It'll sound cliche, but I:
1) Step back;
2) Take a deep breath;
3) Determine if any of my original plan can be salvaged;
4) If it can, I proceed with that;
5) If it can't, I formulate a new, realistic plan, and I proceed with the new plan.0 -
I'm fairly routine-dependent, so my first reaction to an unexpected change to my routine is emotional. Once I get past that, I’d say in boils down to a couple of steps.
1. How big a deal is this? Should I try to fight this, or just accept it as a temporary one-time thing?
2. Assuming I’m not gonna role with it, what is my objective here? Figure out how to stay on plan, or determine an acceptable level of damage?
3. If I’m staying on plan, I need to make disciplined choices that support that.
4. If it’s an acceptable level of damage, I need to determine what my temporary boundaries are for the duration of the disruption, and stick to that.1 -
depends very much on my mood and the situation, sometimes I can just roll with it, sometimes I will get grumpy and stay that way for a while, sometimes I go in to CEO mode and start planning a strategic response to the situation.1
