Not what I wanted. My weight has been bouncing around a lot this week, but I think the reason I weighed 130.4 yesterday and 131.6 today is that my sodium intake was high yesterday and so was sugar. I made the mistake of skipping breakfast, eating an early lunch, and was way too hungy by dinner time. Then I did some nervous eating of ginger snaps last night. My steps are also down this week. I just find it much harder to get up to 12K a day when walking alone in the mall or walking on the dreadmill. I'm also doing some holiday related things that take up my time and don't yield that much activity.

Here are my 7-day averages:

Steps = 10,373
Stairs = 11 floors
Kcals burned = 1,786

As I typed these, I also realized that I did not set a goal last week. And I also saw that just a little extra activity could push those kcals burned to my 1,800 daily goal. So my goal for next week is to do something every day that is a little more intense than my usual fast walking or my class on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Lois, I read your last post and my heart just hurt for you. I am so, so sorry that this injury has turned into such a trying event. And I can imagine that it's also causing you some fear and anger and just general emotional upset. I remember so well when I had an injury that was not healing as it should. I knew that eventually I'd be okay, but the pain, lack of sleep, dealing with multiple health providers was just so much. So please know that I am sending you good healing thoughts and just wish I was able to bring you over some homemade meals.

And thank you, Sheesh for your supportive words. We've come a long way from the old bodybugg days. :) And I, too, am grateful for my bodybugg, body media, and now different fitbits. Those little suckers and my support on the boards made my getting healthier possible. We both started with bodybuggs at 156, and I'm sure that if I had not got on this train, I would probably be 20 pounds heavier than even that by now, based on the way my weight had been creeping up in the years prior.

Kelly, hope you're still able to get in the activity. Your progress last week was awesome. Katie, hope you're doing well. I look forward to hearing how everyone is doing as we juggle winter weather, holidays, etc.

    I've decided that hovering in this range is fine for me until after Christmas. . it's hard enough to get a workout done, let alone calorie counting and being overly restrictive this time of year. We have an open house tomorrow and other parties coming up. Had theater tickets last night "(Moulin Rouge" . . really good!) and dinner out. At least I had a small reduction today.

    Sarah, thanks for starting the thread again. I really appreciate your dedication. I need this board for encouragement and support, and just knowing I have to post my weight once a week. :D Your averages are still great, but I understand the boredom of the treadmill. I started listening to a podcast while walking on it, which helps. It's too cold outside right now . . my lungs reject the cold, dry air. My trainer has sick kids, so I'm on my own tomorrow for weight training. It's always harder, but if I just keep the appointment with myself and "get started", that's the hardest part. My goal for next week is to limit sugar intake, maintain weight, and keep up with workouts as normal.

    Lois, wow. I have no words for the continuing trial you're going through with your injury. I'm not much of a praying person, but I have said some for your sake. All you can do is to carefully follow all doc and P.T. instructions. I hope you're sleeping, because that's when we heal the most. Sending love and healing thoughts . . . <3

    Kelly and Katie, looking forward to your checking in. It's such a busy time, especially with kids . . take care.

    Sheesh, I'm with you. If January 2 rolls around and I'm still where I am, that will be a win. And since next week is my last week of classes until after New Years, I am going to have to workout on my own, too.

    Regarding the walking and boredom, I do watch some programs that I record and that hubby doesn't particulary enjoy when I'm on the TM. We record most shows we like and watch them when the time is convenient and it also lets us spend less time since we can speed through the ads. So you can imagine our frustration when we discovered late last night that all the shows that were supposed to have recorded earlier did not do so, and that we also cannot set a recording now or use On-Demand. We checked the account to make sure we hadn't spaced out paying a bill (we had not) and we did all the reset stuff that we know how to do--and nada! So I googled and saw that people have been posting about this on and off for years, although this is our first problem. So we figured we'd call Xfinity today, but when we went up on the site to get the number, there's a notice about "due to a third-party issue, we are unable to help people by phone." WTF? There's no way that we can fix this mess using a bot. The bot is programmed to just ask us to do what we've already done. So if they want our $260 in 9 days, something had better give.

