All right, troops! Time to go ALL-IN!
Whether you're a beginner, in your stride, or a long-time maintainer, we all have things to work on. And if you're anything like me and this last month has been BONKERS, it's time to get more active on your challenges. Summer is winding down, and it's time for a Bootcamp. To focus hardcore on your plan's basics and to keep your body mobile, two essential focal points for the successful low-carber, or healthy human in general.
With just LIFE itself basically being unnecessarily hard sometimes and making a nuisance of itself, things are harder to do. And life can just be unpredictable and just plain stressful. Despite....NO...INSPITE OF, all this nonsense we have to deal with, we can do this! Dig deep this month and laser focus on your plan basics and figuring ways to be active. Put your whole self into this month and dig deep.
Everybody is alsways looking for a magic pill or plan. Well there is one key formula that I have learned in my journey which is this:
Consistency + Persistence + Time = Success
And right now PERSISTENCE is the key word for a lot of us. It is for me for sure.
You can report your progress to your goal, whether it be ultra-obsessive daily hitting your low-carb plan basics, or working on a fitness goal, or even nailing down other good habits in your life. And if you have problems or need advice or support, you'll find that here.
A daily post could look something like this.
Wed 8/1:
Logged:
Water:
Electrolytes:
Calorie Goal:
Carb Goal:
Exercise: HIIT
Prelogged next day:
7/7
OR, maybe if being really active is your focus:
8/1:
Activity: Got up and moved around every hour during the day. Dripping-sweat yard-stomp and angry garden weeding. 13k steps.
Or you can do something less rigid and give us a verbal description of how you are faring in your pursuits. But this is your show. So focus on your basics. Whatever they are. Make this month count! Tear it up! You've got this!

HEYYYYYYY! It's the first. I'll jump in.
I am going to be focusing on daily logging and weighing, keeping my carb and calorie goals, not letting fatigue and everyone else's interference keep me from working out at least 5 days a week, and reigning in those weekends. This med I am on makes me want to always be either sleeping or eating and depressed. No. Just no. I refuse. It is time to take this back. I can do this.2 -
Hey, All-In Gang! I'm ready to go All-In on this first day of August. I started the Carnivore diet on July 8th to see what all the hype was about. I was skeptical that eating nothing but animal products was a good idea! However, after hearing so many testimonies promoting Carnivore, I decided to try it for 30 days. Although I'm not entirely done with my first 30 days, I can tell you that I'm leaning toward going for at least 90 days.
This August Challenge came just at the right time for me to declare myself All-In for Carnivore. I will share more as the month progresses.

All in for August will help me remain on an even keel as I have too much scheduled (have cut my self off from saying yes to anything else LOL)
We are camping next week and menu is mostly low carb. There will be lots ok kayaking and walking as we are going with friends this trip. When we get home is my worry, we have 4 parties on the calendar and I have a business trip. I need to kick my activity up when we get back and need to make sure I bring keto options with me to these parties.
I tried on all my work clothes last night and was pleasantly surprised what fit and what was close. That gave me the enthusiasm I need to buckle down and achieve my goals.1 -
Hey, All-In Gang! As of today, I'm on day 25 of my 30-day Carnivore diet experiment. I decided to try this diet to see if it helps with my arthritis. At 74 years old, my joints have been getting achier with each passing year, so I wanted to take a radical approach and eat only animal products for 30 days.
During these 25 days, I've eliminated sugar, coffee, and carbohydrates from my diet. My meals mainly consist of beef, bacon, and eggs seasoned with salt and pepper. I won't overwhelm you with all the details right now, but I'll share my experiences from this Carnivore journey with you. I'm All-In on this thread and the Carnivore diet!

Stormy here again. I am a Fathead! This comes as no surprise, as our brains are made up of essentially 60% fat. One of the first things I noticed after starting my Carnivore experiment was the remarkable improvement in my mental clarity and memory. My brain fog lifted, and my memory sharpened. It's truly inspiring to see how my brain responds to the fatty meats I consume. What could possibly go wrong with eating rib-eye steaks and bacon several days of the week?0

