Let’s Travel
Let’s visit different locations in the world by exercising. For every 15 minutes of exercise you can travel to a new destination. The trick is you must finish the travel delay activity at each destination to proceed. For example: If you complete 60 minutes of exercise on Sunday you can travel to the first 4 destinations but you have to complete each travel delay activity before you continue on. You can complete the activity throughout the day. Each destination is worth 10 points. Let’s see if you can get to Washington, DC. The person with the most points at the end of the week wins. Yes there can be a tie. Let us know where you have traveled each day!

Today I walked for 35 minutes. I went to Toronto, Canada and Saint Andrews, Scotland. Sunday mornings I love to relax with a cup of hot tea!
I saw the Bahamas one says beach time. Make it work for you! Beach, pond, lake, puddle, any water will do!1 -
So we don’t have to go in order listed? I was hesitant to join because I knew the travel delay of 50 crunches would take me a few days to complete.🤷♀️0

I have 136 minutes, not including the exercise minutes involved in the tasks at the destinations. So I have the first 9 destinations done.
Motivational quote: What gets measured, gets managed!
My SMART goal for the month of November: Walk at least 140 miles outdoors during the month.

I was looking at recipes for a cranberry cherry crumble pie to make for Thanksgiving dinner, but I'm pretty sure that won't qualify as a healthy recipe for Oslo. Anyway I decided to make up my own recipe using canned tart cherries and fresh cranberries. Will cook the filling in advance.1

I made it to Manila, Philippines yesterday, but crashed and burned before the crunches.1

I'm a bit limited on the exercise I can do because of hip pain, and trying to be conservative in my attempt to let it heal. But I can walk.
So yesterday I walked 60 minutes on the treadmill. I made it to the first 4 destinations, and did each of the first 4 activities. Total points: 40

For a motivational quote, I have two:
This quote hits home with me because:
I successfully lost 100+ pounds several years ago. That success then lulled me into complacency and I regained ~30 pounds over the next several years. My early success was not final, and my later failure was not fatal. My journeys toward health and fitness is never ending, as long as I'm alive. So, I must have the courage to continue...
Albert Einstein is a hero of mine. Now, the quote applies more to society in general--how we have created problems that we then had (and still have) to solve. But I'm applying it on a more personal level. It reminds me that my thinking (and resultant behavior) is what created my problem of being overweight, and the solution to that problem requires that I change my way of thinking.

My SMART Goal:
I joined the 100 Day Challenge, and I set a goal of losing just one pound each week. And to ensure I don't let failure discourage me, each week's one pound is based on where I ended the prior week. So, if I failed to lose one pound last week, I still only have to lose one pound this week, and if I lost more than one pound last week, I still have to lose one pound this week.

My NSV:
Today was a big day. Not only did I finish the last of my Garmin challenges for October, I also finished the Appalachian Trail Expedition Challenge, for taking 4.9M steps, the step equivalent of 2,175 miles (the length of the Appalachian Trail). It took me just over a year to do this.

I have got behind with this challenge & as I was looking at it on my phone I didn't swipe right to see the extra exercises.
So I've decided to opt out of the challenge.1 -

You don't have to do them in order. So if you naturally did something, it counts!1 -
The main quote that I keep going back to is "Feel the fear. Do it anyway". I first heard it from Jillian Michaels on Biggest Loser many years ago, but I think she was quoting it, and I'm not sure where it originally came from.
It encourages me to continue on with things that seem overwhelming or make me anxious, and my initial reaction is to run away. This applies to weight loss and fitness goals, as well as every day challenges and bumps along the road. It especially applies when anxiety is acting up, trying to freeze me up so I won't do anything.2 -
My SMART goal for November
Specific- lose 4 lbs in November
Measurable - I will continue to weigh myself regularly
Achievable - I'll have to keep focused and not have so many oops days, but a pound a week should be achievable.
Relevant - I want to lose a little over 30 pounds total. 4 pounds will help
Time- It'll be about one pound per week for the month.
I really wanted it to be about running because I am more passionate about that. But my hip isn't letting me run at the moment. While I'm hoping to get back to it next week, I'm not positive it'll happen then, and not sure how I'm going to progress with this set back, once I start up again. But I also need to lose weight, so this works, too.2 -
I did a 60 minute walk on the treadmill yesterday.
So I went to Copenhagen, Ottawa, Madrid and Bern. I skipped Dublin for now, but I'll circle back to it when I get around to doing the bicep curls.
Total points: 802 -
Monday
I did 153 minutes of exercise, not counting the time doing the exercises in the delay activities. I thought I'd posted yesterday, but I don't know where it went. 🤔
My NSV is that I powered through my horrific head cold, and did my workouts.
My recipe is a 16 bean soup with venison sausage. Hopefully I will get my sense of smell back and I'll be able to tell if it's any good. A friend of mine is cleaning out his freezer to make room for this year's hunt, so I have about 4 pounds of last year's meat in my freezer. Next up will be venison stew, then maybe bambi meatloaf.

Today I went for a 35 minute walk/jog. I tracked all my food and enjoyed the warm fresh air! This took me to Switzerland and Denmark.
