This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!
Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion.
Monday - crewahl (Charlie)
Tuesday – Flintwinch (Tim)
Wednesday - misterhub (Greg)
Thursday -imastar2 (Derrick)
Friday - Wildcard
Today's Topic: The second certainty . . . .
That’s right - taxes! It’s official time to start gathering your forms and making your plans and preparations. Do you have your taxes already done? Do you have all the forms collected that you expect? Are you Larry The Cable Guy (Git 'er done!) or a procrastinator? Do you do them yourself, or do you have someone do them for you?
This topic is sponsored - or at least triggered - by the fact that today is my first day in 2023 volunteering at AARP Tax-Aide. And how is this connected to weight loss? Because, like weight loss, planning and prep makes your taxes go easier. Like how I did that? 😁

All of the tax forms we expect (based on the forms we got last year) are downloaded. We’ve been having an accountant do our taxes, in part because we needed someone to do my elderly mother's taxes. That’s not an issue at this point, and my wife will do our taxes when she’s good and ready. I would do them, but she has her own way, and it’s easier for me to just get out of the way - easier in terms of domestic bliss, at any rate.
Ironic that I’ve been doing other peoples' taxes for five years as an AARP volunteer, but I’ve never done our taxes. 🤷♂️0 -
Yup for the sake of domestic bliss I get out of my wifes way at tax time! Once she has the bit in her teeth (which starts on Jan. 2) she becomes obsessed with it, and everyday there is a discussion about "did you get this form or that form yet?"0

We use an accountant. It's just easier and less stressful and ensures that they get done correctly!0

Procrastinator. I’m going to do better this year. I’m concerned our account might fire us (me, he’ll be firing me if it happens) because of the last minute stuff. That’s the last minute in October. The real last minute.0

That IS last minute! You’ll probably win out Procrastinator Championship! 😉0 -
DW does book keeping for 2 non profits also our 3 busineses. Others come first 1099's go out by 1/31 then she has to get our stuff together plus a couple of year ends to do as well. Then once everything is together then we both typically get it done but rarely by the deadline. Frustrating at best.0

When I worked in Saudi Arabia, we developed a relationship with a local accountant, and we have used him ever since. We always do it the end of February or the first of March.
