Today's Topic: Plans

Following up on Greg's of last Wednesday, do you have health or weight goals you’ve like to accomplish by year end? Or is it just “trust the process” for you?

The process currently is not working for me. So, I have to reevaluate my current efforts. This is on me, not the process, however.

My goal is to lose some weight while maintaining a heart healthy diet.

    My goals are to:

    - End the year feeling good about/proud of the way I'm eating

    - Not gain weight between the middle of November and the end of the year

    - Start 2025 feeling good about my eating behaviors versus starting the year in "self- loathing" mode

    - begin a basic exercise program

My goal is to continue on the same path, which includes (1) a healthy diet, which includes staying within heart healthy targets. (2) Good sleep. If I sleep poorly I invariably eat poorly the next day. (3) Fine tune and broaden exercise to include more age-related functional fitness exercises. (Average 1/2 lb weight loss per week to end of year) (5) Trust the process to the extent that it continues to work.

I’m largely with Tim in terms of sticking to the same path. I’d like to see end the year with both my official Studio weight and my fourteen day daily average in the Green Zone - and ideally, they would be aligned within a pound. That would suggest I’m getting closer to the elusive idea of a stable weight.

Strength. I want to set a goal for the chest press machine at the gym for my 75th birthday in May. I started out for 150 lbs x 4 reps but actually think that may not be ambitious enough. I think I’ll resist the temptation to go for more weight and try for more reps. Working my full body but this is the only exercise where I keep track of the lbs. Everthing else is just stay in the 6-12 rep range.

I’m thinking of getting into the 10K steps thing.

At our age (I'm 75) it's better to go for more reps than more weight. I've been told that by a couple of different Physical Therapists and have read about it online from reputable sources. Too much chance of injury and also a possible big spike in blood pressure.

Hope you have a cardiologist. I've been working with mine all year with various tests (EKG, Echocardiogram, CT angiogram). So far I've dodged the surgery bullet.

As of this moment I have 2 cardiologists, 1 cardiac electro phisologist, and a thoracic surgeon! Not sure how many more medical degrees I can stand!