Today marks day 30 of my Carnivore experiment. I initially started this trial as a 30-day test to address my arthritis. However, in the spirit of our All-In theme, I've decided to extend my carnivore experiment to 90 days. Therefore, I am committing to the Carnivore diet for the remainder of our All-In August challenge and beyond.
I look forward to sharing the ups and downs of my Carnivore Experiment with all of you.
30 Day results:
Weight 185.4 to 167.7 (-17.7 pounds)
Body Fat 32.6 to 29.8 (-2.8%)
Visceral Fat 19 to 18 (-1%)
Blood Pressure 138/88 to 117/83

well, my weekend wasn't all I'd hoped it would be, but it was improved. Better is better.
On track for my carb, calories, and exercise goals for today so far
It's still pretty toasty outside right now, so after dinner I'll go outside and hoof it.1 -

Wow, that's dedication. Nice drop on the BP and the scale. Glad to hear you've seen other positive changes too.1 -

Thanks, Baconslave. During the first week of the Carnivore diet, I experienced rapid changes in both my weight and blood pressure. Rapid weight loss is common when starting a keto/low-carb diet like Carnivore, as most of the initial weight loss is due to shedding water weight while the body adjusts to the new diet (fat adapting). I am fully dedicated to this journey and looking forward to witnessing the changes.
Now begins the challenging process of steadily losing weight at a slower and healthier pace. However, what truly excites me are the non-scale victories I am achieving through the Carnivore diet. These victories are the genuine indicators of success, and I can't wait to share them with you on our All-In forum.

I was off camping last week, so I have just taken a look at the challenge for this month. I am not sure what to go for since I injured myself in my right rib cage, so I have had to take a step back from exercise beyond walking or biking. Things are healing faster than I expected, but I don't want to push things like I did the first day camping which put me into extreme pain for a day, and really cut into my activity for the start of the trip. I guess my rather small "all in" is to keep eating ketovore. On the positive side, my week camping resulted in a decent weight loss putting me at 167ish pounds which is within 2 pounds of my goal. All that without tracking food, and instead putting the focus on eating pretty much straight carnivore except for some keto bars from the No Sugar company, some low carb coolers, and rye, since I did want to have some treats.0

Sorry to hear about the injury but hopefully it will continue to heal quickly. Nice job on the weight loss over a trip!

So. Monday and Tuesday are in the books. Tracked, hit my goals, and workout out both days. A long yardhike Monday, and a full body strength workout with 30 mins of one of the peppier Leslie Sansone "walk" videos after.
Today, I'll be working out in a little bit, but will need to take care with portion control as my Eldest daughter has invited me over to her apartment for dinner this evening.1 -
My name is Stormy, and I’m addicted to carbs. For most of my life, I have been hooked on sugar, caffeine, and many other highly processed foods that are part of the Standard American Diet. I've tried to break this addiction multiple times but failed every time. However, in the last five weeks, I've managed to give up my habits of coffee and diet soda with little to no withdrawal symptoms, and I attribute this success to the carnivore diet.1

Great progress. I am more Ketovore, but eating this way has made it much easier to stick to my plan and achieve my goals.1 -

This is my 6th week of following the Carnivore diet. I've tried various diets over the years to improve my weight and body fat composition and address other health issues. While I've experienced short-term success with many of them, I always returned to my old way of eating. These past restrictive diet attempts resulted in regaining all the weight I lost and then some. However, with the Carnivore diet, I feel a sense of relief from this unsustainable cycle. It marks a hopeful shift from short-term diet changes to long-term lifestyle changes.

Got in tons of kayaking and walking Sunday-Wednesday. Yesterday was travel/rest so today I will be back at it. Full day of rain means an indoor walking video and some an work. Tomorrow I have another kayak trip early morning an dinner with friends late. Hoping the restaurant still has the bacon wrapped shrimp salad on the menu. Saying no to drinks, apps and dessert!1

My experience so far with a more Ketovore approach is similar. For me, as with many people, maintaining the weight loss has always been the big issue. I can't say at this point that it still isn't, however, when we went camping I just ate based on my hunger and satiety. The result was that instead of my normal weight gain, I actually lost weight during that time. I even indulged in some low carb alcoholic beverages. For me, that is a huge win. It makes me hopeful that I can actually maintain the weight loss I have attained, all because eating mainly meat actually stimulates my satiety hormones so I don't over eat. I have, overall, found Keto and Ketovore far easier to not only lose weight following, but to do so without having to always log my food to keep an eye on my calories. I am hoping that will be the long term result as well.1 -
Kayaking Sat got cancelled so I got out my bike and rode about 25 min. Good to be out but my endurance really took a hit this summer. I did strength and yoga yesterday and am definitely feeling it this morning. Weather looks good for another ride at lunch today.
I tried carnivore a few years back for a month. I may give it another try to see how different it impacts me now that I'm more low carb than keto.0 -

