Kind of holding my own, although I did have a couple of days where I dipped into the high 128's so some progress. Hubby's diverticulitis probably helped keep me on track this week because he was on a liquid diet for several days and then a soft, bland diet for several days. That it made it easier for me to watch intake. I think I've told you that he likes to cook and that there is no such thing as too much butter in his book. I've also been able to use a little heavier weights in my classes, which helps, but I'm still two to four pounds under what I was before I was dealing with a sore boob.
Kelly, you have had some rough times recently. I am so sorry and hope that Ella's knee is something that will heal well and not make her lose time at the sports she loves. I was just saying to hubby this morning when reading about the Olympics in the paper that someday your stepdaughter might be one of those athletes. And shoulder pain! I did something to my shoulder about 4 years ago pulling myself out of the pool and it just hasn't been right since. I have to modify some exercises in class or it kicks up. But it sounds like the pain you're experiencing is much more than mine, and I do hope that you can get a good diagnosis and some treatment. And medical care everywhere is crazy, or it seems like that to me. It will have taken more than 4 months for me to go from finding this lump to the surgeon's appointment on September 4. And if they decide to remove it, I bet the time from finding to surgery will span 6 months. That's just too long.
Lois, good for you for trying the chef's meals. I bet a dish prepared at home is lower in fat and calories than the same dish prepared in a restaurant. There the primary consideration is taste, and so they tend to load up with butter and salt. I also find that when I eat a good mix of protein and vegetables (like I see on that salmon plate), I'm just not as hungry. And I feel for you with that humidity. Everyone knows that the DC area is a swamp in the summer, but at least our temps are a little cooler than yours. We've been in the high 90's. Sheesh, if you've been watching the Giants and Nats play the past two days, you've probably heard them talk about the temps and humidity here. I don't know how the guys play so hard in that muggy mess. So far, your team has won one game, and ours has won one, and both were fun to watch and made some of my time on the TM go faster.
Well, time to get something done. We slept in this morning and I feel like the day is just whizzing by. I was up until almost 1 a.m. I just have to get my days and nights turned back around. This won't work when the days get shorter.
Before I go, here are my 7-day averages.
Steps = 10,283
Kcals burned = 1,694 (Just can't seem to reach my 1,725 burn goal to save my life!)
Fitbit and MFP are still not syncing right, and I really miss being able to access the Fitbit dashboard from my computer. Some of the features that were available on the web version are not available on the app). I've been thinking about downloading the MFP app to my phone so I can log food when we're in NC later this month, but I suspect that it's harder to use on a phone, too.
Have a nice hump day, everyone. I know that some are posting on Thursdays because Wednesdays are busier for them, so I'll check back in tomorrow.

Man.. I have had a rough few days. This shoulder is insanely painful at night, so it keeps me from getting much sleep. Ice, heat, Advil, Tylenol, Aleve, hubby's prescription pain cream.. nothing works. I probably had about 4 hours yesterday, then on the way to work I had to drop off our pup at doggy daycare to play with his buddies and burn some energy, and when I opened the door to let him out, he accidently smashed my hand into the door, almost ripping off my thumbnail. It bent completely in half and was pointing at me. Amazingly it only hurt in the moment and I was able to push it back, run it under cold water for a few minutes and put bandaids on it and now it's mostly ok... hopefully.
Then, last night I was still wide awake at 1am because of my shoulder pain, and my eyes decided to swell completely shut. This is the 2nd time with the eye swelling in the last 2 weeks. Needless to say, I'm having a difficult time staying positive here. I made an online booking for a phone call appointment with my Dr on Friday to figure out what to do next. I'm already on enough pills, but maybe there's a stronger shot or something they can give me?
So, I called in sick for work, and managed to sleep until 9am today.. which I never do. I'm feeling much better and although my eyes are still swollen a bit, they're improving, so I went to the office to grab my laptop (wearing sunglasses lol) and here I am working now. At least I was able to save some of the day and I'm feeling much more rested.
I'll do my weigh in tomorrow morning, if my night & morning goes well lol
Sarah - you're sooo close to that burn goal! Awesome for getting those steps in too0 -
OUCH Kelly!!! Yowsers!! I'm feeling for ya! Gosh I hope they can do something about your eyes...and shoulder pain. Lack of sleep from the pain is absolutely the worst!!! I hope you're able to get Ella in earlier for her MRI as well.
