December is Always such a difficult time between Christmas, and 3 birthdays in my house. It almost feels impossible. At least right now with food I've been clear :) I've also been drinking a ton less. I know that helps. Can't say that's gonna last forever :)

Have any of you struggled with carpal tunnel syndrome? I'm pretty sure I have it in my right hand. Been waking up in the middle of the night with my middle finger throbbing and feeling very numb. Super painful. I put a wrist brace on until I get to my annual check next week. Curious to see if anybody has had this.

    Thanks!

Karen, I don't have it but I have something going on with my little fingers and my right thumb sometimes. I have arthritis almost everywhere!!
Worked out for 60 mins w/my trainer today. No walking yesterday cuz we had lots of rain. No rain today, but it's supposed to be back tomorrow. We'll see.

I finally went back to the gym. I had a 30 minute session with my trainer and walked on the treadmill. My trainer and swim instructor were both so happy to see me and very sympathetic and understanding about my grief and situation with mom. I’m going back on Monday when my niece can stay with mom.

And yes my body could definitely feel the difference the next day and I could not lift as much as you did two months ago but the trainer said it wouldn’t take long to get back. I’m going to mix things up and get stronger before I get back in the pool next month.

It’s a start and hope I can keep it up.

Karen my bff has carpal tunnel, RA in her hands as well as trigger finger. She had surgery earlier this year and it makes such a difference. Her pain was really bad but the surgery and physical therapy has made such a difference. She has full range of motion again and very little pain anymore.

Kathy, glad you hit the gym. Hope you keep going.
Too much rain today. No walking for me! Maybe tomorrow morning. Maybe.

Kathy - good for you for getting to the gym! Your body I'm sure will be happy (after she stops being sore lol!)

Bella and I had adjustments at the chiropractor. Dr. Mike did some work on my hand....which is thinks is connected to my shoulder. I go back Friday for more....let's hope it works...not interested in surgery!! I'm still wearing the brace...if for nothing else it makes me feel better. Will go to yoga this morning.

Busy (but productive) day yesterday. Bella and I went to the annual tree lighting in our town which was nice. It rained all day, buts stopped an hour before the tree lighting and it was beautiful 😍
they gave out glasses that make lights look like snowflakes. So cool! I drove her around our neighborhood looking at the lights...she loved it!

Great pictures, Karen!! I love them! I hope Dr. Mike works for you. Surgery is NOT fun.
Got outside this morning for 6.22 miles in 107 mins. I stayed within the 17 min mile range. Tried hard for 16's...17:04 was my closest...soon, I hope. And to think I used to do 15's back in the day.
Don't know how much walking I'll be doing this week. I'll be going to go over to Sara's to help her out during the day for a few hours on my regular walking days. We'll see how it all plays out. It's supposed to rain is this week anyway.

Karen my Rocky had carpal tunnel. His arm and hand were always causing him pain. Trouble sleeping. Lose of feeling and painful. He had surgery. Best thing ever for it. I do hope it turns out not to be it though. Great photos.

Chris all I can say is wow. Love the exercise choices.

Kathy so glad you are back at the gym. I am going to start with yoga. Still coughing if I do to much. You will be glad you are going again.

Paula that is me in the photo. Just noticed you had asked about it in the cabin photos. I look awful in photos. Or they show what I am in denial over..... Good luck in your goal this month.

I had a busy weekend. Participated in shop with a cop on Saturday. Then had lunch with Rocky. And went to the movies . Then today went shopping with my daughter. I bought a few new tops. Then had lunch with her. At my home since she really can't eat out with all her allergies. And worked on a 2000 piece puzzle. Holiday eating is hard on me also. I want to manage not to gain anything this month.

Rainy week here in Georgia. Going to go to the gym at least two days and use YouTube 2-3. Trying to get a schedule going. I need consistency. And my day at the gym showed me how much I missed it.

Took my mom to the Georgia Festival of Trees. It was a nice outing that we both enjoyed and I got in a lot of steps.

Kathy, I love your Mom's pants and shoes! You two are just so cute. So nice to see you both out and about. It's so healthy, both physically and mentally. <3

Karen, Bella takes beautiful photos, doesn't she? And you're looking so great too. Can you believe next year will be our sleeves' 10 year anniversaries? It feels like a whole new world to me.

