Do any of you still have any of the clothing you wore at your heaviest? If so, what is it and do you still have it? If not, at what point did you get rid of it?

At 315#, I wore a 52” “executive cut” suit. That’s what I’m modeling at goal in my avatar. I kept it from when I started losing in 2008 until perhaps 2021 when we had downsized and were finding the closet a bit tight.

I kept it as a reminder of what I’m capable of doing to myself. Eventually, I concluded that it had outlived its usefulness and I let it go.

I am still in process; so, I haven't really cleaned out my closet.

I had a flannel shirt that I repurposed as jacket around the house here in south FL. It ended up in water in the Hurricane Ian flood. Went in the rag bag. Think that was the last thing.

And it took me years to get rid of the fat clothes. Don’t know why. It wasn’t a hedge against going back. Getting rid of things in general is a stressful chore. Don’t understand it.

I agree; I was raised with that whole “use it up, wear it out, make it do” thing,

Once I reached goal I had to do a whole shopping "spree." As I recall, I folded up my old clothes to make room for the new. Once I'd been at goal for a while (maybe 6-12 months?), I figured it was better to remove the safety net and get rid of the old wardrobe. So I did.

On a semi-related note, I'm closing in on my retirement. I've been spending some time cleaning out my office. I've got scientific notebooks that I used from 35 years ago (you know, "just in case" I needed some information from them), journals, articles, books, knick-knacks, etc., in there. I have been throwing nearly everything away. Some things have been easy, but there are some things that are way more challenging. I think it's things that have sentimental value, rather than scientific value, that have been the hardest to toss.

I pretty much wore everything out at my highest weight. I was always very discouraged to go clothes shopping die to the fact that I had to go to the 4XL at least. I don't believe I kept anything that was worth anything at all. That being said I kept some clothes mostly a suit on the way down. I lost the first 100 lbs pretty quickly thus the wearing out the old clothes before losing.
I finally got rid of most pants and some shirts.