    Anyway, sorry for taking time to bellyache here. I can do the mall by myself for a few days. There is another walker who I often see and sometimes we can catch a few rounds together. She works for Politico, so is a very interesting person to talk to. Enjoy the parties and we'll just keep each other motivated to maintain until 2023 pokes up her pretty head! :smile:

    Slowly but surely. I'll take it. Unfortunately, I came down with a head cold, so I've been working from home this week. I've tested a few times and it's negative, so it's just a plain ol' cold. Started with a super sore throat and a headache, then that went away and now I'm just stuffed up with a bit of a cough here and there. I am still managing to get my 10k steps in daily and I have continued to wake up early to get on the treadmill, but that's really about all my body can handle at the moment. We're also just ending one of our first cold streaks of winter (-45C or -49F with the wind), so I haven't been getting out to walk the dog. Poor guys feet freeze on that snow and ice in a couple of minutes. It's warming up today though, so hopefully we can get out more. I just need this sickness to go away.

    Lois - So sorry you're still struggling with this injury! Hopefully things start to improve for you.

    Sarah - I feel you when it comes to the treadmill boredom. The only thing that keeps me on that thing is a good show and if I'm just walking, I usually play a game on my phone too. Something simple like candy crush. Obviously if I'm walking fast, I just watch tv though. I need something to look at and focus on, rather than just staring at nothing. Good job with the mall walks though. I'm not sure how you do it, as people make me mad lol

    Sheesh - Tis the season for busy events, eating and drinking! I think it's great that you're mostly focusing on maintaining and not putting too much pressure on yourself over the holidays.

    Great job ladies - Sheesh - you're right. It's important for us to be able to at least "maintain" during this holiday season. That's why I was a bit surprised and happy that I was only up 2lbs from August and fully clothed with a sneaker on! haha. I had my ortho follow up today. Sutures are looking good. I finished the round of antibiotics so all is well there. We put gauze over the sutures and then the sock thingy they use under a cast over the gauze. Then I slip my slipper sock on and I'm good to go. This afternoon I pick up the sleep apnea stuff and return it tomorrow. I meet with the doc next week for the results so we'll see. I also have in-home PT tomorrow morning so today and tomorrow are busy. Again, we're still chilly here...I don't know why I'm so cold. I RARELY wear my long sleeve stuff in the house and I'm living in them now.

    Sarah, hoping you continue with your mall walking and activity. Sheesh - hoping the trainer's kids are better quickly. I know what a difference a trainer's presence makes in our efforts.

    Hubby has his shoulder surgery next Wednesday so I'm relying on my son, daughter in law and neighbor for rides to/from there as well as my doc appointments on Thursday. Our daughter comes home from Okinawa on the 21st. She'll be in town for a couple of weeks. If we're feeling well, we are attempting a trip to Cali the day after Christmas for 3 days. Then she's back and forth between here and the East Valley for her horse back riding and her husband's family time.

    Happy Monday, all. Just quickly checking in before the day gets away from me. I've had a slight sore throat for a few days so have been laying low. Yesterday, I slept late and then spent a lot of the day reading. But around 4 o'clock, I got that "weary of sitting" feeling and got to the mall. Toward the end of my walk, I ran into a couple I see often. The wife is younger than the husband and walks longer than he does, so she asked if I wanted to make a few rounds with her. That kept me going and I actually got more than 11K steps yesterday, making up for the 8K from the day before. I know that I have some low step days ahead over the holidays, so that perked me up. I didn't dare step on the scare this morning, though. When I got home last night, hubby had pizza ready for dinner, and I always gain one or two pounds the day after I have pizza. Must be loaded with salt.

    Kelly, you are doing great with the cold weather, work, the kids, and a cold on top of that! And this time of year, I start hating people, too (LOL), but the mall is all but deserted. When I first started walking there and the mall was still thriving, it was packed this time of year, and also open until 11 p.m. Now there are so few stores left, it is very quiet and it closes at 7 p.m.

    Sheesh, I hope your trainer's kids are well now and that she escaped getting that bug. There's an article in the morning paper that said that there are many, many viruses out there now (colds, flu, stomach bugs, RSV, and covid) and that many families have not had a full week without someone in the family being ill since September, when school started again. I just hope that I can get through being around my sister's kids and grands without coming down with something. It's so hard to be sick away from home or to travel when you're not well. Been there!

    Lois, I send you healing vibes every day and will be thinking about your hubby on Wednesday. I know that having your daughter home from Japan will cheer you up and I hope that things work out so that you make your trip to see family in California.

    Well, I have to contact my tax advisor today and get a number of items off the "before we leave" list. Take care everyone.