I am mainly carnivore, although I still on occasion will eat plants, just not often. I find it a much easier way to eat as I don't have to figure out how many carbs are in something. Meat doesn't have any.
I hear you about getting active again. I did my first strength workout last night in maybe 3 weeks as my injury seems to be better. I am not as sore as I expected. Really, there is not much DOMS at all, however, experience tells me it is often worse on the second day. I have my upper body workout to do today, so hopefully that goes well as pressing movements were a problem when I first injured myself. I guess I will see how my legs feel tomorrow. I can say my strength is down, so I have a fair amount of building up again to do.
Eating wise, my wife and I were taken out to a buffet by my Mother-in-law on Saturday. I was going to try to stay at least Keto, if not Carnivore. However, the options left much to be desired. I did focus on meat, but it all had sauces that definitely had sugar and starch in them, so I decided to eat pretty freely. Needless to say, the next day according to my breath ketone meter I was out of ketosis. The positive is I was back into Ketosis by Monday. I will be attending a wedding on Saturday, so I am expecting eating will not be Keto or even low-carb. I will see what the food options are when I get there, but knowing the people getting married, I am expecting that there will not be keto options.

I am here and doing well...of course because it is a weekday
Got in a long yardhike yesterday for over an hour. Today is strength for arms and probably a short walk after.1 -
Did it and yardhiked again yesterday. I need to get in a leg day today and some arms since there'll be no time for formal exercise Friday as I'll be loading and then setting up the camper. I'll probably get 10k steps without trying. Food on plan. Psyching myself up to make better choices this weekend.2

I started back at my lifting program this week on Monday since my injury seems to be pretty much healed. This morning I did my lower body workout for the second time, and I can see my back will need some strengthening. I did the workout in the morning, which might be part of the issue, and my low back got tired very quickly. Everything feels good at the moment, so I don't think I hurt anything. I will be leaving the weight amount I am lifting where it is for now to let my back strengthen a bit before I start increasing the amount I lift again.1
-
Nods
Strengthening is important. Will need to rebuild after a wrist sprain heals. Will be batchcooking chicken for the week - seems to be on sale more than other proteins atm. Picked up bell peppers on sale too. Made blackened ranch by adding cayenne, smoked paprika, spices to ranch. It's a keto-friendly keeper to have on hand.1 -
I completed my sixth week as a Carnivore and I'm pretty satisfied with my progress in terms of my weight, body fat, and other measurements. However, what makes me even happier are the non-scale victories I've achieved as I enter my seventh week. I'm surprised by my ability to avoid carbohydrates for the last seven weeks. I've managed to quit some of my old favorite things such as sugar, coffee, soda, and carbohydrates. What's even more amazing is that I have no cravings for those things and little to no withdrawal symptoms from dropping them cold turkey.
I've traded carbohydrates for better joints, hair, skin, and mood. Additionally, I don’t miss snoring, prolonged recovery time after activity, brain fog, or Dairy Queen. However, I may be addicted to ribeye steak.
Results after 6 weeks (42 Days):
- Weight: 185.4 to 164.6 (-20.8 pounds)
- Body Fat: 32.6 to 28.8 (-3.8%)
- Visceral Fat: 19 to 17 (-2%)
- Blood Pressure: 138/88 to 120/82

Back from vacay. And as the only active mod round here, I didn't delete it. Either it was site admins or the original poster requested they delete it. Or MFP just got hungry. That is super weird.

Made another. MFP DO NOT EAT IT! NOT EVEN WITH HOT SAUCE

This weekend I attended a wedding and ate freely. Needless to say there was about 3 pound of weight gain, likely all water, and I was kicked pretty much out of Ketosis according to my breath meter. The numbers were coming up this morning, so I am guessing in another day maybe two I will be back into ketosis. Exercise plans have changed. I am switching to a primarily bodyweight program for a month or so to allow my back to strengthen up. Lifting weights, it is just too easy to push too far. I figure with bodyweight stuff I can mix in good exercises to aid in strengthening the various supporting muscles. Hopefully, a month or so of that will get things to a point I can lift again.1
