The long football weekend kicks off with Buffalo at Miami on Thursday Night Football, and ends with Atlanta at Philly Monday night. There are plenty of college and NFL games in between. What do you expect from your favorite team(s) or player(s)? How did they do this weekend? What about those teams you love to hate? This thread is here for all your football talk.

The Miami game tonight is on Amazon Prime. Do you get that streaming service? We do, but didn't get the game last week that was on Peacock TV.

The problem with the Cowboys is they start out strong, have a strong season, then completely choke in the playoffs. Very frustrating.

So, in short, I expect the Cowboys to win.

I have not decided if my life-long hatred of the Washington Redskins will continue. Are they a different team as the Commanders.

As a longtime San Diego resident, the LA Chargers are dead to me. In fact, this is my biggest acknowledgement of their existence in years. :-(

And, college-wise, I am an Oregon Ducks fan. My Oregon home is about 20 miles, as the crow flies, from Autzen Stadium. Half our town are Ducks fan, and the other half are Oregon State Beavers fans. Makes for an interesting November, when they play.

Greg - the Redskins under George Allen were accused of spying on the Cowboys old practice field off LBJ in Richardson. There was a motel next door and they supposedly rented a room overlooking the field. The good old days before Valley Ranch and the Star.

So As a life long NY Jets fan (Go ahead and snicker at me!) I will be interested to see what Rogers has left when they play Tennesee this week. he looked mediocre when they played last week, exactly they way you would expect a 40 year old QB coming off a season ending injury was going to look. The question is can he improve and by how much.
PS I was not a fan of signing a 38 year old QB when they did it, but he is here now so I might as well root for him!

I'm a Pats fan, since the beginning of the AFL, so I expect another win this week. QB looks ok.

I follow the Patriots, and root for whoever is playing the Jets or Giants. What can I say? 🤷🏻‍♂️

We’ve entered The Tomato Can phase of parity here in New England, so I’m looking more for the discipline with which they play this season. That, and for the big contract players to stay healthy all season. (I’d also like to see Drake Maye play about four games at the end of the season, but not because of any injuries.)

Oh, and I’m starting to look at left tackles for next year’s draft . . .

I don’t have any real rooting interest in college football. When I attended Charlotte (it was called UNCC back then) we didn’t have a football team. They just started the football program about 10 years ago. The team has not been competitive yet.

Like you, I have little to no interest in college football. You can’t really follow the coach; they change every five years or so. Similarly, you can’t really root for the players, since the good ones drop out for the NFL after two years. The only interesting thing will be to see how much NIL money will be more attractive than a rookie minimum. I can see players staying for four years of NIL unless they believe they can go in the first round of the draft.

I'm missing the fantasy league I played in for the past several seasons. It was with work peeps, and the league dissolved after everyone went their own way after our company was swallowed by another. Some people are way too serious about fantasy sports, but for me it was a good way to get to know teams and players outside of "my" team.

This is an interesting part of the season. Oftentimes teams are not nearly as good or bad as they appear in week one, but we make a lot of judgments off of the early season's small sample size. All of which is a roundabout way of explaining that I'm a Browns fan and I'm not sure what to expect from them. We'll know more on Monday!

No TV coverage of the Charlotte 49ers here, but checking the box score it looks like the 3rd string QB led them to three TDs in the 4th Q and a win. Not a very good opponent today, but the 49ers are not very good either. A win is a win.

Close one, huh? The Kentucky coach gave away their chance for the big upset by punting from midfield with 3 minutes left in the game. Does Texas move to number 1 in the polls, or does Georgia stay at the top?

The Cowboys were terrible today. No defense. The Saints scored touchdowns the first 6 times they had the ball. Embarrassing.

As frustrating as it can be, I do kind of love these interesting twists. After week one, we wondered if Deshaun Watson's poor outing was more of a reflection on him or the Cowboys' defense. Now, after week two, we have more insight (spoiler alert: Watson might never excel in the NFL again). But, honestly, who effing knows for sure? You always have to give credit to the other team's schemes and execution.

As a friend of mine commented on the Cowboys' game...they were in playoff form.

Given our current low xpectstions in New England, I was pleased. They played with discipline, and were effective in their one dimension. 🤷🏻‍♂️
