Thanks. My weekend consisted of attending a wedding on Saturday, and discovering I will have to put off lifting weights for a while as my back is not strengthening the way I want it to. I figured I would switch to mainly bodyweight exercises using my suspension straps.
I am impressed with my 19 year old son who replaced the timing belt and water pump in his car in about the amount of time a shop would have taken. I expected that it would take longer based on my experience working on my own vehicles. I am proud that took what he learned helping me, and continued using it for his own vehicle. It is nice to have another handy person in the family.3 -
Attending a 3 day conference for work and my routine is out the window. Huge rain storm back home hubby says. Headed on another vacation in two weeks, can't wait! Really dread each time one is over lol0

I did my new bodyweight workout yesterday after work. It went well. Other than that, my evening was pretty uneventful. I likely should have done something productive, but I really had little desire to do so. Instead I relaxed. Today is beautiful and sunny, albeit, chilly this morning, so maybe I will get something productive done after work tonight. Goodness knows I have a lot to get done.1

A little seasonal depression snuck in Sunday after my business trip. I need to read the signs better and be more proactive to keep that at bay. Weather has still been humid and we can't quite take the window AC units out yet. Maybe this weekend.0

I had the fun last night of helping my son do the rear brakes on his car so it could pass its safety inspection. It was good to do that with him. Now that he is 19 far less opportunities to do things like this with him are going to happen, so even though I was tired from a day of work, it was good to spend time with him.0

My oldest moved out at 19, I get that feeling. After our kids got married I instituted family dinner night so I could see them on a regular basis.
My neighborhood is getting paved this week after 30 years 🥳 no more living on Pot Hole Lane.0 -
My son realized how expensive it is to move out right now. The mark for apartments in our area is either affordable but really run down to the point I wouldn't want him living there, or newly built and extremely expensive. We are fine with him staying with us until he finds something he can afford that doesn't make me wonder if it should be condemned. He is working, and he pays board and helps around the house.0

Mine rented a house with some friends, helped that I knew the owner. I still didn't like the condition of the house but they were all safe.
Paving appears complete but I will test it out this afternoon on some errands0 -
It is a dark and dreary day here today, and it looks like more of the same for Saturday. The positive, is I have a lot to do that in inside, so while it does hinder some of my plans, it doesn't stand in the way of all of them. The temperatures have really dropped as well. I don't mind that, but it means I have to start shopping for weather appropriate clothing since all the stuff I had no longer fits me.0

It's definitely quite cooler today here too, and we are also dreary this morning. Though we are basically in a drought, and so I welcome the rain as the grass and leaves were getting crunchy, and I live up against the forest. We've gone a good spell without wildfires here, and I'd like to keep that streak. Wishing your plans work out on this dreadful weather day. 🤞
Not been around due to insanity. Last weekend through Tuesday we finally got to go on one of our camping trips. Then it's been a series of chores, errands, appointments, culminating in my oldest son having all his wisdom teeth out yesterday. They were all impacted and juggling that has been a whole thing. More running today. The kittens the kids insisted on adopting need signed up for a reduced cost neuter program, which I have to do in person today, and have to run Son to the church. He is one of the folk who help run their a/v, and they have a music team rehearsal today. I don't want him driving on even the meager pain meds they gave, plus the liquid diet he is on isn't great for keeping his blood sugar from tanking. He is also very lean and has had trouble with hypoglycemia in the past. So taxi mom it is.
I did not eat as responsibly as I should on the camping trip, but it was alcohol free and so that was a major improvement. I have been on plan since Wednesday. I plan on drinks only tonight and to stay out of the kitchen otherwise (cuz I know myself. I'm such a punk.) And back on lower cals tomorrow.
My workouts have been utterly disrupted. But I have been getting some walks in. I hope to have no more insanity crop up to prevent me resuming my strength training this week. I also got some amino acids in hopes that it will help out with the absurd DOMS problem I have been dealing with (outsized DOMS for the amount and intensity of the exercises performed.) I'm also off that med now and hope my appetite and binging compulsions will start to go back down.
Oh my word, blah blah blah.
Well, it's been a bit. Off to scrambling some more, maybe get a walk in, and then hopefully get to chill this evening.0 -
I got the brakes done on our car this weekend. It brakes nicely now. Beyond that it was a really busy weekend, and I am quite tired after it.1

