Today's Topic: When you've put on a lot or a little extra weight or maybe you're on maintenance and really don't want to gain any weight then what your hot button. What motivates you to do what you have to do.

    I find it hard to flip-the-switch and tighten up my eating. I think I've got much of my weight-management set in auto-pilot, so much of what I do is routine and doesn't require any thought. If I need to cut back, then I need to re-engage my brain, and that's not always easy to do! I wish I could figure out what works and what doesn't work to flip-the-switch, but I'm not sure at this point.

    Uncomfortable clothes or seeing a pic of myself that makes me cringe will usually set things in motion . . . eventually.

    Well there are most of these mentioned for me if not all. Looking is in the mirror with no shirt on is a real eye opener. Sometimes I wish I could wish it off but this is real life not a fairy tale.

    Merle Haggard wrote a song called I Never Go Around Mirrors. It contaned the line 'it tears me up to see a grown man cry'. He wasn't talking abut weight loss, but it can apply here too. As an aside, Lefty Frizzell did a great version of that song.

    Physical discomfort from weight as well as tighter clothes.

    Although auto- pilot doesn’t work for me, I am,in a sort of parallel way, in the same boat. My brain HAS to be engaged and focused. It’s when it checks out that i have a problem. Kind of like cruise control. You can set everything up to move ahead without any adjustments, but you still have to steer if you’re heading off the road. Anyway, if my brain does check out re-engaging it is super hard for me. I have no idea what made it finally click.

    I also know the plan i’m on has to address every one of my obstacles. hmmm
    maybe i’ll do my own LTL about that.
