Today's Topic: Sweets and Sugary snacks. I have met people who don't like sweets. Most of us were introduced to ice cream or sweet things as toddlers.
What's your control of sweets in general.

I really have to limit sweets which just about covers anything in the dessert category and a lot of snacks. My DW loves her chocolate raisin and almond bars from Aldi's. I indulge in them occasionally with her. We also keep ice cream in the house. I just have to limit either the timing of them or limiting the amount of them when I indulge.

Because I am following a heart-healthy diet plan, I have to limit added sugars, even though I'm not diabetic. This is tough because I not only have a sweet tooth, but every tooth in my mouth crave sweets. Most days I stay within limit, but I like to have something sweet after dinner and a piece of fruit doesn't cut it. I split a chocolate chip cookie with my wife, which works okay. I feel a sense of accomplishment that I've been able to curtail sweets.

Big fan of “no sugar added” ice cream which I take to mean chemically enhanced in lieu of sugar.

Also keep some good strawberry preserves on hand to smear on a cracker before bed if needed.

I only aim to fight my sweet tooth to a draw. I gave up on the idea of beating it a long time ago.

Sweets for me is like alcohol for some people - sweets dissolve my inhibitions such that sweets beget more sweets. That’s why I’ve instituted my “three snack limit” in the evenings - so I don’t run completely amuck.

Last night my three snacks included my usual fudgicles, 20 grams of BBQ Pop Chips - and a pint of Halo Top Birthday Cake ice cream. (Not all of their ice creams are good, but Birthday Cake and the Mint Chip do rise to the top of their products.)

But somewhat like George, for me stopping before it’s a runaway is a victory.