It looks like it will be beautiful weekend weather around here. Lots of sun, and no rain. The temperatures might be a little high, but that is not a bad thing for what I need to work on. Our car has some rust holes that need work. I figure that will fill my time for the weekend. I have to do the same on our truck, but I am pretty sure my wife will be taking that on Saturday, so I will only have the car available for me to work on. This is going somewhat outside of my experience, especially since I am hoping to weld metal in to fix the holes. I was hoping to start with the truck because it is 19 years old, and I really don't care if it looks perfect. The car is newer, although still pretty old, just not as old as the truck, and I would like it to look better. Either way, I have a busy weekend ahead.0

Well my Vegas vacation was great but I picked up a bug while there and was ill Wed. Bad way to lose weight but I'll take the loss none the less. Still working back up to a normal appetite and activity.
Weather is looking good here too this weekend. I may dismantle my veggie garden except for my tomatoes which are still producing.0 -
I picked up a used Pit Boss pellet smoker yesterday. I only had time to fire it up to make sure that it would at least start last night, but hopefully tonight after work I can use it some more. So much more space than my vertical smoker has, and having integrated temperature control so I don't have to constantly adjust things is a big plus for smoking nice big briskets. Now for them to come on sale again.0
-
I wish I liked smoked meats, so many of my friends have smokers. In any event, I hope yours works well and you enjoy it!
I won't have much to share for a few weeks, 10-12 hour days for a big work project. At least I won't get the urge to snack, I'll be too busy LOL.0 -
The smoker worked well, although boneless skinless chicken breasts (all I had available as I am working at emptying out our freezer and they were thawed) are not ideal for smoking. They did turn out ok, but really I needed something with more fat. I have several racks of ribs, so I think I will thaw them and smoke them on Saturday. I am just happy everything seemed to work.0

Well, I have discovered a new favorite way of cooking burgers at home. My favorite burgers are those cooked on a grill over the fire while camping. I discovered that using my pellet grill I can get the same sort of flavor in my backyard without having to build a fire. Time to get more ground beef. I will have to thaw some steaks and see how they cook.1

That pellet grill looks like it was definitely an excellent culinary investment
I'm back guys. What a ride this year has been...
Getting up and dusting myself off.0 -
I didn't pick up a bug after all, it was food poisoning. I got sick a second time because cooked some more chicken (the original culprit). I thought it was a bug because hubby didn't get sick the first time. Oh but we both did the second time, yikes.
Life is also returning to normal here!0 -
It was Canadian Thanksgiving this past Monday. We celebrated as a family on Sunday, and I used my smoker to make a smoked turkey. It was excellent. More work that just putting it in the oven, but I thought it was well worth it. There were very little left overs from it, and that this point all that is left is the wings and a small amount of dark meat. I also finished making homemade bacon this weekend. I started the pork belly curing a week ago Sunday. I finished smoking it Monday and sliced it up yesterday. It is delicious. Better than store bought, and I know exactly what is in it. I will be making more. The only down side was slicing it by hand. Thankfully, the knife was sharp, but even then, a whole pork belly is a lot of slicing.0

@rileysowner Now you need a professional meat slicer :> Your leftovers would make a nice bone broth.
Winterizing our camper this weekend and I'm making a list of all my other small projects that I need to get going on. Top of the list is reorganizing the furniture in my home office and guest room. So many little steps involved so I write everything down and cross it off when completed to feel like I accomplished something LOL.