Chris, I'm so impressed at how much you get out and walk. I walked 3.65 miles last week up (hallway steps) and that was pushing me, oof. Gonna try harder. You're a great inspiration.

Shelley, I thot that was you from picture's you'd posted a long time ago - but it looks like you were caught unawares. You still look about the same to me and very fit as always.

The Hogwarts challenge has gotten me moving. Carbs are staying below 100/day. And my tracking seems to be in place now. Now, I'm just waiting for a weight loss to gain momentum.

I worked out w/my trainer today for 60 mins. I've been with her a long, long time.
Going to Sara's tomorrow to help her with whatever she needs...hope it holding Collin for several hours... :D<3

Oh Kathy! Wow, those trees look like so much fun. What great background for your photos. Did you gals have a favorite tree? I liked the one behind the two of you in the first photo. Thanks for sharing. And glad you have a plan for better health.

Paula I did the Hogwarts challenge last summer. It was great. Keep going. And I am not sure I even knew the photo was taken.

Chris I sure hope you got in some baby cuddling. .

We cleaned aquariums tonight. Still really enjoy my dinner friends.

Shelley, no baby cuddling until this afternoon today. Pete's schedule changed, and we'll go over to help around 4:00 this afternoon. I plan to walk this morning. Maybe go up to the top by the water tanks. We'll just have to wait and see.
    Back later, my friends.

Back to the gym today for a 30 minute session with my trainer then 30 minutes on the Treadmill. Hope to get back on Thursday. Mom has a couple of appointments this week.

This was one of my favorite trees donating by Atlanta Pride. So colorful. There were also beautiful wreathes and gingerbread houses. We’re going to make this an annual event. They have Senior Day which is free for those 63 and older. I make the cut! 😂

    Hey Kathy,

    The tree is gorgeous.

As I age, I'm feeling pansexual, where it doesn't matter what a person looks like, it seems to be who they are, that attracts me.

Despite immersion in a heterosexual, white, male-dominated culture; my inner self (child of the 60's) rallied against discrimination. And it's been heart-warming to see all different types emerging from the closet, being elected president, breaking ceilings, etc.

There is still plenty of injustice in the world. Probably always will be. But it is a happiness to see small steps.

The tree is an absolute explosion of joyful color - but being a Pride tree is extra-special. <3<3<3

    Thank you,
    Paula

Paula - I know...10 years aince WLS....was thinking about it yesterday. Had my annual Dr. Checkup. I didn't get the 4lbs off I wanted....oh well. It doesn't define me...I've gotten through a hell of a year.

I'm 100% with you Paula and have attended many a protest for things I care about. I get so excited when we see change and opportunities for marginalized groups 😀

Paula isn't that the truth. Very insightful.

Chris I hope you were able to get out there. Or at least walked indoors. Whatever happened to your incumbent bike?

Kathy I love free admissions. And you did just make it.

I decided to buy a lovely blue clam online. Wish the little guy luck. They don't ship well. But hoping it will survive.

I had Collin duty this morning. Got to hold him while he slept on my chest for almost two hours before I realized I was going to be late for my trainer!! :D I did get 60 mins done with her today even tho I broke every speeding law between Sara's house and her house...thru three towns...but I was on time!! :D
Must start Christmas wrapping pretty soon! Actually, Sara and Pete's 8th Anniversary is the 20th, so I better finish wrapping their stuff...find a card..stick bows on the top of the boxes...Ronan helped with that yesterday. He just slapped them on top of the box that I had slipped a Christmas bag on upside down and on the other box that I quickly wrapped as the kids were coming in the front door!! Don't know if I can fix the wrapped box or if I have to start over on that one. :#
Supposed to rain tomorrow. If it doesn't we will walk and I need to walk to the post office.

Is anyone interested in the Hogwarts challenge? The Holliday challenge just ended and they will start accepting applications for the new term in about a week.

It has four mandatory elements each week:
    • Quidditch (exercise)
    • Potions (eating habits)
    • Defense Against Dark Arts, aka DADA (emotional well being)
    • Hospital (weekly weigh-in)
    • There are also several optional challenges, like steps, food tracking, video workouts, etc.

If anyone has been in the challenge before (like Shelley) and is interested, the organizers can send you and application if I give them your email address.

If anybody else is interested, let me know, and I'll post the link to the application when it is available.

    From Slytherin,
    Paula
