Still sort of holding my own. And still not doing so good with getting the daily burn up. Yesterday was a real stinker. I only had about 4K steps at dinner time, so after we ate, I walked around the block a couple of times since a storm cooled the temps to the mid to high 80's. But it was still super humid, so I went down to the treadmill to finish up. And a few minutes after I started, I felt nauseous. Thought it might be heat and dehydration, so I got some water, took a rest, and tried again. Same thing. Rested again and got back on and this time I felt really dizzy. And although I hated to stop with only 7,400 steps, I knew better than to risk a fall. Some days things just don't work out as planned. By bedtime, I noticed a sore throat, so I don't if the two were connected.

This morning the throat is better, but still noticeable; however, I still hope to get in some activity today because we are finally using a gift card given to us by our neighbors for some carpentry and landscaping help hubby provided. And it's to a new Italian restaurant where carbs and calories probably abound. But I want to go and enjoy myself, so I'm just giving myself permission to do so--provided of course, that the throat does not get worse.

Sheesh, yes, I did get fully certified to teach that class, but I really do not want to be the main instructor. I just don't want the amount of administrative duties that are required and of course there's a certain level of liability. And all this became a bit of issue yesterday because my instructor informed the county and her backups that she is resigning after the summer session. She has been fighting with the county about several issues and finally got fed up. I don't know yet what will happen. If none of the other certified trainers in the class (there are three of us) want to assume the lead, either the county will have to send someone in from outside our neighborhood or this particular class will go away, and people will need to join a class at another site. If that's the case, I think I will move on to other classes that are taught here in my neighborhood and that some of the people from my Bone Builders class also attend. Trying not to project.

Well, it's time to get moving. Before I go, here are my 7-day averages:

Steps = 10,255
Kcals burned = 1,655
Steps = 12 floors

Goals? Haven't gotten there yet. I'm less than proud of the fact that I'm not meeting the goals I set.

Back later. Looking forward to hearing from everyone. (Lois, Phoenix's heat made the A section of the Washington Post today. Hope you and yours are all okay.)

    I'm just bouncing around in a range, and I realize I'll need to identify and change a few things if I want more reduction. I'm going to have to think about it. Lately, it feels like I don't have time to think about it, haha.

    Sorry to have missed posting yesterday, but we've had a lot going on. I did manage to get a good cardio workout though, so I'm proud of that. I've had a pretty good week so far, although we went to the baseball game Tuesday and I indulged in a hot dog, and the cold beer on such a hot night was great. I enjoyed it. Today my trainer is coming soon, so I'll have to jump off.

    Sarah, I hope the sore throat didn't develop into anything more, and that you were able to enjoy your Italian meal. That's too bad about your bone builder instructor resigning, but it sounds like you have options to replace the class. Has your hubby's neck pain improved since the cortisone injections?

    Well, I had better finish off this cup of coffee, and get warmed up for weight training. Stay cool everyone!

    This past week has been a challenge. Just still not feeling great - fighting the migraine and yucky. The 117 temps don't help either. I did go to PT this morning. I got very overheated and a bit nauseous. Did not finish my exercises. It's been a few hours, and I still feel yucky. I ate, but it hasn't helped. So I'll just leave it at that for now. I'll check back shortly

    Happy Birthday Lois!!

    I'm so sorry about the heat and nausea . . such a drag on our energy. Can you do the PT exercises in your pool? Feel better, and hope you can celebrate.

    First, happy birthday to Lois. :) I do hope that you will feel better and get a chance to do something enjoyable to celebrate.

    Sheesh, I am glad to see your post. I figured that yesterday just got too busy for you. It's funny (or not!) how a day can slip away. And thanks for asking about hubby's pain. He has not started the cortisone shots yet. For now, he's trying to get by with heat, ice, rest, and some of the meds they've given him. His work has been so busy for the past week that I think it has taken his mind off of everything else.

    My sore throat eventually was accompanied by a very sore tongue, and then a yellow spot on the side of the tongue that lasted a couple days and then turned into what looks like a canker sore. My tongue was so sore yesterday, it was very hard to eat and that was a bummer because a friend brought us some Smith Island cake from out on the Eastern Shore.

    This morning, I was at first relieved to see that the yellow spot had turned into a blister that looks like an ordinary canker sore. So I thought it was running its course. But then I noticed my tongue. It was swollen and had a fissure down the middle. I have never had my tongue look anything like that. :# So I called my doc and she got me in and tested for Covid, flu, strep, and HPV. The HPV takes a few days but the other tests were all negative. All in all, she's thinks this is just a form of a canker sore that for some reason has been accompanied by fatigue. And the fatigue has been bad. Tuesday and Wednesday, I got barely got 10 to 15 minutes at a time on the TM without resting and didn't get 10K steps either day. Yesterday, I broke up my exercise into small bites and did get my 10K in, plus I went to my class, but I was so worn out I slept through what hubby says was one of the worst thunderstorms we've had all year. And even roofers arriving early this morning to replace the shingles on the house next door did not wake me up! Anyway, I hope that whatever this is will just run it's course and my tongue and throat and I will be back to normal soon.

    When I feel a little better and have some time, I'll fill you in on a phishing scam that got me over the weekend. (Did I already mention that?) Honestly, there are some really bad apples out there always trying to take advantage of folks.

    My gosh, Sarah. I'm so sorry. I hope you're already feeling better by today. With the fatigue, I was thinking it might be mono. I hope not. And, I don't think you've said anything about the phishing scam! Good grief, there are so many crooks out there. :/ And, congrats to the Nats on their wins over the SF Giants.

