March 29- April 4

Hey Everyone!!!

I am starting this off because I remembered you all this morning!

Weight is 172.2!!!! Although that seems good I am curious because my new scale says I am losing muscle and gaining fat. Odd to me since I am working out way more. Either way the scale can keep going down.

Questions from you all: My daughter is much better now. The meds worked this time. My divorce is taking a long time because he will not agree to certain things. We have to agree on assets and children. It is so expensive and stressful but with his controlling it is never ending. My surgery is today at 145pm central time. It is my left hand, I am hoping it heals very fast so I can get back to lifting weights in CrossFit.

I am happy that everyone is starting to trend positively. Even if we are not losing weight, we are maintaining and having great life experiences. I know it is not always like this but I feel as though it was rough for awhile there for everyone and now it seems better.

Have a wonderful week!

Happy to have held my own since I had to rest my leg. I'm still not sure this procedure will work. I should have said a bruise (in appearance) the size of a large nickel rather than a dime. I have to chuckle since often my tendency is to see things worse than they are rather than better. But anyway, I was told to wait 9 months before passing judgement on the efficacy. In the meantime, I kept compression on that leg as long as I could stand it (3-1/2 days). Then the itching was beyond what I was willing to tolerate. But I got extra activity in on Wednesday and walked 8K onThursday morning before my appointment and was able to come out with a 7-day average above 10K/day, so I'm happy about that. Intake was a little tricky this week. I was doing better and actually saw 129.8 for one day, but then we went out to dinner with a group of friends one day and took dinner to a friend who came with shingles on another night, and so I didn't stay there.

Katie, I was so glad to see your post and I will definetly send some good vibes to you today for successful surgery and a quick recovery. I'm sorry your soon-to-be ex is dragging things out, but I've found that sometimes we can look back and see that something that seemed negative at the time actually brought some good with it. When I divorced my ex-husband many years ago, he kept changing lawyers to drag things out, and the judge did not look at him very favorably when my attorney pointed that out. And regarding the muscle/fat weight, it does not make a lot of sense to me either, but if you're being active and gradually more active over time and you watch intake, you will eventually see the results you want. I think sometimes our body just has to adjust to the changes we make.

Kelly, I'm so proud of your success with working out. I'm going to my class two times a week and walking, but I need to start doing some higher intensity workouts, too. Got to run, but will check back in soon. Sheesh, I'm looking forward to hearing about your trip to Portland, and Lois, I hope that you are finally getting better sleep and still seeing good progress with the foot. Before I go, here are my 7-day averages for last week:

    Steps = 10,580
    Kcals burned = 1,728
Stairs = 20 floors (And once again, I think this is artifically high. It's either counting hills as steps or something went wacko when Google took over the Fitbit app.)

Katie - so good to hear from you and hear that your daughter is feeling better. Hoping your scale balances out for the positive.

Good job Sarah!! Hoping your procedure works and you're feeling better quickly.

Sheesh should be back and checking in soon.

So after my last post, in therapy another therapist used some of the equipment I use and moved where they normally are. So the 4" base is usually next to the treadmill and I use that for step downs. The 6" base is usually next to the spin bike - well, the therapist switched them around for stability for his patient. So after I finished my hurdle steps I went over to the treadmill base and began my step down. I didn't pay attention and began my step downs. Oh man it hurt when I did the first ones, but I continued and did all 30 of them. I went over to the spin bike base and started my step ups. That's when I realized the bases were switched and went back to the treadmill to do my 30 step ups on each leg. So I did 90 step ups/down on the 6" base. Not only was my ankle hurting, it was also a harder workout on my quads. WHEW. So friday I was still very very sore and I did attempt walking around the house...I made it to the driveway and realized I was in too much pain to continue. Saturday, I pushed harder and did the 2 laps around the block for 1.06 miles. Finally broke the 1 mile marker!!! Lots of pain and I did stop numerous times so it took me almost 40 minutes. Sunday, was horse riding lesson with Kelsie. Walked around the barn saying hi to the horses as we waited for the trainer. back and forth to the van to get our chairs and such. Trainer didn't show. No lesson...but many steps - on uneven ground. This was a weekend Grandpa and Grandma were treating her for her 11th birthday so off to Target we went. And we walked and walked around as Kelsie picked out clothes, toys and easter stuff....so many many steps. Lunch at Olive Garden (hubby and I took most of our pasta home and had for dinner). And all of the walking also included driving 160 miles in one morning...whew we were exhausted. and my legs killed me!!! So again, super sore legs so no walk around the block. And Tuesday was PT again. WHEW!! My recovery is slow, and the pain is showing that I'm improving as it's taking me longer to be in pain. Therapy is going well and will continue for several months. I do plan to walk around the block TWICE tonight after work.

