Step It Up September 2023

Not a great weekend as my saboteur struck with junk food that lasted the weekend rather than a single meal. I have to be better at saying no! Back at it tomorrow with fasting and low carb now that the kitchen is close to being to rights and I can cook what I want. Football party this weekend is planned so I’ll be flexing Saturday night but plan to stick with good stuff all week so one night shouldn’t be more than a blip.0

Did my spin class Monday night and another strength session Friday. Saturday spent a couple hours weeding at a community garden (good deed and exercise) then yesterday my trainer gave me a fitness challenge-walk/run 1 mile then inverted pyramid sets of bodyweight exercises followed by another 1 mile walk/run. Sadly I walk faster than I can run or jog but I started C25K over and will stick with it as long as I can. My legs are killing me today from the weeding, lunges and squats.
Strength at lunch and spin class tonight. Food has been good but I still need to add more protein.0 -
I lost my balance the other day on Saturday night .. I have a huge black and blue bruise on my hip and I ended up in the hospital ...I thought my foot was broken again (thankfully it was not) I bent the rod in my ankle to my knee so I had to have a 7th surgery for the Dr to replace it ... I really hope this is the last one I am tired of surgeries1

@Megan_smartiepants1970 oh I'm so sorry! I really hope they get it right this time. As for the hip bruise, I recommend Arnicare gel (homeopathic) to help speed the healing of the skin and tissues below.0

Thank you ... I will look into it0 -
Not much happening in my world; I’m exercising daily and trying to watch what I’m eating but the kitchen is still unavailable so I’m doing my best. I’ve not fasted as much this week as I’ve gotten hungry around the 17-18 hour mark. But I’m trying to stretch it and am not snacking. Non scale victory though- I have two pair of compression leggings that I felt like a stuffed sausage in last fall. I wore both pairs back to back and they felt much better this year. So the scale isn’t moving much but I must be losing some fat.2

yeah here and trying to behave but getting sabotaged hard on the weekends. It's anniversary weekend coming up so there will be some drinks and camping (oh yay...when what I wanted was a romantic getaway with just us...too bad) so I won't be counting anything. I will try to walk often and minimize the damage. Meanwhile until then, I'm exercising as often as I'm allowed with kid schedules and fatigue from sleeping poorly and trying to make good choices in food and portions.0

I have to fit in some sort of workout today but am feeling time crunched. Food still good and not wanting to graze all day, so that's a win. Made a nice little keto protein dessert this week that's a keeper for when I'm short on protein and of the day. Almost like chocolate frosting LOL
2-3T plain greek yogurt
1T PB2
1T vanilla protein powder
1T cocoa powder
1 pkt stevia

I had planned for the month to be consumed by continuing to work toward reversing my diabetes & reducing inflammation so I can pass on the NAISDS and keeping my macros balanced better.
Instead, it turned out to be consumed by... kittens.
We have a feral/stray that for the past year keeps having and abandoning kittens. No one can catch her, we've been wanting to send her to the local shelter to at least get fixed and clipped, but she's too smart for that. She gives birth and then she puts them under a building via a large crack in the foundation and disappears for 2 or 3 days and if we can't get to them they don't make it.
Out of four litters in the past little over a year, 2 of the litters were completely wiped out. I managed to rescue one complete litter of 3 last year, one of them just barely made it she was so malnourished (I kept her).
Now the mother cat had another litter and all but two died before the neighbor could get them. I took the two in, they were about 2-3 weeks old so I have been bottle feeding and piddling and grooming and playing mama cat to them and basically be on call 24/7 with them. And when I am not with them I have to reassure their older sister and the dog that I still love them and am not abandoning them.
And of course loving every minute of it, lol. My oldest cat (their grandmother, we suspect she gave birth to the neglectful mother before we took her in when we moved here) died this past summer. And we have their big sister from last year anyway, who bonded with them very quickly (maybe they recognize the family scent or something? IDK) so we're keeping the two new additions to the family.
I love it and I haven't really gone off track with taking care of myself, still losing & keeping the blood sugar down & exercising and sticking to my limits, but remembering to log things and keep track has been difficult. They're starting wet food now and have finally learned to use the litter box so I'm recommitting myself to restart my recommitment.2 -

I am an unmitigated disaster as usual.

I, too, ended the month as a disaster. My kitchen being unavailable for two weeks and hosting a party with leftover goodies did me no favors. October will need to be a month of focus!0