    I'm hoping Lois went on a vacation for her birthday. It's been so hot in the Phoenix area. Check in soon Lois . . thinking about you.

    It's Monday, and our air conditioning has been out since Saturday morning! We went to our daughter's house yesterday to escape, as there's no way to get a serviceman out on a Sunday. Today is a Utah holiday, but we found someone who will come today. Our basement bedrooms are pretty cool, so we've been sleeping down there with fans running. We talked about taking a Park City staycation, but have to hang around here to get it fixed. Ugh. I managed to get my workout ring closed Saturday on the treadmill. I'm facing it down without success so far today. I canceled my trainer for today . . it's just too hot even in the downstairs gym.

    Just a quick check in. I had a fabulous birthday weekend. Hubby brought me a DQ blizzard for lunch on Friday. Saturday Rhea and her parents came up and spent the day. We played games and then got in the pool ordered lunch from Olive Garden and enjoyed one another. Sunday hubby and I went to Red Lobster for my crab leg dinner - I opted for the Bairdi crab - steamed...while it was meatier than snow crab, it was not near as flavorful, so I ordered an order of snow crab - steamed which was DELICIOUS. YEs, it took a while but I did eat 2lbs of crab legs. None of the sides, and I was STUFFED. Brought home the cake/ice cream and hubby and snacked on it later that evening.

    We are on day - who the heck cares - it's too dang hot - over 110. So I've been staying inside. Now that my toes are better, I am getting into the pool to walk and a short swim. Yesterday and today anyhow. Walked for 20 mins and then swam several laps to work the upper body. I've exhausted the number of PT visits per my insurance plan, so I'm now on cash pay, which is fine. They're an awesome team. So on Thursdays I'll have PT and work on kicking my own bum the other days.

    Headed to San Diego this weekend for Auntie's 90th bday and I've extended my stay - I'll come home on Monday. Hang out with my cousins on Sunday and my sister on Monday - she'll take me to the airport. Rhea will pick me up at the airport and I'll get my van back and come home. I just wish hubby could come with us, but he has to work and stay home.

    That's about it.

    OMG, Sheesh. Having the A/C down during this hot, hot spell is awful. I'm glad you have basement level bedrooms. I know our "everything room" in the basement is always the coolest in the house. We have only a half basement as the garage and front part of the house is built on a cement slab, so there's one big room plus a laundry room and a huge walk-in closet that spans the width of the entire space. But I'm sure we'd be sleeping down there on a blow-up bed if the A/C went out for more than a night.

    I'm feeling better. The ulcer is gone, the sore throat is almost gone, and the fatigue has improved a lot, although I'm still not quite back to normal. The scary thing is that the fissure that developed on my tongue is still there. :o And apparently fissues typically occur at birth or in early childhood, but not in adults. So what the heck!? Good thing is that they don't do serious harm, but who wants a funny looking tongue!!

    Regarding the scam, that was a situation that I should have recognized as being odd, but I didn't. Sunday before last I was sitting at my desk and decided to check my email. As usual, there were several emails from a clothing store I purchase from every now and then, including one about a Sunday only sale. Everything about the email looked normal, even the address from which it came. So I clicked on the "see special offer" button and it took me to what looked exactly like this business's site. No alarm bells went off because I knew it is getting time for end-of-season sales. And there was a banner at the top saying something like, order at least 5 items and get free shipping, so yeah! I like their t-shirts because they don't pull up and show my belly in class and they have some athleisure pants that work well for that, too. As usual, after I placed the order, I was told that I would receive a confirmation email. So later I looked, and there it was. Again, everything seemed normal. That is until I went online a couple of days later to pay my bill a bit early. And there was the charge in the correct amount, but the item did not give the proper business's name. Instead it was a string of letters including a couple of V's and a couple of Q's. So I went back to the confirmation email, clicked on the track your order button and got a notice saying "site not found"; tried again and saw a notice saying that the site had been reported as a possible phishing site. So contacted my credit card company and fortunately, they had not yet paid that line item and said they would not do so. They also suggested closing that card and said I'd receive the new card in about a week and they gave me the last 4 digits.

    In the meantime, I contacted the merchant, who said they had recently been made aware that someone had cloned their site. I also submitted a report to the FTC. So, it seemed like all was okay. But then 3 days later, I got a text about a charge to the new card that I had not yet received!

    So back I go to the credit card company to start all over again. They were really very helpful and this time they sent the card by Fed-Ex. But my advice to everyone is to never click on an email, even if you regularly receive emails from a merchant and everything looks okay. Just pull up a browser and go the site. That is certainly what I plan to do. And if the sale seems a little too good . . .it probably is.

    At the end of the day, I think everything is okay, but between not feeling well and dealing with this, this past week has been one for the books.

    Because my doc told me that I "really, really needed to take it easy for a few days," my steps are way down, but since eating was painful for a couple of days, my weight this morning was actually down a bit. Who knows what will happen tomorrow. I may hit the weigh-in day curse! LOL

    Lois, I'm glad you were able to celebrate your birthday with your family and that you're now able to get some movement in the water. Do you cool the pool? My friend in Palm Desert had a pool at her former residence and they just could not use it in July and August due to the heat. But they didn't cool theirs because it was so costly. If I win the $800 Million lottery tonight, I'll send you pool cooling money! :smile:
