I've participated in volunteer medical research studies over the years. I recently signed up to participate in a drug company's (GSK) clinical trials of an mRNA vaccine in development against bird flu, which could emerge as a new viral threat (just when you thought it was safe to permanently take your mask off). The study lasts a long time, over a number of months.
