Actually started it a couple of days early. After Xmas at a family event in Boston, followed by another family event in Philadelphia, I started doing the tracking thing right before the 3rd family event in NJ. We arrived home on Friday the 29th, and I was already into a better routine for the previous 48 hours.
so Its just another day for me.

We had a quiet evening, just the two of us, and were asleep by 10:30 PM - other than waking for the fireworks people set off from time to time,

The end of 2023? Although we didn’t explicitly celebrate it, I made a collection of poorer choices the final three days that cost 208 points against my daily budget of 90 over that same period. Needless to say it was a bit of a “scared straight” moment, and I’m down into what would be Yellow if I weighed in today. Still shows I’m capable of doing damage, though . . . 🤷🏻‍♂️

We also had a quiet evening also, 10:30-11:00 into bed. I weighed in this AM 0.2 below Goal, with shoes, long johns, and jeans. I, like most of us, want to drop 5# -10# by next year, so this gives me some incentive to keep doing what I have been doing this last couple of weeks.

I stayed up until midnight, and my son (who is on winter break) came down to watch the ball drop with me. Mrs. 0mania was out of town. I ended the year ~6 pounds over the end-of-year last year, but I went back and reviewed my old notebooks (that I track my weight and running) and found that this is not far-off from where I usually am.

Reviewing my old notebooks was an interesting exercise. It's funny how we "mis-remember" things. I've been arguing that I should really be down in the 130 range, but I've been mostly in the low-140's for years and years! To be fair, I don't think that's a good thing, but I somehow thought that these higher-range weights (for me) are abnormalities, when in fact, they're the norm.

I still am not ready to give-up on getting a few extra pounds off. But, at least I understand that this has been a nearly decade-long struggle.

On a good note, I hit my running goal, and set an even higher goal for 2024. I woke up on Jan 1st and did my first run of the year. No rest for the wicked.

Bed at 11:00. The usual time. If I woke up because of fireworks I don’t remember.

We did make it to 12 pm 1st time in several years. I had lost a few lbs due to Pneumonia but got well by the end of the year and put it back on.

So it's always a new beginning with the dawn of a new year. I'm settling in and not through testing and tasting.
I definitely have a lot of weight to lose.
