Only a little sweet stuff, and I'm up a quarter pound. We had a very fun Halloween. Since we get so few kids trick-or-treating in our neighborhood, we opted for a bowl of candy on the porch, and went to our daughter's home to take granddaughter out. Their neighborhood is a bustle of families with small children. . . so cute and fun. She was "Tigger" and looked darling. Only barely 2 years old, but got it down with the "trick or treat" and getting rewarded with candy, lol! Her big sister was so cute helping to show her the ropes. Some of the adults in that neighborhood really got into it also! I just wore my cat ears and cat shirt Our daughter looks like she has a large basketball under her shirt, ha ha! She's had a few minor Braxton Hicks pains, but nothing serious like previously. She has stopped picking up her 2 year old, and most everything else. It's hard for her because she's very active and fit so this feels yucky. Pregnancy is no joke.
I can't believe how scary that dog attack was! Ugh. What kind of dog was it that attacked? I don't know why people have aggressive, vicious dogs as pets in suburban neighborhoods. Not smart at all. I hope the little dog will be okay. The owners of the attacking dog will be liable. So sad.
Wow, Lois, I've never even heard of the gadget you talked about cooking with. I have an instapot, but seldom use it. . got me to thinking about getting it out again. No air fryer, and since you say there's a learning curve . . nope In fact, I think I'm going to order Thanksgiving from a local restaurant that sent out a menu that looks so yummy. I've never done that before. They're offering sides and fixings only, and I roast the turkey. They have really good food, so I think I'll try that this year. We're flying to Oregon on the 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th . . going to see our granddaughter in her school play, and see our daughter's finished remodel. They did it in 2 stages, and now it's all done. She's very excited with the outcome.
Sarah, you're doing really well at keeping your weight down! I'm trying so hard to join you in the 120's! Sometimes I think "Oh, I'm fine with where I am" but then I see photos of myself from different angles, and I think "Nope . . . 120's is much better". It's amazing how much difference it makes with the various fat rolls and muffin top, lol!! Speaking of which, I'm off to work out.

Sorry to be late posting this week. I did weigh yesterday and captured my 7-day averages, but it was an incredibly busy day and I just never got here to post.
The HVAC people were back yesterday for the 6th time (!), and I think the problem is finally fixed. And that's a good thing. After a week of unseasonably warm temps (low 80s on some days) we went quickly in the other direction. It was 27 degrees when I got up at 7 a.m. I looked out on the back patio and the big pots of coleus that have stayed lovely throughout the summer and early fall are now "Addams Family plants." Just black slimy stalks. I ran out and clipped a few before it got too cold yesterday afternoon and put them in a vase in the kitchen so I can at least enjoy their color a few more days. The other flowering plants are also gone, but surprisingly, the hanging ferns look relatively okay!
I think the unseasonable warmth last week is one reason that my weight stayed steady. But now, I'm afraid it's me and dreadmill, so I'll need to be more careful with intake. Although yesterday, intake was really good, and this morning I weighed 129. So it's more than calories. It's salt and fiber and all that other stuff, too.
Halloween was good here, but we bought way, way too much candy. We had about 40 trick-or-treaters, and it was such fun to see all the kids and their great costumes. But ever since that year when a bus drove up and we had more than 100 kids, we've always over bought. I have be sure to put the bulk away so it's not a constant temptation. Oddly, I have found that the itching I experience many evenings is worse if I eat a lot of sugar. I mentioned that to my dermatologist on Monday and she said sugar is an inflammatory!
Sheesh, I'm so glad to hear that your daughter is still doing okay. And regarding the air fryer, there are literally dozens of recipes for brussels sprouts with a balsamic dressing that are made in a conventional oven. And remember, I'm a little shorter than you, so I have to weigh a little less to be about the same as you.
Lois, I am so glad your cameras caught that dog attack. It will not make up for the trauma the owner of the small dogs and especially the little children, experienced. And it certainly won't make up for the injuries to one of the "fluffs." But at least the large dog's owner will not be able to shirk responsbility. It just hurts my heart to envision this. I love dogs, but I don't love owners who do not keep their pets restrained and do not train them. Also, I'm glad you had the toe checked and that it's doing okay. It will be Disneyland time before we can blink!
Kelly, hope you get a chance to check in. I think you're probably getting plenty of exercise putting up insulation and getting the cabin ready for winter. My dad owned an insulation company, and I "helped" a few times when I was a kid. He finally relegated me to stuffing insulation around windows with a butter knife!