So far the salmon is the biggest hit! I had beef/broccoli last night and determined I don't like the "sauce" used - so if I order that next round, sauce on the side. And the rice is flaky, not sticky like Asian rice (first world problems). Tasty, I've just become accustomed to not chasing the individual grains and easy clumping. I order beef/broccoli often, and like it when first made, but something about that sauce later. Things we can clarify on future orders. Hubby had the enchilada last night and meatloaf today and liked both of them. Sarah - I agree, I am hoping these meals are more calorie/nutritional friendly than the restaurant foods. It was $293 for 12 servings, so certainly not inexpensive, but again, if healthier not horribly priced.
The weather is triggering my migraines like crazy so I knocked myself out all afternoon/evening yesterday. I woke for a couple of hours, had a salad and took another tablet that knocked me back out. Today I had to be at the main office for meetings all morning. I got home about 2 and had to leave again for my PT appt. Just got back. He did confirm that I blew my ACL again. However, he believes we can strengthen the leg to avoid surgery. I did not start the exercises today as I want to curl up and go back to bed with my mask on. Dang my head hurts. Anyhow, it hurts when I touch my head and that's annoying because my head "tingles" with the migraine so I touch it often. UGH. Tomorrow morning I have blood work and in the evening I have a 3 hour tour to get my hair done...that may need to be rescheduled if I'm feeling like this tomorrow. There's no way. I did get on the PT schedule to start this Friday afternoon. I will be goin on Tuesdays and Fridays through the end of September.
Sarah - I am so proud of you for getting on and using your treadmill. I'm glad the baseball games keep you distracted.

Oh my gosh. I can only lose .2 per week I guess. That's the pattern no matter what I do it seems. Oh well, it's better than going up, which happens much faster of course, lol.
Good to see everyone posting, but I'm sorry about the health issues we're all having. I feel pretty good, although I'm noticing more pain in my hands than usual. I've had some pain and stiffness in my right thumb for a long time, but now it seems to be the whole hand and both hands. My knees get sore and stiff off and on also, but a couple of Osteo Biflex supplements really help. I also get migraines, but only occasionally . . nothing like when I was more "hormonal". There are good things about menopause, lol.
Kelly, I'm so sorry about all that's going on. I hope Ella will be okay. She's young, so I'm sure her body will heal fast. I wish the healthcare system here and in your province was better. There needs to be more done to improve it, for sure. I think shoulders are best treated with PT. Avoid surgery if possible. I don't think Sarah ever got a good diagnosis of her eye swelling, but it must be an allergy to something ?? I hope you get in (eventually) to get a better idea of what to do about that. But, I'm really proud of you getting on with posting here and doing more for yourself. I know you're busy with the kids schedules, but you can't ignore your health.
Lois, wow, the meals sound great! And look yummy! I'm so glad you did this. It's much healthier than always eating out. It's not good news about your knee, but it's great news you can avoid surgery with PT! Tuesdays and Fridays . . we're going to hold you to it You'll be a new woman by the end of September I know it's hot and humid, but can you get in the pool for some movement? Might feel good on the headache too?
I had a golf lesson yesterday, and today my instructor and another student of his (a woman) wants to go out for 9 holes for a "playing lesson", which should be interesting. So, I'm going to be out in 95 degree, sunny weather today. I'm drinking a lot of water, and taking Ibuprofen for my hands and body soreness from my workout. Yikes, I'm a glutton for punishment.
Sarah, great job as usual with your reduction / maintenance. It seems like your body likes where you are, and if you're happy and healthy, it's a good maintenance weight imo. Your stats are great, especially your steps. Looking back through my stats on calorie burn, I'm usually right around 1,700 if I get a workout. Up to 2,000 on a weight training day (I usually do a walk to warm up and cool down too). But, I don't get 10K steps unless I do a walking workout. I really admire that you've kept that 10K up. I think walking really works well for weight reduction. I'm glad you got a long sleep too! I have been watching the Giants / Nats games when I can. When I can't watch, I get the play by play on my phone. Yesterday on my play date with my Cali grandsons, we were talking about the game that was going on. They are big fans, lol. Collect baseball cards. The 8 yo spouts players and stats like I can't believe! It looks like it's SF 1 / WSH 1 right now, but the game is delayed (weather?).
