Okay, at last a downward number. But, of course, now I'm headed to Cali tomorrow until Monday. We're flying down for the turning 5 years old birthday celebration for our grandson Because their house is still being remodeled and their rental house has no guest room, we booked a really cute hotel in Los Altos called the Enchante Boutique Hotel. Apparently they have an excellent French restaurant. Yikes, lol.
We woke up to an unbelievable amount of snow! It looks like 12 inches in our yard, and it's still coming down. Say a little prayer that the roads will be clear tomorrow morning and that our plane will be able to take off! It will help with the water we need around here, but couldn't it just wait until we're gone?
Sorry to run, but I've got a lot to do and playdates and family zoom today. I look forward to seeing your updates. I'll probably read on my phone but might not be able to post. Have a great week.

Happy hump day, everyone. Progress to me would be having the low end of the weight swing in the 120's, and I haven't seen that in quite a while, but considering that I no longer have a walking buddy or a place to walk indoors, I feel pretty good about not edging upward. For some reason, I've been hungrier lately, and I think some of that may be not getting enough protein (so I'm working on that) and being in the house more. I do get out two days for my class and I still do some volunteer work, but I'm home a lot, too. But as I think about that, when I was working, I was at home sitting at a desk 8-10 hours a day, so maybe it's just post-holiday winter weariness.
Sheesh, as I've said before, I do envy your snow, but at least these unseasonable temps are allowing me to walk outside at least once or twice a week, and I think pulling the hills really helps. My original walking buddy was supposed to contact me about a day and time we could get together and walk this past week, but I didn't hear from her. But when we talked by text the week before, she said that she has been dealing with a lot of issues in her extended family. Since she's retired, single, and has no kids, her family seems to think she should handle everything for everybody. And mentioning kids, it seems like hardly any time has passed since your grandson was born. I can't believe he's turning 5! Hope you have a safe trip and a lot of fun.
I have a dentist appointment soon (getting the actual tooth part of my implant), so I'll just quickly note my 7-day averages and will try to come back later.
Steps = 11,426
Stairs = 15 floors
Kcals burned = 1,757
My goal for next week is to do some additional arm weights (in addition to what we do in class). I'm not sure my shoulder can take it, but I won't know until I try. When I have my 3-month checkup in March, I'm going to ask my doc about this shoulder. It woke me up two nights this past week. Her brother-in-law is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in shoulders and knees. Maybe she'll refer me to him.

Happy with my progress for sure! Proud of myself for sticking to it for the most part too. We went on a hockey trip this past weekend and there was one night I ate somewhat off plan and I have way too many drinks. In the past, I would have let that derail me completely and I would have felt like a failure. I have a mindset that this is a life change I'm doing now, so one night didn't throw me off. I went right back at it the next day to eating well and even went to the hotel gym to hop on the treadmill. I'm really liking the workout videos that I'm doing too. Definitely full body.
Hockey playoffs start this weekend for both kids, so we're busy again all weekend. Having food in the fridge ready to go, is what keep me eating right. I'm so happy that I've finally put myself first in my health.
On the weather front, it's F-ing cold here. We're in a big deep freeze with insanely cold temps, but it should be warming up for Sunday. Can't wait for Spring and Summer this year. Poor pup hasn't even been able to run around outside much or even go for a walk cause it's too cold for his feet. He hates boots too, so we don't even make him use them.
Sheesh - 12 inches of snow is too much for this time of year. Yikes!
Sarah - I hope your dentist appointment went well.
Lois - Glad to hear the factor meals are helping! Great that you're adding in that little bit extra movement every day too.