And before I go, we had the big kahuna observe our class. The other instructor and I were pretty nervous, but when she met with us after class she said, "I want you to see my notes." And down at the end, in big letters underlined three times, she had written, "Perfect Class!" We are so proud. She said she even took some notes and is going to add some of our verbal instructions to those included in the national curriculum.
And finally, here are my 7-day averages:
Steps = 13,237
Kcals burned = 1,830
Next week won't look nearly this good since I won't be doing my hilly outside route very often.
Have a good week everyone.0 -

Sorry for the super duper late post. Life has been CRAZY!! The dog attack was anxiety for a few days. The owner of the injured dog came by and I emailed them the videos just in case they need them. I did advise not watching unless they were truly thinking of legal action. Their dog did have surgery and is on the slow mend. The attacking dog is a pit mix I think. They've tried to rehab him, they did walk him twice a day to keep his energy down and even re-homed him a couple of times only to get him returned. So far, no activity from animal control or PD to remove the dog. But now I do have a fear for Rhea and may not go "around the block" on her bike rides etc to avoid crossing in front of their house. I'd kill the dog if it came close to us but I don't want Rhea to have that experience at all so I'd rather avoid the area and quietly research ways to get the dog removed. He's a safety concern to anyone walking in front of their home.
Anyhow, I haven't been great at following my plan and this past weekend we had the TKD picnic. Because Rhea had come up, I stuck around and had a sandwich and green salad, two petite brownies. And a very bad tummy ache. I gained 3 lbs at that event. I think the bread just swelled in my belly. I'm down 1 but still feel yucky. I'm a little concerned about the junk food I'm going to be eating at Disneyland and how my tummy reacts (I don't care about gains on this trip...I'll address that on the return). Ah well, pepto, immodium and colace...whatever combination I need will be in our luggage. And we're all talking about sharing ALL of the novelty treats (the list came out Friday) so no one has to eat an entire item alone... unless one wants to of course...but we're all wanting a taste of everything...
Christmas trees stink!! Last year our standing tree had 3/4 of the prelit lites go out....so on 12/11/22 I ordered a replacement from Costco, which went straight to storage for this year. It was one of those Twinkly/programmable trees. Very pretty. But also very wobbly at the part 2 & 3 connection. The connection spots don't appear to be as deep/secure as my last tree. So, I ordered a different tree from Costco and it arrived Friday. We put that one up as well, side-by-side so we could compare. The new one is also pretty wobbly at the connecting sections. At this point I was willing to string lights the old fashioned way but it's already gone. GGGRR I had already donated my old tree. So I went shopping yesterday. I hit Home Depot and Wal-Mart. ALL of the new trees are wobbly at the connection locations. I thought I found one at Home Depot and I dragged hubby back with me, but it proved to be the same wobbly as what we have. We've opted to keep the tree we received on Friday - std warm lights/multi changeable but not cool patterns. We just like the overall look better. Now I'm trying to research how to stabilize the tree before I begin decorating this weekend. Friday we have to return the Twinkly tree to Costco... Hubby's busy weekends are now over, so we begin decorating in earnest this week. Exterior lights go up on Saturday morning. This week is inside decorating only and outside will be next weekend. We're getting there.
Sheesh - your trick or treating adventure sounds great. Hubby and I went to Rhea's and we went with her dad. Rhea even let Grandpa dress up in his Sam (from Trick or Treat movie). She often told him to remove the mask.. Once she saw it was him again, she told him he could put it back on. Every now and then she needed reassurance. They have a couple of streets that are super decorated. She was more interested in seeing everything and when she got candy - she told them she had to have something without nuts.... She had a decent haul, but not overwhelming. We skipped many houses for the candy part. Hopefully your daughter is resting once again and letting that new baby continue to bake.
For Thanksgiving, we've actually done the stores a couple of times. Hubby admits he prefers whatever I make over it, but he's also understanding how much work goes into it. It's been a saver when we needed it...and usually order it only when we're eating elsewhere and want leftovers....I always roast my own turkey tho.
Sarah - Congrats on your class!!! That is awesome. Keep it up. Hoping your HVAC is completely repaired. And our temps are still high.... we did drop to the low 80s for a couple of days, but back to 90-91 yesterday and today. At night it's been in the 60's.
I'll check in again on Thursday with Wednesday weight. I have to be in Scottsdale Wednesday morning for a few meetings and then crazy to catch up on paperwork in the afternoon. Still working on the new software launch... target is mid-January to have the sales team live, but I still have so much work to do between now and then. Have a great day!0
