April 22nd was my 1 year anniversary of eating Keto. At this point I have made some remarkable progress. My HbA1C got to normal in a matter of months. My blood pressure dropped so much that I have come off all but one of my meds, and likely I could come off that one as well. My weight is down almost 90 pounds with my goal weight within 10 pounds. My pant size went from a 42 being tight to a 34 fitting pretty much perfectly. Shirt size from 2XL being tight to being somewhere between a loose fitting medium and a large. My joint pain has improved to the point where I only have it when I have done something excessive. The surprising improvements were things like tooth sensitivity which is basically gone. I didn't expect the mental benefits, but I find I am far more even than I was before, with far more mental clarity. Overall, because of all these benefits and more I can't see going back to eating in a non-ketogenic manner.

I am looking forward to year number 2, getting to my goal weight, and building some more muscle and athleticism. This has been an excellent journey so far, made even better by being able to control my eating when away from home and not logging simply by minimizing carbs and maximizing fat and protein.

Awesome stats!! Can't believe a "diet" that's so unhealthy can make you so healthy (tongue in cheek). Congrats!!

Yup. If I were to listen to my doctor on this I would likely still be fighting with my blood sugar and most of these other things, not to mention it is unlikely I would not have lost as much weight as I find Keto keeps me more satisfied than any other way of eating.

@rileysowner I am lucky that I have an unconventional doctor. She wholeheartedly believes in Keto. She also has the best vitamin recommendations for high cholesterol and kidney function before she resorts to big pharma. I love that about her!

My doctor kept saying that I needed carbs. I disagreed, and still do. I NEED Fat and Protein. Without them I will die. If I never ate a Carb again in my life, I would live on just fine.
