Beyond counting points or calories, do you follow a diet that retains a certain food composition? For example (but not limited to), the Mediterranean Diet? Or the AHA diet? Or?

Pretty much WW. Slight exception for my Warfarin.1

Mediterranean Dirt recommended by AHA. I eat red meat only on occasion, more plants, less saturated fats and added sugars.1

I don’t follow a recognized approach, unless you recognize “Charlie Like” as an approach. Most of my decisions are based around available food pleasure within the boundary of my WW points budget, so I’m eating foods I like.
Within that, there’s a spectrum of decisions that are based on overall health, but it’s a factor rather than a criteria. For example, jerky is relatively low in points for the food pleasure, but I don’t eat it (often) because it’s loaded with sodium. Eggs are zero points, but I’ll have between three and seven in a week because of the cholesterol. I use spinach in my salad instead of iceberg to get more potassium and iron. I don’t have issues with sodium or cholesterol, but it just seems better not to wander too far from the perceived straight and narrow of conventional medical thinking.1 -
I know carbohydrates are not my friend. Been that way my whole life. All 77 years. I have to manage them. Don't need to cut them out all the way because you can't. There are 2 main types Simple and Complex. I have to concentrate on limiting complex carbs simple not as much. The battle goes on because I do love baked potatoes, a good hamburger or hot dog now and again and of course someice cream. cream.0
