Today's Topic: Accountability /
Do you feel at this stage of your weight loss-maintenance stage of your life are you accountable to just yourself? Do you feel this thread helps you to be accountable?

Is there someplace or website or others that you think you would do better with being accountable?

I'm very busy for my age at 76. My Family life my Real Estate Brokerage Business, my Kiwanis commitment, Dr appointments, Family obligations, Church Life and other business obligations seem to absolutely fill my day.

I have to really concentrate on losing weight but sometimes the day gets by really fast. I use this board and threads to be accountable along with the MPF App weigh in on Fridays.

I've really been struggling since January 2020. On again off again meals that are on plan and some that aren't. If that sounds confusing that's because it is. I know age as something to do with it along with heart condition, medications, bladder quit working and a few other items.

I don't focus on the issues I have because I'd never get anything accomplished. I'm working on it and will not stop because I'm not a quiter.

We'll just keep on keeping on.

I weigh-in at my WW meeting. Gotta be goal (+2?) or below at least once a month. Also, check in here. And, most importantly, keep TOL happy, with my weight.

I don't think anyone really cares about my weight except for me (unless I get much heavier and that diminishes my health). Of course I care about you all (kumbaya), but there are really no consequences from GOAD/WW/MFP. I don't mean to sound callous, but rather, I'm trying to really understand to whom I feel accountable. For better or for worse, Mrs. 0mania seems to accept me at whatever weight I happen to be (again, assuming no major changes, but instead 10-20 pounds here or there).

Did anyone ever read the Stephen King short-story "Quitters, Inc.?" Now *that's* accountability!

Anyway, I guess if I'm only accountable to myself, I really need to think about the consequences of when I don't live up to my expectations.

I come at this from a different perspective.

When I joined WW in 2008, the toughest thing about it was that it represented an admission that I couldn’t lose or manage my weight by myself. I needed not only a different approach, but also a community. Some of that came from weekly in-person WW meetings, and some of it ultimately came from the WW message boards like GOAD.

So I draw support from GoaD, and part of that contract for that support to me is showing up and participating. I think that’s me being accountable for my behavior.

No one is kicking my *kitten* if I gain a pound, but putting those facts and those decisions out there is part of my accountability - my membership dues, as it were.

I also spend time on Connect, which has matured a bit since 2014. There’s a Saturday morning thread for Lifetime members, and like my weekly meeting, I’ve become invested in the success of others in that group. Similarly, that participation is part of my accountability.
