✈️DESTINATION - Sydney, Australia 6,000 Miles - 10 Minutes of Happiness & Healthy Snack

The challenge begins on Saturday morning. Exercise & 10 Minutes of Happiness & Healthy Snack done before SATURDAY DOES NOT COUNT!!!!

The Sydney Olympics were known as: The ‘Green Olympics’, a vision for sustainable living. They designed a solar powered sustainable Olympic Village which became a suburb. The government enacted strict environmental guidelines which included water recycling/management to save 800 million litres of water annually. The new environmental policies have guided all new future developments. It also improved public transport including the airport rail link, and bike paths.

The Olympic site created usable space and parklands on what was 395 acres of a derelict industrial site. Now there are the beautiful Olympic venues, and the largest urban parkland in Australia. The conservation and enhancement of these wetlands, forest, native flora and fauna is its living legacy.

Volunteers were the backbone of the Olympic Games and a cheerful face of the Olympics. They kept things in order across all of the venues and throughout the city. Visitors were made to feel welcomed and appreciated.

Sydney Olympic Park features the stadiums, arenas and venues built for the Olympics. More than 5,000 events are held here annually - world-class athletics (rugby, football, swim meets, boxing, etc.) festivals, musicals, concerts, general entertainment and cultural events. There are many free open air gatherings like Music by Moonlight and Sydney Movies Festival. The Olympic Village is now a 'green' suburb with commercial and residential buildings and extensive parklands.

Note: Australian Rugby is a sport in which players get a hold of the ball and run towards the opposing goal with an intention to score. However, Aussie Football is primarily a kicking sport AKA soccer.

The timing of our visit is fantastic! This weekend in Olympic Park we can see 1) Jurassic World: The Exhibition - an immersive experience bringing you face-to-face with life-size dinosaurs. The closest you’ll ever come to ‘living’ dinosaurs! 2) P!NK LIVE in 2024 Summer Carnival. The three-time Grammy Award-winning singer, performer, and international pop icon will be here now. 3) Everything Electric Australia – The Home Energy & Electric Vehicle Show, a fun-filled, knowledge packed festival of electrification.

Next month is the most spectacular event, The Sydney Royal Easter Show. It is a celebration of Australian culture, from rural traditions to modern day lifestyles. 12 days of entertainment and displays - livestock shows, horse, cat and dog shows, produce, horticulture, carnival rides, games, consumer trade shows, a variety of cuisines and more. Fun!

📝Living the Good Life - 10 Minutes of Happiness & Healthy Snack

Sometimes we need to remind ourselves to smile and be happy. We may think that when we reach our goal weight we will be happy. But research shows that being happy helps us lose weight - we will eat less and move more. A happy person enjoys a healthier lifestyle and makes better food choices, by treating life as a source of pleasure. This week try to limit the news, and consciously spend at least 10 minutes a day to make yourself happy. With happiness you can achieve more of your goals. Enjoy the wonders of positive emotions both before and after succeeding in your efforts!

Put aside your worries and live in the moment for 10 minutes a day. When you smile, you can actually feel better right away. Be creative to find your happiness. Do something that makes you smile or laugh. Switch to lively music and dance around the kitchen, play an instrument, sing a song, play with the puppy, discover laughter yoga, watch a comedy, google jokes, chat with an uplifting friend. Add exercise that is fun. Aerobic exercises have been proven to reduce anxiety and depression - jog, swim, cycle, walk, garden, dance, etc. Find your own connection between happiness and good health.
