HOW IT ALL WORKS: The December challenge runs for five weeks, from November 24th - December 28th.

Everyone weighs in weekly on their chosen day right here in the team chat. At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win, and may everyone else get to work on next week!

We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every single week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leader board. In March we are aiming for every team to hit 50% green every week - let's do this!

To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):

If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you want a break, you can be excused for a week or two, or can be moved to the Support Team for as long as you need. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally. Don't worry! You can always come back even if you get dropped.

Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone. You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team.

In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.

Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love Introduce or re-introduce yourselves right away, and let's get December on the road!

FAQ for New Shape Shifters Members

How do I post my weigh in?

    Userid
    (Day of Week) Weigh-in
    PW: 204 lbs (previous weight)
    CW: 202 lbs (current weight)
LTD: 12 lbs (optional loss to date)

Where is the Weigh in stats spreadsheet?

Start at the Fat2Fit Main Page and under the header information, you’ll see a section at the bottom that says “TO ACCESS THE SPREADSHEETS FOR JANUARY CLICK HERE” followed by the link in blue. Once you click on that link, it will take you to the Summary page. Find Shape Shifters on the tabs at the bottom and click on that and that brings you to the stats page. Also on this page (scrolling down), you’ll find the Step Challenge chart as well. This is where we record your daily steps if you sign up to be part of the monthly step challenge. More info on how to sign up is below! Join us!

How often should I post in the chatroom?

Whenever you have a question, suggestion, story, news announcement or just want to brighten someone's day!! There's never too much...and please share recipes, tips, laughs, challenges, cartoons, pictures of your pets, pictures from walks you've taken, etc...we love it all!!

What if I have to be out of town during my weigh in?

Send a message to one of the Captains (JessicaKrall8 or Pupowl) in the chatroom or in a private message on MFP's mail and let her know your circumstance...if it's just for a week or two, you can be excused from the weigh-in. If you must leave for longer than a month, you may be moved to our support team until you return. When you're ready to come back, send another message and the MODS will move you back to active status.

What happens if I miss a weigh in?

If you're late, you'll be marked as LWI (late weigh in). If you fail to report in at all, you'll be labeled as NWI (no weigh in). After two NWIs, you're put on the drop list if no explanation has been provided. It's always best to let your Captain know what's going on and she'll make sure you're covered.

How do I sign up for the Step Challenge?

Send the Captains a message (in the monthly team chat thread) that you'd like to join, provide your daily step goal and share your favorite place to walk. It's that simple! Please be aware though, you're making a commitment to post your steps every 2-3 days, which helps the Captains keep the stats caught up. If you're not willing to do this, please do not sign up. (THANKS!!)

Do I have to re-register each month to remain part of Team Shape Shifters?

No, your membership will carry over month to month. The only place where this is NOT true is for the Step Challenge. You have to sign up each month to participate in it and this gives you the opportunity to adjust your daily step goal.

If I've missed anything or questions arise, just post them! We'll find the information you need as much as possible! Hope this helps!

    Welcome!
    Jessica

Hello Shape Shifters! I hope you are all doing well.
I am one of the captains of the team together with Jessica. We take care of all the data such as your weigh ins and the steps. If you have any questions, let us know! I joined this team in August 2021 and I have found it a very valuable tool on my weight loss journey.
There are a lot of things being offered here; there is the step challenge, the habit tracker, the weekly challenges, your personal weigh in and of course the Shape Shifter group chat itself. The more you engage with the group, the more you will get out of it.
Don't hesistate to reach out when you are having a hard time, chances are you aren't the only one and everyone here is kind and supportive. I often see people feel bad about posting a gain, please don't! We are all aware that weight loss isn't linear. Sometimes the scale just does what it wants, even when you do everything right. So post it, shrug it off and keep going. As long as you put in the work, the results will come, promise. Remember that one day of overeating does not erase any progress! <3
I wish everyone a great December with lots of victories, big and small!

Due to weather I have been getting my steps inside. I am hoping to get some outdoor walks and to try snowshoeing this month.

Sign me up too for December step challenge.
    Daily step goal: 10,000

We are heading into the rainy/foggy season here. When it's clear or foggy, I'll be getting steps in the park or on the trail (with my wool cap and warm mittens on). When it's rainy, I'll be getting my steps either on the treadmill or in the pool! Normally, on days when I do water aerobics, I'll get a third of my steps that way. But I can follow my Aquafit class with some water jogging to get to my goal.

