More or less holding steady. I was hoping for a little downward movement because I knew that this coming week would be a wash, and I actually did a little better with my 7-day averages, but didn't watch the types of things I ate, like I should. I think when I'm a little anxious my sweet tooth acts up, and I ate some trail mix with M&M's in it that I bought to take with us to the Waterford Festival, and it didn't contain many M&M's, so I bought some extras to add. :s What was I thinking? And our friend Dennis gave us more homemade cookies and included some shortbread and scones. So I'll take more or less staying steady, although a little loss to cover a week when moving will be difficult would have been nice. Here are my 7-day averages:

Steps = 11,306
Kcals burned = 1,758

Yesterday, I went to the hospital for my pre-surgery blood tests and EKG. The saw a little something on the EKG, but got a past one from my PCP and gave both to the anesthesiologist who said everything should be fine. And everything checked in the blood test was good. So it's a go for tomorrow. I have to be there at 6:30, so I'll be getting up around 4 or 4:30. Because my blood pressure bottoms out if I'm dehydrated and my veins are hard to hit, they want me to drink a large glass of water around 5 a.m. And to be sure we don't hit traffic and also to make sure we can find parking, I expect that we'll head out of here around 5:45. That's really tough for someone who is used to going to bed after midnight and sleeping until 7or 7:30.

But as I've said before, I will be so glad to have this over. (And the nurse practitioner who did my physical yesterday said that Dr. Sen Gupta is absolutely brilliant and that I'm lucky to have her as my surgeon.) But I do hope the soreness does not linger too awfully long. We're finally getting some nice walking weather. I just got back from walking the little dog we are dog-sitting this week, and it was pure heaven. Today it's in the 70s with a gentle breeze. I've been trying to do a lot of the dog duties the past few days since hubby will have to take over completely starting tomorrow. Scrappy's family is due back from Holland on Sunday evening.

Looking forward to hearing what and how the rest of you are doing. Now I'm off to the library. I expect that reading will be my main entertainment for a day or two. And I also have to drop some birthday cards by the P.O. Kelly, am I correct in remembering that your birthday is the same as my sister's (October 15)? I know it's someones besides hers. I miss my memory. :p

Wishing you a smooth sailing surgery! Happy thoughts and know that we're all thinking of you!!
And yep, it's the same day as your Sis. ;)
I'm off to the cabin tomorrow night after work. Hubby is out there already this morning and comes back Friday afternoon, while I'm staying until Sunday or Monday with the pup.

Praying for a quick and successful procedure and speedy recovery Sarah!!!! You've got this! We're here for you!

Happy early birthday Kelly - Tuesdays are my check in days - I don't always see them until later in the morning. So happy early celebrations. Hoping you all had good news from your daughter's doc visit. Thinking of you guys.

My week is going.... chef was here Monday, my meetings for today ALL got cancelled. A little frustrating as I could have had the AC started up yesterday or this morning instead of tomorrow. Its HOT up there when I go up at 7ish to shower. I really want to open the front doors for the morning cool air - but we're still waiting for that to arrive as well. Still almost 80 at 7am. Hoping the AC goes well tomorrow and then I can get my room cleaned and move the extra stuff back out and sleep up there. I'm just a wee bit tired of sleeping in my office. The wallbed is comfy...I just don't like putting it up every morning, nor seeing it all day as I'm working. First world problems. Im still struggling with my numbers. I have my foot doc next Wed and then my follow up with the new primary on Thursday.... so hopefully I'll have something figured out by then. With our new insurance, also discovered that my dentist is not in-network. He is for the cheaper plan we were offered, but not for the upgrade. But then my orthopedics wouldn't be covered. Again, first world problems. I'm doing research for a new dentist - this time close to home so hubby can drive me - just in case my vertigo gets triggered. But I really like my dentist.

    Grateful for a reduction.

Whew. . . I made it on while it's still Wednesday. My Wednesdays are crazy. But, I wanted to be sure to tell you, Sarah, good luck, and that I'm thinking of you ahead of your surgery tomorrow morning. I'm sending positive thoughts your way, and I feel confident that you'll come through with flying colors. You have taken great care of yourself, and I'm sure you'll recover quickly. Great job with your weight maintenance (.2 is nothing) and your great averages with movement. Take care <3

    Happy Early Birthday Kelly!

I'll check back tomorrow. Goodnight ladies. And also pray for the people in Florida as they navigate yet another awful hurricane.

