It sure takes me a lot longer to reduce than it takes to increase in weight, argh.

Can't be on long with Family Zoom coming up, but wanted to get the new thread started. I hope everyone is well.

Lois, I'm sending your hubby healing thoughts for his back. You cannot miss Disney!! Take care, and at night if you get up, turn the lights on. . . I've hurt myself a few times thinking I could sneak into the bathroom in the dark. I don't do that anymore . . nightlights everywhere.

Sarah, I hope you're okay. . I was surprised to not see you had already posted. I'm hoping the car is already fixed, and that the gods of household and car repairs are finished sending trials your way, lol.

Gotta run now. I'll check back tomorrow.

Sorry to be late. I did weigh yesterday morning, but honestly, yesterday was just crazy, and in fact, things have been pretty crazy here for about a week now.

The HVAC issue continues. The company came out twice, but we are still getting the same error message, so they are coming again tomorrow. Regarding the freezer, hubby googled the issue and learned that ice in the bottom is caused by a plugged defrost drain. He then searched on that problem and found a You-Tube video on how to fix it. :p It took him all morning on Tuesday, as it was not an easy fix, but it seems he was successful. Probably saved us four hundred dollars. Didn’t do a lot for his poor neck, however.

And the car is still in the shop, but we hope it will finally be ready tomorrow afternoon. I may have mentioned that hubby contacted the corporate office of the body shop and they did respond a couple of days ago. They said that 1-2 hours a day per car is NOT a corporate policy and they agreed that more than 6 weeks is far too long f.or the repair. They said they were taking control of the situation. I think the fact that hubby stayed pleasant but firm paid off.

On Saturday morning, we decided that even though it was rainy, we wanted to get out of the house and do something fun, so we grabbed our rain gear and headed to Waterford, Virginia for a fall festival. By the time we got there, the rain had stopped, the sun was out, and it was a beautiful fall afternoon. Boy we needed that!

Then on Sunday, on the way home from the grocery store, I looked at my hands and saw that I had a ring on one hand, but the diamond ring that I wear on the other was missing. When it’s chilly, as it was that morning, my rings are a little too loose, but they're okay in warm weather so I haven’t had them resized. Anyway, I hoped that in dressing quickly I had simply put on only one of my rings and that it would be upstairs in the little dish on my vanity. But that was not the case. So hubby and I went back, talked to the people at customer service (no one had turned in a ring), left a description and a phone number, and then looked everywhere I had been in the store. No luck!

I was pretty upset. Besides its actual value, it is of great sentimental value. But I’ve read so much recently about shopping lifting, and theft, etc., and from experience with a necklace I lost, I was afraid that someone simply found it and thought it was their lucky day. I told hubby that no matter how much I needed money, I would always turn in jewelry I found. He responded that there are other people who would do the same and that I should not think everyone out there is bad. He also suggested that I call my friend Sue who lost everything she had a few years ago. And just as I started to do that, hubby’s cell phone rang and I saw that it was the Safeway, and they told us that someone had just turned in my ring.

When we picked it up I asked if the person left their name and was told he did not. For some reason, I just wanted to know something about the person and asked them to describe him. They replied that he was an older Asian man and that he did not want to leave his name, but that he had waited while the manager called and they told him I was on my way back. Turns out he waited in the parking lot, waved us down as we left, and asked if I was the lady who lost the ring. He said he just wanted to make sure I got it and he wanted to see my happy face. I tried to give him some cash, which he refused, so then I asked if I could give him a hug, and he said, “That I will take!” Honestly, it restored my faith in humanity.

Oh, yes, and on Tuesday night, I got a text from a first cousin saying that she and her husband were coming up to Annapolis to a boat show and would like to see us on Wednesday. I won’t go into all the details, but I hit the ground running yesterday to get ready for dinner guests. Then late in the day, we learned they had gotten a very late start and were not able to make the detour. We tried to figure out a way to meet them in route, but with rush hour, etc., it wasn’t going to work out. So all that work . . .

Lois, I understand how you feel about a weekend alone. When I'm by myself, I get things done that I would never accomplish with hubby here. And boring as it may sound, I get real satisfaction about making inroads with some of those tasks that I just don't tackle on a regular basis. And I don't blame you for wanting to make sure that you're as healthy and mobile as you can be for your Disney trip. I know when you left for that wedding, you never thought you'd badly injury yourself. And they say that most accidents happen at home. Once you're back, maybe we can all set some goals like the old, old days!

Sheesh, the less we have to lose, the slower any loss becomes. And I seem to seesaw back and forth. I also think being short and older makes it harder for me to move that scale. But you're going in the right direction.

Now before, I go (and I can't believe how much I've written), here are my 7-day averages.

    Steps = 10,671
    Kcals burned = 1,747

I am still not obsessing with steps but instead trying to keep an eye on Kcals burn. And talk about hard. It's so darned hard to get t hat number to move.

Kelly hope to hear from you soon. And thanks for listening to all my whoas of late, ladies.

This was Wednesday. Today, up that .4 but I think it's what I ate or how I ate yesterday. Spent the day in the office and didn't eat anything but cheese sticks and a couple of bars. Got home and was ravenous. I threw together salad with my taco meat and stuff, but it tasted way saltier than usual. And my fingers are swollen today. So I'm hoping I see it go back tomorrow.

Sarah - I am so happy you got your ring back. I believe I shared that I had mine resized and I think they're looser than they've ever been (except today with the swelling). I bought some silicone ring sizer things to add as I want to ensure I don't lose them when we're on vacation. I may actually just leave them home. The diamonds are small, but the rings themselves are priceless to me. So I can only imagine what you felt. Actually hubby had misplaced my engagement ring during one of my surgeries and I couldn't find it for over a year. I was pretty upset. And then I found it in our bedroom under the bed...I swear I had looked there before. I think he found where he had it and put it there at some point...honestly. He says no, but I vacuum under there and it wasn't there before. Anyhow, I'm not confident in getting them resized down at this time, so I'm hoping the silicone thing works.

