Hi. I am over 50 and I am having a lot of trouble getting under 200 pounds. I am getting close but as my weight decreases it seems to drift upwards. Does anyone else have a similar issue. If so how does one deal with that?

Honestly, I doubt that it's an inherently "over 50" problem (speaking as someone who's waaay over 50, 68 now, 59-60 when I lost weight). I also doubt that there's anything special about the 200 pound boundary, except psychologically since it quite reasonably seems like a big threshold to cross.

There aren't a lot of details in your post to go on.

When you say "as my weight decreases it seems to drift upwards", what kind of timespan are you talking about? It's normal for bodyweight to be up and down for a week or even a small number of weeks (maybe 4-6 even), before definitively dropping, especially as a person gets closer to goal weight.

Are you counting calories carefully the whole time, no cheat days, logging every bite, lick, taste, beverage, condiment, cooking oil, etc.? Using a food scale as much as possible? Avoiding using other people's recipe type entries in the MFP database (like "cheese omelet", "meat lasagna", etc.), instead logging the details of your own recipe or food product? (Logging meticulously becomes more important to steady progress as we get lighter.)

If you've been that kind of meticulous, what's your calorie goal, for what current body size? How much weight have you lost on average over the past (say) 4 weeks?

Are you feeling fatigued, weak, or cold more often now?

Have you reduced your calorie goal as you got lighter in weight, since a lighter body requires fewer calories to do the same set of activities?

Has your doctor run thyroid tests, or test for nutritional issues/deficiencies?

Apologies: Without knowing more, I'd be guessing in the dark.

Weight is rarely a static number. Mine floats up and down within a range of around 5 lbs. I think that's normal.
