Short back ground. Lost 50 lbs. the 1st part in 2012. Lost another 7 in the latter part of 2012. Was eating what the health coach directed me to eat and was walking 20 minutes 6 x's a day. No changes in diet or exercise, no indulging during the holiday. Here comes late Feb 2013 and I gained 10 lbs. within a matter of 1.5 months. Okay, let's up this exercise. Nothing. Here we are in Sep 2013. Not an ounce lost but exercise is sweat pouring goodness. Health coach says, keep doing what you're doing. A dietician (let's not forget as he mentioned it several times, he's got 8 years of schooling regarding nutrition and weight loss) I consulted handed me a paper telling me to eat 1,300 cals a day filled with foods I've never heard of. No direction there. Hmmm. I'm no longer type II diabetic due to healthier eating but I still have to watch my carbs. Still have to watch the fats due to not wanting to have another heart attack. No processed foods! I have the clear all to do what I want to do exercise wise so what gives? I'm not seeing where the issue lies and I figure y'all will see it for me. I took a 4 day break out of frustration but maintained my eating plan albeit a bit skittish this weekend. I know part of the issue is that I know what I need to eat I just can't get it together to obtain the cals I need without bloating my stomach out and being miserable. I do have great energy levels. My doc realizes loosing the fat is better than what the scale says, however, he wants me to do both. The following pertains:
Provide your stats (height/weight/age/bodyfat% if you know it/etc): I am 5'3.5" and weigh 164.00. I weighed 157.00 early Jan 2013). Body fat according to BodPod is 38% which is overweight. Other numbers obtained through the BodPod:
18 June 2013
% Fat: 38.1
Fat Free Weight: 102.032
Body Weight: 164.880
Est RMR: 1309
25 July 2013
% Fat: 36.2
Fat Free Weight: 104.826
Body Weight: 164.251
Est RMR: 1336
What's your current gross intake of calories, on average? I'm doing good if I reach 980 calories per day. When I hit 1,000 or over I'm miserable. Be advised that I have never had an ED nor is that my intent. Like I stated before, I'm finding it difficult to put together a good solid diet plan while maintaining the macros/micros set for me.
What's your current average intake of protein, carbs, and fats, in grams? Protein 46 g's (this number is not that important to my health issues so it can increase); Carbs 30-45 g's per meal (this was recently increased); fats 40 g's with a limit of 10-15 g's of sat. fats per day.
Do you use a food scale and measure everything? I have always measured liquids and started using a scale about 3 weeks ago.
Do you track all of your intake, daily? (Everything?) Yes everything, including my Saturday margarita(s).
Do you take cheat days or days off? If you want to call it cheat day, Saturdays...margarita(s) but food remains healthy. Work out days is Saturdays.
How much weight have you lost so far and over what time period? I weighed 157.00 in early Jan 2013 after a 57 lb. weight loss. Stalled at 164-165 since then.
Describe your activity (exercise and non exercise) and did you change that activity within the last couple of months? Desk job. I keep 8 lb. weights at my desk and squat etc. throughout the day. 2 days of 1 hour Body Pump/Power Pump classes. 3 days of 40-50 minute cardio (walking up hill on treadmill, can only do 5 minutes of running right now, elliptical, arc trainer, stationary bike). 1 day of some sort of cardio outside. I have weights, bands, treadmill, bike, stationary bike, exercise balls etc. available at home as well.
How long have you been stalled and if it is not a complete stall please be very specific as to how much you have lost over the stalled period. Stalled 9 months and must lose another 20-30 lbs. but most importantly is lose the fat.
Any assistance/insight you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
Are you breastfeeding? No thanks.
Do you have thyroid issues/risks or PCOS? Hypo, on meds since last year and they've been working.

Hi!
Based on your calories and macros, at your stats you should be losing at an intake at less than 1,000 calories a day, even with hypothyroidism. To be honest, this is something that we will not be able to help with as there appears to be some other underlying issue. We would recommend you printing out your diary and taking it to your doctor.
We hate to put you off, but at less than 1,000 calories, the only thing that we would be able to do is walk your calories up. However, eating more appears to be an issue based on what you have said as well as you really should be losing so trying to work out what the underlying issue would be far more beneficial in the long run.0 -
Thanks Sara. I agree with your comments. After reading several topics on my issues I don't see why some of the macros/micros for me can't be raised. If that can be done I would have no problem consuming at least 1,300 nutrient rich calories. With your comment I have to wonder if my numbers weren't set superbly low just to get my blood numbers way down in a short period. Thanks for your time and I'll be asking for assistance again in a few months after I get this settled with my health team.0
