Scale not Budging

I'm one month into my myfitnesspal relationship and 6 weeks into my renewed fitness journey. My starting weight is within a healthy range, although at the top end. I'd like to be at the bottom end, which would mean loosing 10+ lbs.

In the last 6 weeks I went from eating whatever I desired (mostly carbs) and no exercise to doing yoga 2-3x's a week, Riding my bike for 10-15 miles 2-3x's a week, lifting weights 2-3x's a week, and following a macro diet plan.

I am at the same weight I started at 6 weeks ago. I'm telling myself that it's because I'm gaining muscle, but I'm beginning to have my doubts that is the only reason.

Has anyone else had this experience and can share their thoughts?

I’m no expert but from what I’ve read and discovered, the new routine can cause water retention.

Also - it takes a long while to build muscle which is hard to do in a calorie deficit.

If your goal is to lose weight, are you positive you are in a calorie deficit? Are you tracking and weighing your food? The last 10 pounds I lost required super super strict tracking - all bites, licks, tastes!!

Could you also be eating more - but not aware of it - when I started my exercise routine I became ravenous!

Hope this helps a bit! Patience will be your best friend - but make sure you’re in a calorie deficit!!

I'm not sure. It's hard to put in the work and not see results. Do you clothes feel loser though?

@pnrbor My clothes feel looser in places - my tops and waist. I wasn’t lifting heavy in my upper body simply because I had little strengrh there! 😀

My lower body filled my pants out more. Not a look I was going for so kept lifting but less weight more reps, and a 30 minute treadmill walk daily.

However - nothing was gonna work until I was in a calorie deficit. This comes first. It was a cold water in the face lesson for me - I was certain I wasn’t going to be one of “those folks” who weigh food on a scale. Famous. Last. Words. I started weighing, started losing.
