Welcome to your refuge from forum bully's!

Yes, that is right! I said bully's. Why? Because it never ceases to amaze me that the same handful of people on the main forums pick fights, and pick on people who post an opinion that doesn't match their own. In particular--people who advocate eating crap food--and how ultimately eating said crap food won't have an adverse effect on your health.
If you are here, it probably means that you agree that yucky food can only make a body look and feel yucky. If you are here, you are probably at some point in the journey of changing what you eat to try to be healthier. You are in the right place!
Please feel free to post anything that sounds interesting, questions, concerns, recipes, workout ideas----whatever. And know that you will not be attacked, belittled or pimped for "studies to support that". Sure we like factual stuff. But we are also open to discussion--and many times if you have something that you are wondering "is it true--or just a fad" there will more than likely be someone who has a good answer, or someone else willing to take the time to help you research it!
So enjoy this forum!

I've got to stop reading threads on the main forum! I think it makes my blood pressure go up!
This is a welcome refuge.0 -
So true. And a calorie is NOT a calorie! 2 cups of fresh kale, a diced tomato, sliced cucumber and avocado half has as many calories as a caramel frappuccino, but the nutrients aren't even in the same ballpark.0

Right, I got a little convinced at one point that those people were correct, so I started eating pizza several times a week. I didn't gain weight, they were right about that. "Calories in calories out." But I ended up with a painfully large gallstone from it, that's still making my life miserable.
Turns out (upon researching online) that high carb low fat diets increase chances of gallstones, especially for people who are losing lots of weight quickly.
What you eat really counts. And just for a bit of happy news, the potential cure for gallstones, believe it or not, is to go into ketosis, meaning low carb, high fat, the opposite of what one would think. Ketosis apparently creates more uric acid, which may soften and possibly dissolve gallstones. The online "experts" on gallstones say to drink tons of apple juice for the uric acid. Unfortunately, all that did for me was make me hyperglycemic.0 -
Yes, a calorie is a calorie if you are looking at nitty gritty science of it all. But people forget the purpose of food is to give our bodies nutrients.
I want to be like the almost 72 year old bikram yoga instructor I had for class the other day. Not the almost 50 year old with a history of 2 heart attacks and on multiple medications.0
