I've earned this one - I celebrated my birthday and had a great weekend enjoying my family and hubby. Sarah - we have aerators and a waterfall on the pool and flowing them all night long does cool the pool to slightly cooler than bath water in the pool. Haha. We can usually swim into September so that's pretty awesome. If I put a cover on it I could probable get through to first part of November. But I did get my walking in this morning in the pool. Then we had our sales meeting at one of our sales centers and dang it was HOT. I rode the golf cart it is 116 today. So when I get in the pool, it's at 7am and 95. It's too dang hot in the afternoon/evening. And I'm heading to San Diego for the weekend for Auntie's 90th bday and I'm staying a couple of extra days to RELAX!! Work has been insane and I really need a break. I won't be surprised at an increase again next week - I'm probably not going to follow this plan while I'm gone.

Sarah - hoping you're feeling better and things calm down for you.

Sheesh - oh Lordy we've been without AC before. I feel for ya!

    I think that decrease is from sweating, lol! But, all is fixed today. We got lucky on Monday with a connection to hubby's childhood friend whose family owns an HVAC company. Got a quote Monday afternoon, they bumped a new construction install for us and got it put in yesterday! AC was back on at 4:30, but it took all night to cool the house down, so again we slept in a basement bedroom. The interior of the house was at 90 degrees . . more hot than outside! It's really nice and cool today, thank goodness.

    I had a haircut and playdates today, so didn't get any workout done. I did walk on the treadmill on Saturday and Monday . . split into 20 minute sessions to get an hour. Lordy, it was hot even downstairs. I have my trainer tomorrow. . trying to get back into a groove with movement and intake.

    Sarah, my gosh, there are way too many crooks in this world. Thanks for the story though . . it's a good warning. We've had mystery charges that, thankfully, the credit card company is good about removing. I recently started using Apple Pay on my phone. Most places take it now, and the cash back goes into a savings account (I set it up that way) that earns 4.15% APY. Plus, the phone requires face or passcode to transact, so an added layer of security. When we go to the ballgame, I just take my phone. Tickets in the phone wallet, money in the phone wallet. Of course, no lipstick or comb, but I stopped caring :D And, I'm glad you're feeling better!

    Lois, I'm so glad you enjoyed your birthday, and that you're getting away this weekend too. . Lucky. It seems like our summer has been our kids and grandkids coming to see us for their vacations! I enjoy it though. We plan to get away in August. My oldest and her family are coming in early August, and then we'll go somewhere. I can't complain . . we've played golf, baseball games, movies. Anyway, have so much fun and don't worry about dieting.

    Gotta run.

    Hi, ladies. Sorry to be late in posting. Yesterday was a busy day. We had an appointment with our financial advisor which punched a hole in the middle of the day and just got me off-course. Then late in the afternoon we tried to watch the National's game that had started at noon and that we recorded. And for some reason, we got a message saying "Due to programming restrictions, this program cannot be played on this device." What!?? We record every game so we can fast forward through some parts and reduce the time needed.

    So I called Xfinity, was on the phone with them more than an hour, and was then escalated to a higher tier, and then hubby took over. At that point, I came upstairs to post here, and just as I was ready to post, hubby came racing up the stairs and said Xfinity wanted me to try to stream the game. And I guess I did something wrong because my post here disappeared. Long story short, nothing was resolved and a tech is coming out today.

    Anyway, back to the topic at hand, I think my loss is probably the end result of having a very sore mouth because I took my doc's advice and took a rest on Friday. So my activity was down. I think I got about 2,000 steps on Friday.

    However, despite not feeling well, I still made 11K on 3 days and 9K on 2 days and 10K on one day. None of that brought my 7-day average up to 10K, but that's okay. Here are my 7-day stats:

    Steps = 8,836
    Kcals burned = 1,637
    Stairs = 12 floors

    Sheesh, I'm so glad your hubby knew someone in the A/C business. I'm sure a lot of people are having problems with all this heat (the time ours went out, it was also an extra hot July). It's hard to believe that I grew up and did not have central A/C until I was in my teens. But I don't think temps got this high back then--not even in the Carolinas.

    Regarding my tongue and throat, finally all test results are in and were negative. The ulcer is gone, my tongue is no longer sore, but my throat is still a little sore and my tongue still looks unusual. I hate having something that can't be quickly figured out. But I'm counting my blessings as some of our neighbors and friends are dealing with things that make this look like a cake walk.

    I'm getting concerned that Kelly has not checked in. I have seen a couple of items on Facebook from her, though, and it seems like all is okay. I certainly hope so.

    Lois, I hope Phoenix soon sees a break in the heat. I know dry heat is different than our muggy mess, but darn girl--95 at 7 a.m. is too much! Please take care of yourself and enjoy your time in California.

