You will smile when you step off the plane, and you are greeted with an aloha and a lei, a garland of flowers, that symbolizes friendship and greeting. Beautiful Honolulu, on the island of Oahu is the capital of Hawaii and a favored place to start exploring. The name of the city means “calm port”. Enjoy the stunning beaches, perfect waves, lush tropical forests, food, history, vibrant culture and the warm and cloud-free climate. Many favor visiting in April and May when it's not too hot and not too busy. Bring along your sunglasses, swimwear, towel, sunscreen and flip flops and you are ready for the day.

Catch the waves with surfing lessons at famous Waikiki Beach, a fun way to start the day. In the afternoon snorkel with the Green Hawaiian sea turtles in the turquoise waters of Napili Bay, then stay for a sunset catamaran dinner cruise. Or watch the Hawaiian dancers perform at a luau and learn to hula dance.

Enjoy a drive around the island. There are many roadside fruit stands, so you can enjoy all the local fruits - pineapple, papaya, starfruit, dragonfruit, rambutan, mango, coconut, lilikoi, and longans. You will see many beautiful beaches, blow holes, palm trees and people enjoying the easy pace of island life.

From hiking Diamond Head Mountain/Crater, touring the Polynesian Cultural Center, to viewing waterfalls, riding ziplines, swimming with dolphins, to deep sea fishing or parasailing there is something for everyone. And at any time you can relax on the beach with your book and enjoy the warm sand.

Tracking was chosen by 5% Challengers as one of their favorite challenges. It gets everyone back on board with what we all should be doing to successfully lose weight. Let the magic of weight loss happen when we track.

Sometimes we think we are not eating much till we start tracking, measuring, & weighing everything that goes into our mouths. The results can be shocking! This week hold yourself accountable for what you are eating!

When you are away from your phone/computer have a piece of paper to write down what you are eating or use your phone to take a picture and record it later; then you won`t under report your calories. Would it help to pre-track your meals for the day and adjust as needed?

If you are dining out, check the online menu to make a better choice. Often it will show one item ie. steak, so you have to also find the baked potato or side dish too. Here is a site where you can search a restaurant.

Track all your meals and snacks each day. You can track your meals by whatever method you choose - Weight Watchers Points Plus, My Fitness Pal, pen and paper - calculate, etc.

It helps to record WHY you are eating, as a tool to help you be more mindful of what you are doing with food. What about the midnight snack? Why?

See how many calories you need to maintain your current weight. Your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is how many calories you would eat each day to MAINTAIN your current weight. It is an estimate of how many calories you'd burn if you stayed in bed for 24 hours (idling); the absolute minimum number of energy/calories needed to keep your body alive/functioning, including breathing and keeping your heart beating. Your BMR does not include the calories you burn from normal daily activities or exercise.

Just for fun, totally optional - track your progress in another way. Record your starting measurements and take a Before Photo that you can compare to an After Photo in 10 weeks. Keep your day one outfit to wear again for the 10 week photo. You may even want to take progress pictures along the way. If you like you can post the picture in your team chat.