Yeah, Kelly!! You are doing great! And I think that thinking about eating right and moving as a lifestyle and not letting a day off here and there derail us is absolutely key to sticking with it. We are all going to have an event, a trip, or just a day when we're off our game, and the important thing is to treat it like what it is--a momentary blip on the screen that is not going to derail everything we've accomplished and hoped to accomplish.
The dentist appointment went fine, but after not having a tooth in that spot for almost a full year, the new implant tooth feels like having a great big marble in my mouth. I know that is temporary, but I'm prone to getting into "forever thinking." We have a good friend who recently got a mouth full of implants, and all I can say is that he's a better (hu)man than I will ever be!
Sheesh, hope you made it safely to California. Lois, hope all is well with you.0 -
Happy Monday Ladies! I had to check in before the week is out. Last week so very busy/crazy. Work was insanely busy as we converted to O365 for our emails/calendars. And it's still causing havoc. Failed to realize they didn't make me a delegate on the owner's account and he's missed several appointments. Why? because I didn't receive the email to accept them and for them to show up on his phone that tells him where we need him for the day. So working that through, and finding out, someone else might be assuming that role. YAY! Working on disposing of some responsibilities. Anyway, with the changeover to O365 and some other stuff, I'm working on separating work from personal. I used my personal computer for work for years, until it crashed. Then I've been using my work computer for work and personal for the past few years. Well, things are a changing so I've purchased myself another new personal laptop and I'll be maintaining and migrating my personal life to this new machine and getting off the work machine. I haven't decided about my phone yet. I'm don't want to carry two devices, so I'm apt to just keep that mish mashed until I retire. Keep in mind, my company was very much like a family and now it feels like we're becoming more "corporate". My bosses knew/know I mix use all of my equipment. I do not share company info with anyone outside of the company etc. It's just feeling like it's time to put a bigger separation on my information - including this page.
We had a busy weekend. Rhea and her parents came up on Saturday. Rhea walked Grammy corner to corner while Rhea rode her bike. When we reached our house again, she was done, left the bike in the driveway and then ran and walked with me the 4 houses I need to achieve my goal. Then we played lots in the house. She learned to play CandyLand, and of course we played food delivery and Cootie and her baby dolls. Sunday I was supposed to take Kelsie, the 10 yo granddaughter, to a horse riding lesson that my daughter had prepaid for but didn't use when she was here. Unfortunately, it rained overnight and the arena does not have any drainage and was too wet/muddy for lessons...so they got cancelled. we are scheduled again for next Sunday. Kelsie texted me she was sad lessons were cancelled, so Grammy did what a good Grammy would do, she showered and still drove 70 miles to see her. I offered to take her to lunch and she chose Main Event, where they have video games. The place was packed, mainly because the machines are so close together so I'm glad I braced my foot and didn't attempt my scooter. $100, lunch and about 2.5 hours later I was back at her house. Her brother Cameron didn't want to come with us, so I stopped at his dad's place and said hello to him and visited for a little bit. Drove another 70 miles to head home. Oh lordy was I wiped out. I got my exercising in just moving around the Main Event place and too tired and sore to do any other exercised.
Monday's are always crazy busy and today has not been any different. I haven't weighed myself in weeks and I really should. I'm starting to look at a program a friend of mine did, Optavia. Kind of like Nutrisystem, so that's what's holding me back. But I'm not doing well on my own with food prep etc. We have not been eating the Factor meals (they are now delivering our meals very very late on Tuesday, like after dinner late). Well on Fridays, even when it's not Lent, I like Poke for lunch and fish tacos for dinner. And the weekends, we visit the kids or the kids visit us, so the meals don't really work. And it's far too expensive to just have 4 meals delivered. So it will be Door Dash for this week and next. I need to get my head wrapped around eating healthy again. Also, I can't wait for the Peppermint Mocha to be discontinued and I go back to my Cold Brew coffee. That is costing me 225 additional calories. But it's like 45 degrees in the morning, unsure I can drink my non iced cold coffee. I don't have the power to stop until it's no longer available. I've attempted...
Sheesh - I hope you have an amazing time with the grandkids!! And I agree with Kelly (I had to sneak a peek after her comment), that hotel is adorable!!! Be conscientious of what your intake is, or just enjoy yourself and get back on track when you get home. You're very strong that way.
Sarah - you're finding your way. And, you can ask your doc to refer you to her BIL if that's who you'd like to see , if he's on your insurance plan.
Kelly - awesome job with the wins over the weekend!! Congrats to the kiddos and to you for managing your choices and still enjoying yourself.0