    Well, time to get moving on my to-do list. I'll be teaching half the class today and will also need to do set up. Tonight, I'm doing some volunteer work and since we're hitting triple digits, I hope to get to the pool for a quick dip sometime in between.

    My goal for the coming week is to eat more mindfully. When I wasn't eating as much because it hurt, I was not going hungry. I think being forced to eat slowly and not eating for entertainment made a difference and one I can replicate without the pain. Today, I'm up a bit (130.2), but if I can keep the low end of the arc below 130, that will be good progress for me. And I'd like to come back here next week and say that I did my weights routine 3 days instead of 2.

    Have a wonderful Friday eve, everyone. :smile:

    Sheesh - so super happy your ac is back up and running. I can't stand it when ours starts to falter. We had problems for a few straight years and finally, not to jinx anything, I don't think we've had any problems for the past couple of years.

    Right now - we're a hot muggy mess and will be for a few weeks as we are in our "monsoon". Yesterday and this morning I believe we were about 40% humidity. I know you live it in it for most of the time, but we're usually below 10%. We had the start of a storm come through about 11pm last night. Wind blew everything everywhere. Blew stuff that we keep on the side of the house and the noise woke me up. So in my jammies I went downstairs to help hubby bring in the cushions from the patio furniture (our covers that we use in summer need to be replaced and I just haven't made time to order new ones - they only last 1-2 years with our sun and the summer winds). Anyhow this morning we filled a 5 gallon bucket with the pine needles that blew into our pool from the neighbor's tree. I did that just before heading out to therapy. That was a bad decision. I was hot and nauseous through most of my session. But I got through it. Late July and August we have these storm systems. And they usually hit our area after I've gone to bed and will last a few weeks. Oh and my clean car looks disgraceful. I wish we'd had a lighter color car - dark gray and solid black - and it shows EVERYTHING. My gold 4Runner shows NOTHING! Ha! Anyhow, it's so bad I'm going to run to the car wash tomorrow morning before work and my trip. So heat over 110 and higher humidity is in the forecast for a few weeks. UGH.

    Great jobs on reductions!!! Feel better Sarah and I hope they figure out what's going on.

    Sheesh - while I'm looking forward to getting out of the heat and seeing everyone, the travel time is so hard and stressful for me. And I'm going to fly home on Monday - and I hate going through airports. Somehow I always get picked for screenings. I've done nothing wrong, but it's still stressing to be pulled aside. We'll see if it happens this round. Please pray it doesn't. haha.

    Morning ladies. Oh my gosh, Lois. I remember that clip of a rainstorm that you posted a couple of years ago. It was something!! And I relate to the rushing out for cushions and any else that become airborne. We do that too. We have a 12-foot wide sliding glass door going from the living room to the patio, and one time the umbrella was up and it was lifted out of the table. Fortunately it flew off away from the house. If it had hit that door, we would have been looking at a BIG expense.

    I also related to being "randomly selected" at the airport to be searched. Once I kept setting off the alarm even though I only had on cotton pants and a cotton tunic and my underwear. I had already taken off my earrings and watch and shoes. All I could think was that it was my underwire bra, but they said that would not set off the alarm. But finally, after also being frisked by a female TSA agent, I threatened to strip right then and there if they didn't send me through. And so they did. My coworker who had already made it through and was waiting for me was laughing so hard she almost peed her pants. If I'm with hubby, who works with TSA agents all the time in his job and is recognized in many airports, we just get waved through. If I'm alone . . .

    And thanks for the well wishes gals and keep them coming. I am still not up to par. I did not walk yesterday!! I know. For me that's very unusual, but by the time I got home I had zero energy and I just decided not to push it. I used to take a one-day break every week, but after I started walking with my second walking buddy that fell to the side. I'm beginning to think that it might be a good idea to resurrect that for a while and just try to get in six good days. And of course, soon we'll be going south to check on Sis and I won't have my treadmill and the heat and humidity will likely make outdoor walking next to impossible. So I have get comfortable with not always being able to get in 4 miles or so. And I think someone is looking out for me because the class I was supposed to teach yesterday got cancelled. I think heat in the clubhouse may have been a factor.

    Sheesh, I no longer care about lipstick and a comb either, and you are not allowed to carry a handbag into Nats park unless it's clear vinyl and not over a certain size. And I don't go often enough to want to buy that ugly item! Plus, I'm convinced that at my age, I'm invisible. (Although, I said that to my heterosexual male hairdresser recently and he replied, "Don't bet on that." I know why I go to that man! :D )

    But we've always had android phones, so I can't use Apple Pay. Don't ask me why we stick with those. I think it's just that our first phones were Samsung androids and so we've just stuck with what's familiar. I thought about switching when I bought my S22 a couple of months ago. Maybe next time.

    I hope that today is better as far as the fatigue goes, but in case it shows up in the afternoon, I'm off to get a few things accomplished. Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable weekend.
