Ok. Start with the fact that we lose weight because of a calorie deficit.

Is this the other puzzle piece?

Deriving satisfaction from any loss regardless of how small it may be.

Any thoughts?

    I agree that people shouldn’t disparage any loss, regardless of size. But (parsing words) implicit in that statement is the corollary that we should be disappointed in any gain. So I guess I’d restate it as “ Deriving satisfaction from any result as long as we know we followed the process”.

    Cuz we all know stuff happens, and our weight doesn’t always do what we expect it should.

    Not getting discouraged/ not stopping the effort when the gain is small or nonexistent is the way I would phrase the "secret".

    I do believe that we should be happy with all losses - large or small. But, I also agree with Charlie that it needs to be done within “the process,” whatever that may be.
