Today's Topic: Fall and Holiday Plans
What Fall and Holiday plans, if any, do you have?
My wife and I will be in New England for a week spanning the 2nd and 3rd calendar weeks in October. She's from Maine originally, with a lot of family in the area. We try to get back there periodically. Really looking forward to it.
Thanksgiving will be local and downscale.
Christmas & New Year, I will return to my home in Oregon. I like this time of year.

My wife and I recently returned from an Alaska cruise. We have been on several and always enjoy them. We like to go toward the end of the Alaska cruising season. All my family lives in the same city, so Holiday get-togethers don't require any travel.1

So we are leaving on the 28th for a cruise up the east coast (New England and Canadian Maritimes) we are not huge fans of huge cruise ships but this will be a family reunion for my family (8 of my 10 cousins will be there) so its OK when we get back we will spend 3 days at home and then be off in our RV for a 4 - 6 week trip along the great circle route. Expected stops will include Grand Canyon, Bryce Canypn, Custer State Park, Zion Nat park, Ghost ranch, painted desert, Winslow Arizona (think the Eagles Song), as well as whatever else tickles our fancy. Then Thanksgiving will be a weekend trip to my Son in Charlotte, and Xmas will be 3 days in Hingham Mass with another branch of the family, its a busy time!1

If you’re hitting Winslow, then by definition I think you’re gonna get your kicks on Route 66! We took a train trip that stopped there and got the obligatory shot with the flatbed Ford.
I always tell people if their vacation includes the Grand Canyon, make it the last thing you see in the trip. Otherwise, you’ll compare everything to that experience.0 -
We don’t currently have a lot of plans. For Thanksgiving, our favorite snooty restaurant is offering dinner that day for the first time, so we have reservations there. Other than that, “I’ll be home for Christmas” - and for Hanukkah as well, I expect.0
