Weigh day
PW 178.9
CW 178.5
This weigh day had me thinking about crazy things meat we may do on weigh day.
For instance – as soon as I woke up this morning, I got on the scale and was like whoa… Wait a minute. Then I decided to have a little coffee to see if that would help… and Yep the way came down a little bit more… Then after about an hour of getting ready for work, I realized I actually weighed myself with some clothes on so I fixed that and weighed again—a smidge came off and after all the water I had yesterday from walking the dunes, I had to go to the bathroom again so let’s see if anymore can come off.… sure enough, my weight came down a little bit more. So after three weighs this morning and a little bit of manipulating I came in below my previous weight. I was cracking up at myself how ridiculous this was! I just thought I’d share, because I am sure that I’m not the only one that has done goofy things to see if they can get that weekly number to come down a bit.
If you have any funny weigh stories or “traditions”, share them! We’re all in this together!8 -
I thought I would share my fitness goals with you guys so I have some sense of accountability.
-Run 50 miles in August
-Start cross training once/week (swimming, row machine, anything other than running)
-10,000 steps/day
-Add a mini workout during kids nap time (body weight, resistance band type things)
-Drink a gallon of water/day (it's still super hot in AZ, so I should be doing this anyway).
I'll try to keep you guys updated on how it's going from time to time. I've got a little lazy the last couple of weeks and feel like I could be doing more, so hopefully this will motivate me to push myself just a little more.4 -

Good Morning Shape Shifters! I would like to participate again in the monthly step challenge. I will keep my goal at 10,000 steps per day please.
I enjoy walking to work, and an evening walk with friends or family to wind down the day. If the weather is bad, I do have a treadmill, but I really don't enjoy using it, it's so boring. If anyone has great ideas or suggestions on how to enjoy workout on treadmill, I 'll gladly hear them.
Have a great day everyone.5 -
@roz0810 welcome to our group! Hopefully we can all work together to motivate each other and inspire each other to dig deep and reach our goals!
@Zaxa2021 I love the fitness goals and it’s so true, it brings accountability. Make sure to post on how you’re doing on them. It’s inspiring to other members!

@looneycatblue I really like how you looked at your losses by months. I’ve been at this from May and I think looking at each individual month will help me see a trend of when I was most accountable and help me get back to that mindset.
@Cyncia85 looking forward join in the role of motivator with you!
@LaurieWrobo congrats on your new job! Good luck on your step goals!

Hi All!
I live with PTSD. Anxiety is a big part of this for me. Who is anxiety's best friend? Depression. This combo has contributed to my current status when it comes to my fitness level and weight. Some days it can be really difficult to do the things (like eating properly and being active) that in the long run will help improve my mental health.
One of the things I've learned to combat my PTSD/anxiety is 'opposite action.' Sometimes I get too much in my head and it becomes rumination. One solutions for rumination is to get out of your head and into your body. When I catch myself ruminating, I get moving that is appropriate for whatever else is going one. For instance, if this is during business hours - then I give myself a 5 or 10 minute break to go for a walk.
Anyone else feel this struggle?
What helps you?

I'd like to join the step challenge for August.
For July my daily step goal was 7,000 steps.
My daily average according to Garmin for the past 4 weeks was 7,294.
For August, let's make my daily step goal 7,500 steps.
I'm curious how well I will do with this goal because my fall semester starts mid-August. I need to get my butt in gear, overcome the snoozin' habit, and wake up earlier. Exercise before work.4 -
Hello all. I'm Roz. I've been in this group (different team) before but lost motivation and didn't log in much anymore but im back! I have a lot of weight to drop. I am starting by making sure I track everything and drink 2L+ of water daily. I have been struggling with motivation. I am also going back to intermittent fasting as I need to stop eating in the evening/night. Thanks for having me
Hi @roz0810 ! Glad to have you with us...tell us a little about the goals you want to meet in August and beyond! Very glad you joined our team! I'm sure you'll find the team motivating and an extra source of support! Good luck in August!

Thank you both for becoming our motivators! I don’t post a ton but I read everything and greatly admire those who always respond with kind and thoughtful comments!5 -

Hey! Glad to be here 👍 My goals are to drop 8lbs in August. Keep drinking 2L of water daily and track everything! Beyond this I need to drop 100lbs! I weigh myself daily but Thursdays will be my official weigh in day with you guys 😍3 -

Welcome back!
I like to think of motivation as garbage (said the new team motivator).
If we wait around to be motivated, how much would get done?
I like to think of it as...
Determination > Motivation
or
Dedication > Motivation
or
Discipline > Motivation
We're all a work in progress.
Not eating in the evening has helped me. I try to have my last bites about 3 hours before I want to fall asleep. If those hunger pains creep in, I have some magnesium water. I add that Calm magnesium powder to water.2 -
@jessicakrall8 - I've got an idea on a weekly challenge.
All - Please chime in with your thoughts because I'm curious if anyone else in the group would find it beneficial.
I'm a big snoozer! I can sleep through my alarms. I've tried so many different solutions. A goal of mine that I've been trying to accomplish for such a long time is to be an early bird and work out in the morning. I've accomplished it occasionally. I'd like for it to become a habit.
Could we do some sort of early bird workout challenge?5 -

If it is not too late, please add me to the August Step Challenge.
My step goal is 8,000/day
Thank you.2 -

On the heels on @Cyncia85 …don’t wait until you’re motivated!
Here’s an article I found with some good pointers. I picked out a few that really resonated with me…
—10 minute rule: pretend you’re motivated and do at least 10 minutes before quitting, chances are you’ll keep going
—Half-mile nature walk reduces brain fatigue
—Self-care and rewards are very important in the journey
—Use positive affirmation
—Talk to yourself like you would talk to a good friend about this issue
—Practice self compassion, because harsh criticism DOESN’T work
—Research shows self compassion is more motivating, it increases motivation to recover from failures
—Self compassion decreases, psychological distress, reduces anxiety and depression, symptoms, and reduces the harmful effects of stress .

@Armygirlarmyof1 I’m sorry to hear you’re in pain and struggling. Glad you were able to get out get some things accomplished today though.
Glad you were able to get a watch to help with steps. I like to compete against myself to see if I can beat the previous day’s or week’s steps. I like when I see my trend increase. We have some big steppers in this group the amaze me like @frankwbrown @pedal__power @Pupowl and @Zaxa2021 to name a few powerhouses! I need to continue to build up to reach their steps but in the meantime I compete against myself.

Hello all,
I'm Julie, 55, married with one son. I currently live in Keller, TX (a little north of Fort Worth). I've struggled with my weight all of my adult life and am currently at my lowest weight since I gave birth to my son. Last time we were in Lubbock, we put down a deposit to hold a lot. On our upcoming trip, we will have a meeting with the builder to start plans on our new home. The plan to move to Lubbock next spring just go a whole lot more real. My son is a Sophomore at Texas Tech. We are headed to the lake house this weekend and moving our son into his apartment at Tech on Sunday. A little bit sad because he has pretty much packed his room in the knowledge that other than maybe Christmas, he won't be coming back to this house. Looking forward to the journey with all of you.
