30 Days into strength training

My name is Jacquelyn and I am 31 years old. A month ago I started my workout journey. I am working out once a week with a personal trainer and 3 other time during the week and doing cardio and strength training on my own.

Hi Jacquelyn. I am Cat, 71 year old geezer trying to get strong before knee replacement surgery. This group isnt very active. Maybe you can change that. I am working my wsy through a book called STRONG WOMEN STAY YOUNG. It has made a real difference in my energy level and stamina, which really surprises me. I try to work on different muscle groups every day and take Sunday off.

Hi all. I'm 53 and have started back up with strength training and hopefully running. No issues yet, but age is a big factor for me.1

Hi, I’m Kathy and when I workout I feel so much better. Physically and mentally. I need to get more fit to keep up with grandchildren. A beautiful sassy 5 yr old and soon to be 3 yr old triplet grandsons.

@blondie2970 i read 3 year old triplet grandsons and had to go rest 😂. I kept twin grandsons with a brother a couple of years older when I was still in my fifties and in great shape and it was so exhausting. If that doesnt make you lose weight, nothing will!
I am now working with a physical therapist to build strength twice a week. I do a leg press machine, leg raises in ankle weights, squats with a kettlebell, and lots of walking around carrying a kettlebell in each hand. I am 72 and working hard to get stronger while I still have the ability to do it. I had a knee replacement a couple of years ago and want to put off replacing the other knee, so my orthopedic surgeon sent me to PT. Evidently, strengthening the muscles around a problem joint is the key to avoiding surgery.

57 and started trying to lift heavy about 18 months ago after reading The New Menopause and how critical resistance training is as we age. I’m definitely stronger now, but don’t feel like I’ve maximized my strength training as effectively as I could have. Thinking about signing up with a personal trainer at my gym to move from machine focused workouts to free weights. Fear of doing it wrong and getting hurt has kept me from doing it on my own.
