✈️DESTINATION - Dornod, Mongolia 6,000 - Healthy Snacks and 10 Minutes Outside
WOW!! this is a fascinating week for us on the 2023 Spring 5% Challenge!! We are headed to Dornod, Mongolia!! Why there you may wonder and where is Mongolia? Here’s a map of where Mongolia is located. You’ll see that Dornod is underlined in red for you!
Why are we visiting here? Dogwood trees grow here similar to the ones we have in the US!! Mongolia is a landlocked country in East Asia, bordered by Russia to the north and China to the south. It covers an area of 1,564,116 square kilometers (603,909 square miles), with a population of just 3.3 million, making it the world's most sparsely populated sovereign nation. Mongolia is the world's largest landlocked country that does not border a closed sea, and much of its area is covered by grassy steppe, with mountains to the north and west and the Gobi Desert to the south. Ulaanbaatar, the capital and largest city, is home to roughly half of the country's population. Want to learn more? Follow the link please:

Living The Good Life 1: Healthy snacks 200 calories and under
Please note if you do not snack you automatically earn 10 points towards this week's LTGL. WTG!! For those of us though who do snack, could this be a benefit to us? From the Massachusetts General Hospital:
Healthy snacks can help you in many ways, including to:
Help you not gain weight
Keep you from overeating at your next meal or reaching for unhealthy food when you’re really hungry
Help you feel less cranky or have fewer mood swings by keeping your blood sugar levels stable
Keep you focused and alert by sending a healthy blood supply to your brain.
Do you want some suggestions for healthy snacks under 200 calories to eat? Most of us when we suddenly want it right off, perhaps crave sweets or salty things. Here are some suggestions:
Berries and basil with cream cheese toast about 176 calories
Sweet Potatoe chips with 136 calories
Blackberries and Pistachios - 159 Calories
Here’s the link for more because these can hit those cravings easily and yet many are a grab it and eat it snack which we usually desire and NO GUILT! https://www.buzzfeed.com/carolynkylstra/healthy-snacks-under-200-calories
Ohhhh do I see anyone getting excited at this idea? Avacado Deviled Eggs? Open faced rice cake sandwiches? Not feeling like any freggies (FRuit/vEGGIES)? Greek Turkey Rollup!! Here’s the link with more delicious ideas. Why not on your team chat talk about what you enjoy?

I also like this article from WebMD, here are a few points from this article.
1. It Helps You Get Vitamin D getting 5 to 15 minutes of sunlight in creases your Vit. D.
2. It Lessens Anxiety: Sunlight increases serotonin. This helps raise your energy and keeps your mood calm and focused.
Walk! From my own experience, walking outside changes your terrain. It takes more muscle and balance to walk on gravel, uneven sidewalks or asphalt.
Play! I love to go to the park a block from me and swing on the swings! It is fun work to get the swings started and keep them going higher!
🧑🌾🌞 ⛱ 🚶⚾ Whether you're gardening, walking, playing, or just sitting in the sun, do something outside for 10 minutes every day. (written by Ceriusly1)
10 Minutes = 10 points, all or nothing.
Summary:
