Hello, new here. Older, widower. Always been interested in powerlifting. Third attempt and hopefully, if I can stay healthy, I will be entering my 1st event. Looking for advice and some lifting partners to bounce ideas off of.
59 and will be 60 by the time of event. 5'7" and currently 256 lbs.
I been working on losing weight but not muscle and strength. Any thoughts on potential weight class, training and serious time before event to prep? Looking at a December 17th event.
Any thoughts would be graciously appreciated.

    Correction: should said "losing weight but not losing muscle and strength "