Hopefully you'll get your car back tomorrow.

I am slammed with work and the new software. On PTO tomorrow but will be running around getting food etc for Rhea's bday party on Saturday. Sunday we pick up Rhea for an overnight and have her all day on Monday as school is out for just one more day after a two week fall break. I probably should have taken Tuesday off to recover...eek. And my friend who has been helping with housekeeping has been down for a couple of weeks, so tomorrow morning, I have to get at least the floors done before we get Rhea as she plays on the floors most of time.

Sarah, I'm so happy you got your ring back. <3 The story really made my day too, because some days I feel pretty discouraged with humanity. The call to corporate did the trick, and I'm sure you'll have your car . . probably today. :) The fall festival was a great idea as a much needed "fun break" for you and hubby. Hopefully the HVAC issue will be resolved soon. Could it just be a bad thermostat?

Lois, I'm so excited for you to go to Disneyland! My Oregon daughter decided to take her girls for their fall break, and she's there with them now. They're having a wonderful time just the girls. When do you leave, and is hubby's back okay?

Yesterday, we had a scare with my daughter here. She has been having Braxton Hicks contractions the last month now, which are no big deal if she puts her feet up and rests, but of course she doesn't always do that. She's a mom of a 2 year old (on Tuesday!!) and a step mom of an 11 year old, and has a job, too. Her hubby has to travel for his job also. She has a sitter come during the day to supervise her 2 year old, but she works from home, so sometimes she's with her girl, lifting her etc. So, she started having serious, painful contractions, she called her husband and the doctor wanted her to go into the hospital labor and delivery department. I drove south to her house (40 minutes away) to take over for the nanny. They put her on an IV and monitored her and the baby for a few hours. She isn't due until December, so we don't want to have a new baby quite yet! She was dilated a little, but it didn't progress, and the contractions settled down. Her husband canceled his work trip. They got back home later that night. The doctor told her she has to rest more, although bed rest is not prescribed yet. Hubby and I are "on call" for them. I'm going to have to nag her more to rest. She's been doing yoga, but the doc says no more of that either. Please send good thoughts for her.

This morning I had my yearly check-up with my primary care physician. He took blood, but everything else looks good. He wants my Thyroid checked because I told him I feel a bit dizzy at times. But, I suspect my BP med is what's causing it. When I exercise more and work to reduce my weight, I seem to get more dizzy. He said to cut the pills because I'm already on the lowest dose. I asked him about the veins in my legs, and he referred me to a vein doctor to have them injected . . not serious, just vanity going to Mexico, lol. Have you ladies had that done or know anyone who has? And he says I don't have to have a mammogram this year . . I can go every other year now. Yay!

Kelly, I'm looking forward to hearing from you. I think of you often there in lovely Canada with your peace and good healthcare system, lucky girl. I usually look at your weather too, and many days it's very similar to my weather. I hope you're enjoying the cabin! We are having the most glorious fall colors this year. Probably because of the wet winter and spring we had. I'm going to get out to enjoy now.

    Have a great weekend.

Sheesh...just did a quick jump on to break up my day. I will add your daughter to my prayers for the little one to stay put until December. Gosh young moms think they're invincible sometimes (actually I believe it's all women, truth be told). She needs to let the nanny handle the little and 11 year old. Whew. Positive thoughts. My son came three weeks early because I wouldn't slow down. Fortunately, he was closer to term than your daughter is now.

We will be at Disneyland for the Thanksgiving holiday in November. We are so so excited. Rhea got six new princess dresses (the comfy kind) in preparation of the trip. The comfy kind still needs a slip as some of the seams just hit her chest and belly in an irritating way (which is what we were hoping to avoid). She knows we're going but doesn't know when. I had a Rhea day yesterday. Hubby worked most of the day. However, Rhea wanted to go to Grandpa's fitness class in the morning - she even left her Barbies to go. Hubby was thinking I was urging her but when I asked her again if she'd rather stay home....NOPE...I wanna go to Grandpa's Karate school for his fitness time. Haha. She ran around in between the ladies as they were working out...she mimicked them when she didn't think anyone was looking and she mastered climbing the wavemaster bag. To sit at the top and wait for Grandpa to help her down. I had a list of ideas/activities in case we had downtime or she got moody. We took her to an arcade pizza place for lunch. The kid can live on cheese pizza. And we played some games (well Gpa played more than she did...not quite her thing - yet. She got sad because in 30 mins Gpa didn't earn enough tickets to buy anything big...she got a ton of small crap, but was having a whiney fit in the car on the drive home. As soon as we came in, she ran up to her room and cried. I sent Gpa after her. I finally had to go up and she calmed back down. Oh the stress of an upset grandkid. Well, i think I did a good job, as I got her across town in time for gymnastics and she was tired out enough to nap on the way and still do her class. My failure was that I left behind the cookies she decorated for her mom and dad (she did really well handling the icing and learning not to go too close to the edge). I have an in office meeting tomorrow afternoon so I'll bring them over to them after work. That should redeem me in her eyes...haha.

I am not looking forward to tomorrow's weigh in, lots of pizza over the weekend and a slice yesterday. My tummy did not appreciate it...eek. I will weigh in the morning, however, since I have to go across town for meetings unsure if I'll be able to post tomorrow or Thursday.

Kelly - your cabin pics on FB looked great. Looks like you guys had a great time.

Sarah - hoping you got your car back and all else is well.

    Back to work.
