Our current leaders are a great group whose enthusiasm is contagious but there are times when we need new members to step up and it often doesn't happen easily.

One of the most common reasons we hear for members not wanting to lead is that they don't have experience. Guess what? Neither did the rest of us!

Another reason is people are afraid they don't have time. If you have 5 minutes daily to add to the time you already spend on your team, you have time to be a leader.

A third reason is, "I don't know what to do". No worries, someone will help you!

So the OALs have decided to hold a "Leader Training School. This school is not only for those aspiring to be leaders but also for those of us who are already leaders and some, like me, who have been leaders for many years. We can never know too much and should always be willing to learn.

You can attend this school free of charge the only qualifications are a willingness to learn and a desire to help the challenge and your teammates.

Please post below, or if you'd rather you can send me MFP mail and I will invite you to the leadership team so you can get started reading the posts that are already there.

    I agree with Ceri!! When I first stepped up I had no clue what a ML (Motivational Leader) did. I had little experience outside of AOL (yeah remember that dial tone?), but I wanted to help the team I was on (Dawggies-Sparkpeople). I sure did struggle! The first challenge I felt so lost (though I was assured I was doing well). By the 2nd challenge as the ML, I was starting to fit into the position and it's gone from there.

    Being a leader does take a little bit of time, but work with your leaders, some have extra time, some have little time, but together it works out so well.

    How have I grown as a person? My confience came back faster being a leader when I had started my confidence in most of my life was pretty low. When a member thanks you for helping them, this is a most wonderful side effect!! It grew so much when I was able I even went back to work when I hadn't worked in years which included during the pandemic also! And my confiedence at the jobs I did showed easily. If I had felt well, there's no doubt I'd of started to climb the ladder again. Its all because you ALL!! TY!!

    Do we want you to be perfect as a leader? NO WAY!! LOL we aren't!! We make errors, but we also help each other out on those. Do we want to be "an example" to your team on weight loss? Exercise? The LTGLs? No! We want to be yourself as you are. None of us are perfect, no leader has this 100% figured out, but we are willing to learn along our own journeys.

    Please come and join us. We'd love to work with you!

    PS: When I was asked to be an OAL (Over All Leader) I ALMOST SAID "NO WAY!" LOL so happy I didn't. What a great group of OALs to work with!! Again I've grown.

    @Ceriusly1 ~ Ceri
    @Dianedoessmiles1 ~ Diane
    @ladyluk1 ~ Barb
    @kaliswalker ~ Lynn

    The Red Hots are down a leader and now are working with 'The Core Four':
    @hicim705 ~ Heidi, Captain
    @bbonet3 ~ Bruni, Baggage Handler
    @Mango1960 ~ Denise, Passenger Service Agent
    @paints5555 ~ Laura, Flight Attendant

    @Mango1960 ~ Denise does her share of motivational posts and tries to keep the chat moving along with @bbonet3 ~ Bruni. Because of time (or lack thereof), @paints5555 ~ Laura backs everyone up but doesn't have a specific job although she is an asset to our leadership team.

    Although we have been able to handle things with the core group that we have, I'm actually thinking of another one or two Flight Attendants for our team and/or someone that could do all of that data entry/data mining that Bruni and I do which would leave both of us open to help with the Motivational/Passenger Service Agent aspect of the Challenge. Our plan is to try to recruit from those that sign-up for the Red Hots Team, but I thought I would throw it out there to see if anyone has any ideas of a member that might want to move teams and try their hand at leadership. Our core group is small but mighty and would need to have someone that would be willing to share ideas and be able to help. Motivation is an area that we could use some more help with. Just thought I would throw it out there . . . Heidi (hicim705)

    @hicim705 as much as I love my fit force fam I'd be willing to help as a flight attendant. I'm on vacation all week but do have to go in for truck unload and get the markdowns pulled then I get to head to the gym for my workout.

    @macrat12 - Thank you for the offer!! It is fine if you don't have much time this week as I'm busy writing some text for the 2023 Spring 5% Challenge and it is taking a bit more time than I would have thought ~ BUT ... it is all good! When will you be back? I was wondering if you might be interested in doing a Google Meet call with me and if I can plan it correctly, one or two of our other Red Hots Leaders. I'm sure that Sue would be very sad to see you leave ... let me know if you can make a meeting and when you will be available to do so ~ we'll see if we can make it happen. I'm going to send you my e-mail address in MFP mail, you will then have it in case we do get that meeting on the calendar. Thanks! ~ Heidi (hicim705)