Hubby and I are really trying to watch what we eat, we both need to lose the weight. I've ordered the Factor75 meals again, so hoping that keeps us from ordering fast food or other higher caloric foods. I do have free boxes if anyone is interested in trying the service. A friend of mine has been on the Optavia plan for quite a while and is having amazing results. A lot like Nutrisystem, but supposed to have better tasting foods and drinks. So I am still thinking about it. If I do start it, I will after Easter.

We will have ham, salad and treats already ordered and it's the first time I will have both my son and daughter with me for Easter in so many many years. My son usually is up north with his wife's grandma for the long weekend, so I usually get the "drop by" on their way home, not for dinner or anything. So it's usually a mini egg hunt for Rhea and a small present, not the day together. Tasha hasn't been here since she graduated from college in 2004. I am attempting to come up with some healthy salads to go with the honey baked ham, so I'm open to ideas and suggestions and I have a cheesecake ordered (Family favorite). We are all watching our weight, so the cheesecake is small and we will all only get a small slice. Basket candy is minimal for the little one and just a handful for the adults.

One full mile completed last night!! Wow was that painful and exhausting. And it was one of our warmer days so then I was stinky... But YAY working on increasing my distance house at a time every time. Next goal is 1.5miles by end of next week.

Just back from physical therapy. My therapist is leaving today to go to his new location full time. I'll miss him, but I am happy for his professional growth. Unfortunately, he's just a tad too far for me to follow. He's going north versus east. East I can handle as I can work it in to/from work. North is just out of the way. Like I said, happy for his professional growth. I have a choice of my new therapist, the manager, whom I have had treat me several times and he's as awesome as my current therapist or a newly licensed therapist who has a funny sense of humor. She has worked on me before and I have no problem, and she could be innovative since she's just out of school. So...we'll see who they put me with next week. There are two that I do not want to work with, so I will be sure I am not with them.

Well, not terrible considering our trip to Portland. My granddaughters like the Dance Dance game on the TV, so we did a couple of those together, also an Apple Dance workout with my daughter, a long walk/hike through the adjoining woods one day, and bowling and running around an arcade another day. I was glad for the walk/hike on the only good weather day we got. Today I had my trainer, so I got a good weight training workout. However, we are getting a blizzard snowstorm today, lol, so no outdoor walking here for a while yet. I can't believe the weather this year. It's been wet in Cali, wet in Oregon, and lots of snow here. When we left last Friday, we had to get up early because our flight was at 8:20 am. It was good we left early because we beat the storm while driving to the airport, but when we got there a blizzard hit. They put us on the plane, but then had to de-ice the plane. Then delayed . . we waited on the plane for 2 hours, then the pilot announce we had to go back to the gate to get re-fueled and again de-iced! OMG. I was texting our daughter because she was working (she's a professor at the University of Portland) and it was throwing off her whole day. We offered Uber, but she insisted she come and get us. The plane arrived 2.5 hours late. Argh.

Wow, Sarah, congratulations on your reduction, and especially your dedication through your leg procedure. . you've kept your numbers up there. I hope you get good results. I thought about getting my veins zapped with a laser, but it scares me too much, lol.

Lois, you're really improving fast now, and I can tell you're really motivated. That's great! I haven't tried any of the meal services, but it seems like it would be so convenient, especially for working women. I'm excited for you to have your children with you for Easter! <3

Kellie, I think you've had amazing focus and results. You seem very determined, and I know you'll succeed. I remember how focused you were before you got married. You can do it.

Katie, I was glad to see your post. Your surgery was yesterday, so I don't know when you'll be able to check in (with one hand), but let us know how the recovery is going when you can. I hope you're going to get PT. I think it's so important, so hopefully your insurance covers it. I'm sure your soon-to-be ex husband cannot hold up the divorce forever . . so hang in there. As far as your scale, I sometimes think those things are programmed and don't take into account working out, weight lifting, etc.

We had a great time with the kids and kiddos, but I'm glad to be home and I'm ready to focus for a couple of months before the warmer weather hits. We'll have our kids here over for Easter dinner, like you Lois. We took Easter treats and gifts to the kids in Oregon and snuck them out for display as we were leaving for the airport, so it will be an early surprise for them. We still have to send to our kids in Cali, and then we'll also celebrate with our kids here. It's a challenge to have families spread out, but then we have places to visit, so it's all good.

