Article: The Benefits of Daily Walking

Interesting article. But I reacted to one phrase in there, and I’m curious to see if I’m alone on this.
“Research shows that hypertension contributes to heart disease . . . . “
I could buy “correlates to” heart disease. But the phrasing of this seemed backwards to me. Isn’t heart disease such as arteriosclerosis what leads to high blood pressure? Isn’t high blood pressure a symptom of heart disease rather than a cause? Or are they saying “heart disease” and meaning th8 gs like atrial fibrillation?
Just seemed backwards to me, although I have not consulted Dr. Google on this one. 🤷🏻♂️0 -

Observational, on my part, when I walk 10K, or more, I have issues the next day.
So now I'm shooting for the 7K to 8K range. Curtailing some of my steep areas, and when, my mind and/or my body, are "complaining", I'll lower it more.
At my age, and fitness level, I really don't need to really "push" myself.1 -
My stated goal is 7K/day. So, anything beyond that is gravy.
However, having said that, I've figured out how to get in 1,000 steps/hour (without impacting work) by using the last quarter hour for walking and phone calls. I can also walk in my office during teleconferences, unless I need to be an active participant/presenter.
So, I've been getting 8K - 10K per day the last couple of weeks.0