Hello, all. Well the surgery went fine and I was home by 11:30 a.m. So I was at the hospital 5 hours, including some time beforehand when I was waiting, then prep, the operation, and recovery. I actually woke up feeling pretty good. The meds are wearing off now, so I'm little uncomfortable, but not enough to take one of the high-powered pain pills they prescribed for pain that hits an 8 out of 10. So I'll probably just take some OTC tylenol. I can't exercise or lift weights for two weeks, but they encourage you to walk, even the day of surgery, to lessen the risk of lung congestion and help with circulation. I should get results sometime next week. They say 7-10 days, but I think that's the outside edge. Everyone at the hospital, including my surgeon, was super nice. I'm wondering how much tissue she took and how much it changed the shape or size of the breast, but I'm sure that won't be evident until all the swelling is gone. And at my age, it won't matter unless it's a lot.

Well, I still have some texts and phone messages to return. Sheesh, a pound in a week is great. :) But I still think the reason you weigh more than me is just because of your muscles. You look great in the photos you share.

Lois, hope the A/C is fixed and your upstairs is cool. Kelly, enjoy your time at the cabin. You deserve to rest, read, walk the pup, and relax.

Sarah - super great news! Glad you're home and pain is tolerable. Keep calm for just a little longer...you'll be working out before you know it.

Sheesh!! WOW!! Great job and focus!!! I think I found yours....lol

Upstairs AC is replaced. Arrived before 9 and was done close to 1. Upstairs is now 78! WOOT WOOT (was 87 when they left). I work half day tomorrow so I'll work on getting my room cleared to move back up there. I miss my bed.... Hubby and I discovered that Disney is offering Magic Key holders first rides on the new Tiana's Bayou Adventure ride (it replaced Splash Mountain). Now I'm waiting to see what date we are going to get to go. Tee hee. Priorities. :)

Kelly - enjoy your cabin time.

Sarah, I'm so glad for you that the surgery is over, and you'll soon have complete answers coming. <3 I knew you'd do great through the surgery. I agree with Lois that you should not worry too much about getting back immediately. Just walk around the house and yard for a time. Let your body use all its energy to heal. You'll be back soon enough.

Lois, yay for air conditioning replacement! I glanced at your weather yesterday . . my gosh it's still so hot there. It's a bit on the warm side for October here, too, as it got to 82 at my house. It feels nice, but I do worry how the climate is warming. It was reported that the Gulf of Mexico waters are record high temperatures, and that is what helps form these giant storms. Florida has already had to deal with two.

Kelly, I hope your time at the cabin is perfect. Check in when you can.

Got up today with a little more soreness than yesterday, but my friend who has been through this told me to expect that. Apparently the soreness will increase over the first few days and then start getting less. I walked for a half hour at a snail's pace on the TM last night and did fine. It felt so odd to be walking that slow, but I know better than to push it. And I actually slept well last night. This is not as bad as that botched diagnostic mammogram. With that, I couldn't turn over in bed. Had no trouble last night, but I'm sure this surgical bra helped. It holds you very tight! Keep your fingers crossed for a good report from the lab.

It's chilly here today again (mid 60's), but higher temps are due back in a few days. I'm enjoying this preview of fall. I got a text from my co-leader at Bone Builders yesterday and she told me that they had a moment of silence for me before the start of class, which coincided with the end of my surgery time. That is just the sweetest group ever. And I got a great compliment from a nurse yesterday. I told them before the operation started that I was practicing for the face lift I should have had 20 years ago and now will probably never have, and the OR nurse said that she had asked another nurse for my age ealier, and that nurse said, "look at her chart, but I think she's about (and she guessed 12 years younger than I am)." I told them I wanted to go hug that nurse! Apparently I also told them several times that "I'm still awake. You guys know that, right?" I have that fear of not going under sufficiently. But I was told that both my surgeon and anthesiologist are tops in their field and the intake nurse had said, "You know, you have the dream team."

So now the wait for results begin, but I am grateful to be this far along and grateful to feel this good. Lois, I'm glad the A/C is working so you can get back to your own bed. And I hope the foot and leg problems are better for both you and your hubby. Kelly, I forgot to say that I also bet advil is a good guess for the eye problem. Once you said that I remembered that a coworker gave her husband advil for a headache once when they were out shopping and his whole face blew up. I think they actually called 9-1-1. Sheesh, thank you for the continued good thoughts. You've been so busy lately. Hope you now have time to rest and enjoy early autumn, which is glorious out your way.

