Last week I mentioned that I was going to a three-day family event, and that family events have historically been associated with grazing behavior. My goal was to manage or minimize the grazing without being snooty about my choices.
I think I can safely say I accomplished at least 50% of that objective.
I did do some grazing. First day was good, second day was okay, third day not so much. On the plus side, I avoided the beer, wine and whiskey. I did minimal grazing on the large open container of cashews. The multiple sorts of brownies? Well, if it’s rude to refuse, I was very polite.
I’m fine with my other choices. I limited myself to one piece of cheesecake, had three tacos at one meal (which is normal for me), enjoyed the chicken noodle soup, etc. I did bring my usual breakfast and ate that, so I avoided the pancakes and toast and bacon. I got in exercise the two days that weren’t rain-inhibited.
Overall, I think I give it a C-. The result? I weighed in at the studio Thursday. I stepped on the scale, the guide said “I’ve got it”, and I stepped off, and she said “wait, that’s not right.” I smiled inside and said “I’m sure it is.” I was up 10.2# from what was a fairly low weight the prior week, but still within the “legal Lifetime” range by 0.2#.
So I’m officially in the Red Zone, which means staying within my daily points until my next studio weigh-in. I’m confident I can do that. The challenge will be the mental discipline of sticking with it when I expect my daily weights to be in the Green Zone partway through the week. My plan says “next official weigh-in”, though, so I want to be disciplined about it. After all, if I don’t follow the plan, it’s not really a plan, is it? And sticking with it for the week increases the chances I’ll “stick the landing” in the Green Zone next week.
Onward and downward!1