~ Important Note about Holidays ~

Remember that a single meal, even a full day of meals, cannot derail all of your progress!
We gain weight for a million reasons over a holiday. Rarely is everything gained pure fat.
If you consume more salt or sugar than usual, your body holds onto water to process it properly.
If you are stressed or sick or sleep deprived, your body holds onto water due to inflammation.
Sure, you may have eaten more than you normally would...
But you also probably spent more time with people who care about you than you normally would.
    You took a well-deserved break.
And now it's time to get back on it. You know what you gotta do, and you know you're not alone.

@indoorsy_ Thanks for sharing all your puzzles! I love the variety. The birds from the Galison puzzle are very cute indeed. I don't have good experiences with that brand with 500 piece puzzles (mudpuppy) so it is a brand I avoid. Though the 1000 piece I did from them was totally fine, so maybe I should give them another shot. I also love random cuts and the hedgehog puzzle is adorable. The jellyfish one is stunning and I would hate the chocolate puzzle, lol! Too frustrating/difficult for me. I have also looked at the advent puzzles, but they are sooo expensive. Maybe next year.

Good morning Shape Shifters. I finally managed to go for a walk again. It was colder than I thought so I was underdressed. It was only the first part because it was open and windy. The sun showed up and I had a good time. I got a December calendar from the Dutch lottery with little games to scratch open for 31 days. My mom told me about them last year, so this is only the second time I have bought one. Usually you only win your money back, but it is a fun thing to do every day. I got the 20 euro one which has prizes between € 20 and 1 mil. I will let you know if I suddenly get rich. I also got a tea advent calendar a while back which is really cute. Yesterdays tea was pretty nice. Happy Monday everyone <3

    Good morning all!

    Sunday steps
    7900

Having said that, I would like to join the challenge. 😊 My goal is 10,000 and I get them outside so they are somewhat weather dependent. Amazing how when I lived in New England I had no trouble walking in rain, snow or sub zero temperatures. Now if it dips below 45 I don't want to leave the house. I'd love to get a treadmill or elliptical for those days. We'll see. I do ride my Peloton every morning, but get no steps for that. 🙃

Anywho, @indoorsy_ I love your puzzles, especially the jellyfish!! Beautiful colors! My puzzle table only holds 500-750 comfortably so I stick with those. I did a 1000 piece one but it was a pain! I had several flat cardboard boxes with pieces and every time I looked for one I had to go through them all. I remember doing a puzzle with my mom as a kid. It was a beautiful mountain scene and had about 2500 pieces. We had it spread out on the dining room table with all of the leaves in. 😂😂 Only did that once. 😉

    Have a great day everyone!

Not sure if it's a loss or just because I used a diffrent scale but I'll take it I guess, haha.

@angmarie28 I weighed myself on a different scale this morning and had the exact opposite problem. 😯 Totally hoping it's the different scale. 😁 But it's the only one I've got for the week so I'm stuck with it

I would like to join the step challenge please

    Goal is 10,000

I get a good chunk of steps from going on walks with my boys. Usually just to the neighborhood park or to the store on the corner. We also do a "night-night walk" around the block every night. Here in AZ, this is the time of year when it's easier to get outside because it's not scorching hot, so there's a bit more flexibility in planning it into our day.

I also am intending to get back to running this week (hopefully my hip is ready, I think it is), which is just the treadmill at the gym.

    Thanks!

This was for the day after thanksgiving-sorry it’s late. It was an unexpectedly big jump, but it’s coming down a bit since then. I’ve been eating out too much since grocery shopping is such a struggle right now.

Had my daughter in from Houston and we went out to eat instead of fixing a big dinner. With my bum knee I didn’t want to commit to something I couldn’t do. I did try to make a Linzer Torte instead of pumpkin pie (my daughter brought a pie and we had a slice at the restaurant also so we were good) I think with a little tweaking it will be a keeper.

I go see my orthopedist on Wednesday so hopefully I can set up a treatment plan and move forward.

    Daily step goal: 10000

I am doing 1 set of 10 jumping jacks every day this week. I know it’s not much but it’s more than I was doing, hard to rationalize skipping and easy to do no matter what the weather or location.

Please could I be added to the December Step Challenge.I will go for 12000 steps as when the weather is bad I don't seem to get outdoors as much as usual.I usually walk around my local neighbourhood or around the shops in winter. The park if its fine or in the rain.
Good luck with the Jumping Jack's @frankwbrown you could also do them in the pool 😀