Sarah - hoping your recovery is still going smoothly and the pain is reducing. I've told you from your pictures that you don't need a facelift. You know that would require needles - YUCK!!! Anyhow it sounds like you're in good spirits and headed in the right direction. Find a good book and escape until you're able to move around safely and await your results.

Hubby and I attacked our room yesterday. It's a bedroom and a half. With exercise equipment taking up the retreat area. Arizona is just SOOOOOO dusty. Since I haven't been sleeping up there pretty much all summer and not wanting to push the ac, haven't been maintaining upstairs dusting etc. My friend handles downstairs every other week and I've handled upstairs and then downstairs on her off weeks. Well, I've only been handling the downstairs all summer. WHEW. The equipment had sooooo much dust on all of the pieces. We wiped all of them down and moved to vacuum under etc. What a workout. So much dust in the air that I attached an AC filter to my floor fan to hopefully help haha. Hubby and I were lightly coughing from all of the dust, so downstairs I remain. Linens are all rewashed and ready to remake the bed whenever I want to make it back up. Wednesday is my toe surgery again for this painful ingrown ,so maybe I'll just wait until this weekend. It still felt good to attack our room. I'll have my friend help me over the next few weeks to get the other two rooms done before the kids come for the holidays.

Kelly - Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to you and your family. And happy early birthday (just in case I don't make it back on tomorrow. Hoping you had a relaxing weekend at the cabin and all is going well with the kids. Any update on your daughters acl repair?

Sheesh - I need to find your mojo!!!! Wiping down the rower, bike and treadmill made me think about you and your commitment and remind me of how committed I was. I don't know if it's because the pain in my feet and legs for the past couple of years or what. Let's pray that this last ingrown is truly the last of the pain and discomfort. But please keep posting your trainer appointments etc. I know I haven't been doing it, but it does remind me of more active times. You're so positive. THANK YOU!!!!

First, a big birthday hug to Kelly. <3 I hope you have a wonderful day, and I'm sure your family and friends will make sure that you do.

Lois, I thought that I have the dustiest house in the world! LOL I can dust one day and write my name on things the next. Wish we didn't have to do it every now and then, but cleaning like you're doing is probably one of the best exercises. I know I got a hair up my behind a while back and did some deeper cleaning and I was sore the next day and my bugg said that I burned a lot of kcals. I, too, hope this toe is the end of your foot pain. You so deserve a break. Hug for you, too and good luck tomorrow.

I'm doing pretty good today. Not a lot of pain this morning. Sunday was a tough day. I think I mentioned that we were dog sitting for a neighbor last week. Well, Saturday late afternoon, hubby took the doggie for a walk and for some reason took him off the leash in their garage (with the door open) rather than waiting until they got inside. I was walking over there, just as this happened, and said pup came racing down their driveway to see me. I petted him and tried to get him to follow me back to the garage, but instead, he took off running for the grassy area in the middle of the cul-de-sac. No one was around to help because hubby went into the neighbor's house to get the pup's afternoon meds ready and turn on lights, close blinds, etc. and just thought I was out there loving up on the dog. Well, I tried to get Scrappy to come back to me, and he would not. Instead, he spotted our house and ran up the walk. I cornered him at the front door, but couldn't let him in because I didn't know how he'd react to our kitties off the leash.

So I sat there with him for a few minutes, praying hubby would realize I wasn't coming in with him and that he would come to find us. But then some neighbors from up the street walked by with their dog and Scrappy got away from me and took off down our walk and attacked the other dog. :# Without thinking, I ran after him, and of course, one thing they stressed was no running. Thankfully, he did not hurt the other dog and hubby came out as this was going on and got him back on a leash. But on Sunday, I paid the price for that run. Man oh man, life is just a series of little dramas!

As I said, I'm doing much better today and throughout this, we've kept a close eye on my incision and it looks just fine. So I am planning to go to my class on Thursday as second eyes, although I can't exercise. :'( And boy is that frustrating. I can walk, but only slowly on flat surfaces, so of course, the number of calories I am burning has plummeted. I'm sure I also have some fluid retention. Because of the meds they give you in surgery and after, they stress drinking a lot of fluids to keep your system moving. So I'm keeping my big ole pink "bubba cup" full of ice and water with me at all times and I am certainly not looking forward to weigh-in tomorrow. But I will.

Sheesh, I know Wednesday are your busy day. Hope you get a chance to drop by, and if not, I look forward to hearing how your week went on Thursday.
