Today's Topic: Eating While Watching Sports Events

Some Things To Think About: Do you eat mindlessly while watching a sports event on TV or in person (or listening on the radio) ? Do you feel guilty afterwards? Do you try to compensate for overeating later? Do you eat more if your favorite team/individual competitor is winning? If they're losing? Do you eat more if you're alone? In company? Do you plan ahead for eating during a game? Other?

Bonus:How Do You Pick to Win the World Series?

I've had my full mfill of shorts in my life. Right now at age 77 I've moved awayv from sports. When the NFL players took a knee during the National Anthem and three League didn't didn't do anything about it that pretty much did it for me and I moved on to other things. College ball I like but I don't have a favorute team any more so I do other things on Saturdays.

Now when it comes to a good movie on TV I indulge in the popcorn with a little butter on it.

The only major sport I follow closely is baseball. I used to load up at the ballpark on all kinds of junk food, but have avoided that in recent years. At home, I don't really go in for food during games on TV. And I seldom, especially in recent years, attend a group sports-watching gathering. I watch niche sports like professional cycling, also the Olympics.

Bonus: World Series pick? The LA Dodgers and Shotei Ohtani will complete dominate. (Hopefully, when a new president is elected, he won't lose his work permit and get deported back to Japan.)

If I am at a ballgame, its a Foot Long and a beer, If I am at home its probably no more than a club soda, If I am at a super bowl party all bets are off!

Back in the day I watched a lot of football drinking beer with the guys. No doubt the pace of beer drinking would increase in the final minutes of a close game. Snacking too.

Salty and crunchy. That's what I want while watching a sporting event. If I am actually at an event, a hot dog and maybe a beer is excellent.

I would not begin to predict who will win the World Series. However, my heart is with my San Diego Padres - who pulled off the first ever game ending triple play to win last night's game and clinch their place in the playoffs - against the DODGERS no less. I am still smiling.

Just to clarify, first game ending triple play to clinch a playoff spot. Did I mention it was against the Dodgers? ;-)

Hmm - I’ve been to two Red Sox games, one Celtics game, and one Bruins game in my life. I’ve also been to a Manchester Monarchs game (minor league hockey) and whoever the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (minor league baseball) were before they became the Fisher Cats. I follow the Patriots and most NFL events, but clearly I don’t have a history of watching sports in person or virtually.

I just don’t like crowds, and my ability or willingness to deal with the hassles of live events is inversely correlated with my age. (Yeah, I know, “get off my lawn!”)

I go to maybe 1 baseball game a year, and its been 15 years since I went to an NFL game, don't follow the NBA or NHL. My tv watching of the NFL is usually no more than a half, often less than that, (playoffs not included) so my over indulging around sports is somewhat limited.

Charlie, didn't you ever go to the indoor football? Had season tickets, until they folded.
I went to one Red Sox game, as an 11 or 12 years old. Saw Teddy play that game.
Used to get a couple in a year, until my F-I-L got too old to go.
Went to many Fisher Cat games, with my boys (men by then). Sat in the Sam Adams bar, and drank myself silly.

Haven't been to any in the last 5 or so years.
