🏆Congratulations Challengers! This Fall marks our 57th season of the 5% Challenges! More seasons that Survivor! We started in Spring 2010 on SparkPeople, and successfully transitioned to My Fitness Pal. Thanks to Heidi (hicim705), Ceri (Ceriusly1), Diane (Dianedoessmiles1), Barb (ladyluk1) for moving us here in 2020!

📅Our 2023 Fall 5% Challenge starts Saturday October 7th, 2023.

🎃Fall is here, and if you have been procrastinating about getting back on track with your healthy habits, this may give you that little push. A change of seasons allows for many different types of activities, foods, celebrations and recreation. It’s a reminder that we too can change. We can learn new things, try new things, find new motivation, restart diets and exercise programs. The days are shorter but the longer evenings can be well spent with healthy activities.

Our Fall 5% Living the Good Life (LTGL) theme. Regardless of how you are today, commit to being the best version of yourself. Visualize the 'future you' in 8 weeks, and each day work towards being that happier, healthier person.

This fall take an active role in promoting your health, well-being and happiness. The difference between health and wellness - health is a state of being, whereas wellness is the state of living a healthy lifestyle. To have that healthy lifestyle/wellness, each day you need time to focus on your exercise, food choices, relaxation, sleep, mental health, staying connected, and feeling positive about life.

We all have our reasons for being here. The reason I have stayed with the 5% Challenges is I need the accountability. Each minute of exercise counts, as do the Saturday weigh ins. Each day I try to be a little better than the day before and if I stray, I have my 5% learned healthy habits and team accountability to get me back on track.

In 2008, there was no one in my real life who needed/wanted to diet and exercise. Then I joined Sparkpeople and became part of a Community of like-minded people, who wanted to be healthier and connect with others. But there were so many teams that were inactive, so I felt a little adrift. The 5% Challenges were what I needed to be with active/motivated members, to have wonderful cheerleaders and friendly competitors. We start anew each season so your teammates are active participants. My Fitness Pal is the forum that brings us together. It is why I keep coming back season after season.

You have a few days still to go, so get ready. Make this your season of wellness!

Your leaders will help/guide you in how we do the challenges. Wherever we travel regardless of season, it’s a lovely summer day, we are physically fit and have ease of motion.

The basic 5% Challenge requirements are recording - your weekly weigh ins, daily exercise minutes, and daily Living the Good Life Challenge points. If you are restarting your exercise and diet program, proceed at a pace you are comfortable with.

Some of the Challenges may be things you are already doing, and for that you are to be commended. It will be easy for you to contribute points to your team. For some of us, these Challenges really will challenge us as we work on developing healthy habits. Our last weigh in will be Saturday, December 4, 2023.

Although the LTGL Challenge changes weekly, Challengers are encouraged to do their best to continue each challenge throughout the entire 8 weeks. Enjoy!