I have to jump off and get some things done before I leave for golf. Have the rest of a good and healthy week.

Sheesh - I just finished entered all of my appointments through Sept 20. Have fun at your golf!
I did not sleep well last night - at all. I was awake most of the night. I kept waking up every couple of hours for an hour or more. I almost came downstairs to start work at 4am. I did reschedule my bloodwork from this morning to the 29th. I just didn't feel safe driving with almost no sleep.

Happy Friday, everyone. Sheesh, the remnants of Hurricane Debbie rolled through here yesterday, so the baseball game was delayed twice due to rain. Then our guys fell apart in the 10th inning. Yep, tied at the end of that soggy day with two rain delays, and then we lost in an extra inning! But it does help to know that at least your grandkids were happy. smiley: I noticed this morning that the Little League World Series is being televised on ESPN this weekend, so they might enjoy that. We accidentally caught one of those games in a hotel lobby a couple of years ago and found it so heartwarming. Once the pitcher picked up the runner's batting helmet and ran with him to first base to give it back! And then once, a kid was hit by a pitch, and a bunch of players ran over to see if he was alright. Gave me some hope for the future.
But back to Debbie, we spent the afternoon keeping an eye of the radar because there was rotation in the clouds. We never used to worry about tornados here, but climate change has changed that! And this morning we found a huge sinkhole in our front yard (after paying almost 2 grand to get it leveled and sown a few weeks ago). Hubby thinks the pipes that run from the gutter underground to a pop-up valve in the yard have come apart because the ground where the trench was dug still has no support. We knew we'd have settling but had not expected it to happen quite this soon or this bad. Hubby says we may have to reroute the gutters so the rain does not go underground until next spring when the major rework and sodding can be done. It's always something. Somebody remind me that it does not affect my breathing! LOL
Lois and Kelly, hope both of you are feeling better today. Sheesh, my allergy affected my whole face, but like with Kelly, the docs just did not seem able to pinpoint the cause. I've had other things happen health-wise in my life that no doc could diagnose but which eventually just went away. Kelly, I'm hoping your problem can either be diagnosed and easily treated or else it also just goes away. Sending you good healing thoughts. And Lois, I'm also happy to hear that you don't need surgery and already have your PT scheduled.
Well, today I absolutely have to finish that editing, and while hubby is off for a massage that I gifted him, I'm going to speed vacuum all three floors. Hope that burns a few extra kcals. Sheesh, I don't think I've ever broken 2,000 kcals in one day--not even when I walk a lot and go to class, which includes light weights. That's amazing. You are my muscle-building inspiration.0 -
Oh Sarah - I didn't even think about Hurricane Debbie going through your area. However, my cousins are participants in a Filipino group in the area and they participated in the game on Sunday. Their grandson was one of the racers and her husband got to announce, Let's Play Ball.... unsure if you hear or see that on your tv channels or not. But they're so cute and I love they're involved that way.
Sunday, Rhea came up for a visit and to give me a manicure with her new nail polishes... each hand and each foot got its own color. It was adorable and I'd do it every day again. Anyhow, while we were visiting and getting polished, my son looked up at the upstairs ceiling at the top of the stairs, he noticed a water issue.... we looked and up and had no idea of what had happened. The AC condensation pan was overflowing into the insulation and then the ceiling. UGH. So we turned off the unit and there was so much water stored in the insulation that it was dripping until 2am and beyond. I woke at 5am and finally the ceiling was no longer dripping. At one point around midnight, hubby got back up on the ladder and we began to second think the HVAC issue, and possibly a water line into the master bathroom. Thankfully, as mentioned above, when I awoke in the morning, the drips had stopped. Confirming we needed HVAC team and not the plumber. Sarah - beginning to feel like you - another $200 expense that wasn't planned.
Today was my first day for PT. Exercises went well, and thought they were relatively easy and maybe push up the weights next time. And then, a couple of hours later, my leg is quivering... so maybe they were good. hahaha ...
3 hour hair tour is tonight. Thankful the migraines are severely reduced and I can touch my head and hair. So looking forward to my bangs being shorter and the greys gone. Little things that make me happy.0
