Today's Topic: Year end Planning
Is it too early to start thinking about making changes for 2024 in your diet, eating, consumption, variety, menu, volume, mental attitude toward eating habits, and the list goes on.
You may not think planning is worth spending time on and maybe take it a meal at a time and that can work for lots of people as well.

Any plans on the horizon?

I should be retired at my age but but I just keep on working. Partly because I want to be able to keep feeding myself and DW and DS. 🙂

As far as planning this year I'm going to make it a point to slow it down and do some meal planning in December including what to buy and keep on hand for prep. I haven't helped DW near enough in the past in this area. So I'm am going to do that for sure.

It seems that everything comes before meal planning thus we eat poorly planned meals resulting in poorly balanced meals many times. Not good so I'm gonna make that a priority one and make it happen.

So 2 days ago my DW and I attended the first meeting of a "preventing Type 2 Diabetes" program being offered by our local hospital system. It is a CDC sponsered program which was offered to us for free (funded by the CDC) After reviewing some of the materials we got from them this week, my quick take is it was a weight watchers meeting with a focus on the impact on blood sugar. There were about 40 - 50 people in the meeting which started with a weigh in! We got a schedule and list of topics which included heading's like Tracking, weighing and measuring, exercise, sleep etc (sound familiar?) Anyway trying to religously attend those meetings and taking the program to heart, is my personal plan for next year. Already started on exercise, and tracking for the past 2 weeks.

Keep on keeping on is my mantra. I do plan to drop another 4-6 pounds during the next year, AMD not re-gain them!!
We do plan some meals ahead of time, but usually refer to our "schedule" for ideas. Most are very WW friendly, and balance well with MFP's caloric and micro numbers.

    I don’t plan to change anything - I don’t think . . .

The last few weeks (months?) I’ve been in a bit of a “what can I get away with” mode. I’ve been tracking honestly, but have little donut and candy bar splurges. The swing from the morning of my weekly weigh-in to just a few days later can be 5 pounds or more, and I’ve been scrambling back to my Green Zone more and more.

I know that behavior is associated with what put me up over goal in 2014 and started my wandering in the wilderness, so I’d like to alter it. Not sure specifically how to do it, but I am, as my brother-in-law from Texas might say, “fixin’ to think on it”.

    Stay tuned.

My goals are fitness oriented. I added another day of gym in July. Took about a month to settle on a routine. So I should have 6 months in end of February. Do an overhaul then.