I hope you're all having a great week.

By the way Sarah, what do you think of the changes in rules for the MLB?

Happy Friday, all. Katie, I hope the surgery went well yesterday. And a big congratulations, Lois, on making a full mile! You are making such good progress now, and I love that you set goals for yourself. I'm also so happy for you about having both kids for Easter this year. What a special treat.

Sheesh, I think I'm going to like the new baseball rules. Watching my team rebuild--probably not so much. We beat the Yankees (of all teams) 3 to nothing in the last pre-season game on Monday, and then got hammered (7 to 2) by the Braves in the season opener yesterday. But we know that rebuilding typicaly means more losses than wins. And it's still baseball!

I have to confess that I did something yesterday I seldom do. Because it was opening day for baseball, and to be honest, just because, I decided to eat exactly what I wanted for one day. And because it's tradition on opening day, that was hotdogs, potato chips, and ice cream. Then a friend brought us three kinds of homemade cookies, and I had two. So it was no surprise that I was up to 131 this morning. At least I made my 10K steps by midnight last night, but barely. To do that, part of that time I was walking at 3.5 miles an hour, which is just about the breaking point between running and walking for me. After I finished, I wondered if I was supposed to do that this soon. The vein doc said no running, jumping, or squatting for two weeks, but said I can walk. Just don't know if that includes walking like a crazy person! :p Don't think I'll do that again today. And Sheesh, I can live with my small spider veins, but this is a big vein, and I know that if I don't do something now, pain will probably follow. I just hope that this minimally invasive stuff will suffice. Only time will tell, apparently. Patience. I must have been behind the door when they gave that out.

Hubby is contining to work on replacing the railroad ties that border our brick patio. I wish we could have found someone to do the work, but at least he's taking it slow. He has also said that he will leave the part that will soon be hidden by plants and the cushion bin and do that in the fall. On Wednesday, I got down on my hands and knees and cleaned some floors, and he worked all afternoon outside. So by bedtime, we were both moving slowly! We just looked at each other and laughed and said "Usta coulda!" :D Because he's out there trying to get some things done before the rain comes in later today, I told him that I'd cook him a nice dinner, so I need to head off to the market.

Take care everyone, and have a nice weekend. Kelly hope all is well with you and yours.

Sorry! I totally forgot to post my weight last week. Not sure why it was such an increase, but I'm going with it. I'm going to attribute it to me doing more aggressive & heavy weight training. I have been increasing my total calorie burn each day too, but probably haven't been drinking enough water.
My back is sore today, so my form was probably off yesterday and this morning during my workouts, but I'll push through. Might add some mobility and stability exercises after I'm done work today.

Katie - I hope the surgery went well and you're not in too much pain afterwards! I'm sure it'll be hard to type after, so take your time.

Sarah - Hopefully the itching has gone away! Glad to hear the surgery was a success.

Lois - Great job with the small goals, focusing on the smaller goals and making healthier food choices! It's definitely easier when the hubby can commit to that focus as well.

Sheesh - Glad to hear you had a great trip! Super jealous of your traveling. I sure do miss it.

It sounds like we'll be going away on a hot trip next winter. We had actually been planning to go with the kids and their Mom on a hot trip to Mexico or somewhere like that, but I found out last week that my Brother got engaged and is planning a destination wedding. I'm happy for him, but I'm still not sure how I feel about the whole thing. It's all moved so fast and I haven't even met the girl yet. Not sure if you remember, but he only got legally separated last winter. No clue when the divorce is even final. I'm sure I'll feel better once I meet her. In the end, I just want him to be happy, cause really that's all that matters.

We've been busy again with hockey. Just when we thought it was over lol Ella had a tournament/camp thing this past weekend and Tyler has a try out for his high school team this week. They will both play ball hockey (running in arena's without the ice) in May & June and then Ella was invited to be a part of a group that is doing summer training for July & August - on-ice and off-ice 3 times a week. Only a handful of girls were invited, which shows that she's a great player and is only going to get better. The money part is always tough, but she only has a few years left and if she can look at getting into University and get scholarships with hockey, how amazing would that be. Still, she's only 13 and it's quite competitive already.

I just have to say, the weather here SUCKS. It snowed a bit again yesterday and we still have a ton of snow left on the ground. Plus, we're currently in a Winter Storm Watch for Tuesday-Thursday, where we could get 15-25cms (5-10 inches) of snow. Like WTF?! Enough already winter.

K rant over lol Have a good day all. I'll be sure to post my weight this next week.
