Daily Check-In

Hello - I’m checking in to say that I’m done with my meals for the day and am gratefully in recovery.
I see this is not an active group/thread, but nonetheless I hope to check in after I’ve posted my food for the day, for a bit of added accountability.
I’m closing out Day #2 after a long and painful time away from recovery.

Hi there SenchaJill. I too am a food addict returning to recovery after slowly slipping back into some of the old habits since 2017..noticed more rationalization going on!! Now it’s 2024 and I don’t know my wt because I don’t weigh anymore but my pants are become tighter and my negative thinking is rampant and I finally gave in again to surrender. I follow the Prism WT Loss Management Program (..I think I tried OA before LONG time ago). I am on day 6 … I had victory today when I was making my pudding (diet pudding) but realized it wasn’t part of the program …and stopped and confronted my rationalizations it’s ok cuz you’re not really in a group.. you’ve already started putting the ingredients in the pot are you going to waste them now? Thank you Lord that you gave me strength to comfort behavior that would sabotage my goals!! Thank you for posting and sharing some of your story!! Jackie

    Hi SenchaJill,
I've been in OA for the last 6 months, but the last month I am really struggling to stay abstinent. I think I need to start logging my food each day on MFP. I think I got off track because my food plan is too flexible.

I think daily checking in is a great idea as it keeps us on track and ensures consistency which is my biggest problem. I am re-starting again today.

Hi ! I check-in daily by tracking in MFP app, foods and beverages I consumed during the day . There have been changes to the MFP app, in smart phones anyways, so other members can’t peek at one’s food record, but it’s there . ☀️🌸🌼

    Good morning, everyone,
    Lovely summer morning here . 🌼 🥳
    Random Friday check-in : lost a bit so it’s 218.5.
Abstinence being accomplished so far by watching intakes of calories, sugar, salt/sodium, greasy foodstuffs, carbs, gluten, wheat and the list goes on .
Lol ! . By ‘watching it’ I do mean restricting it somewhat and cutting it out if my miraculous body metabolism can handle that.
KEEPING MY EYES ON THE PRIZE !
    Yay for us all !!
    Have a lovely weekend, everyone . ☀️🌸

Daily Check-in: New-ish to OA, doing 90 in 90...of a sort. So far I did podcasts on steps 0-3, & then listened to a meeting last night at 3AM (US time) which was a UK meeting. Not a great connection, but I made the effort. So that counts.

7 things 2 DO in the next week:
    • I need to find my old old journal of meetings. (I take notes on ideas and doodle to pay attention; otherwise I knit.)
    • I need to get a sponsor. Either local or phone.
    • I need to attend a new-comers meeting, on the phone, soon.
    • I need to attend one of those special meetings for 100 pounders.
    • I need to attend a local meeting.
    • I need to dig out the books (Big Book, etc).
    • I need to attend an online/phone meeting tonight.

Have a great weekend everyone. Just for today

So far, the weekend is going slow, though my stomach had issues midday today, Saturday, after a bit of a junky thing from the morning (& I was going to eat my regular whole grain bread & nut butter but then ooj) so then didn't eat anything until dinner, which was big since I had only had less than 200 cals other than the latte in my cafe latte (1:1). Then I also had a treat, of the pumpkin spice variety, for dessert. I find I need to eat dessert, but focus on proper portion/proportion/healthfulness...otherwise I start to feel resentful and deprived, which feelings are the stepping stones to binge city.

Also, another thing to do. My scale is broken...it doesn't light up. Either it was harmed in a flood last spring, which I didn't think it was, or the batteries are dead. It's a pain to deal with getting the right size battery, but oh well, that's life. So that's bonus 8 of the things I gotta do. Plus missed 2 meetings as I've been less active for the last couple. But that's not hard to make up, yet.

Well this is my Saturday & Sunday post

Mon-Tues post: Got caught up over the weekend on 90 in 90, and did long-ish walk on Sunday, and was doing some non-OA but strong self-dev (shadow work) stuff on Mon & Tues via an online conference, some of which re-inforced OA. I crammed a week's content into about 24 hours, pulling an all nighter. Was a bit sedentary thus. However, because today is the first day of the month, I wanted to make sure I got something in so I did 15 min of low-impact cardio, after I opted not to go outside as I thought it was too cold for my sleep-deprived self and might not be healthy. So I'm caught up, and not doing too bad. Also signed up for 5% group, and also Leslie Sansone Walking group (wanted to do running group, but that might be a little intense for me at this level.) One of the OA meetings on Sunday was an OA HOW meeting...also quite intense/strict.

    So I'm caught up now...of the 90 in 90, I've done 10 so far (I include LupineHoll. & re-listening to some, esp step 3.

Goals for the week include most of goals from Sept 27, plus fixing scale. Good night.

Wed: made up for sedentary...moved for four hours today, 3 of it grocery shopping at a big box store that competes with Walmart (Meijers), and might have been dragging there because I was tired after walking the dog "Garbanzo" at the SPCA   for an hour; also staying on track, under 1650

Thurs...90 min mowing lawn (with a rotary mower...no battery/gas; just me and the blades (which have needed sharpening)...it was killer cardio) Ended up eating double serving of my snack that I've been craving (really I want nachos...but easiest was some reduced-fat (slightly lower calories) cheese (for protein...I was kinda low), with corn chips. Also kinda listened to a meeting, and some podcasts while I was mowing. Was actually outside longer because had to take *frequent* breaks. So basically, on track (was over with 2nd serving, which I wouldn't have had...but was awakened as I was falling asleep by a possum at the window scratching at an old food container I put outside without rinsing. So kinda food as self-soothe, plus no late-night resistance. Meanwhile tons of stuff still on sparkpeople...looks like even videos

Fri-Walked sister's dog for 40 min; Sat-mowed side-lawn with rotary mower; binged a bit on more corn chips late Friday (up too late...ate) and late enough I counted most as Saturday, which then made it hard to not go over my calories, before the exercise cals. In reviewing the week:

    BASE: 1650
    Sat: 1647
    Sun: 1438
    Mon: 1701
    Tues: 1855 (1858)
    Wed: 1646 (3443)
    Th: 2032 (3020)
    F: 1649 (1970)

    It's my 13th day back.
