HOW IT ALL WORKS: The December challenge runs for five weeks, from November 24th - December 28th.
Everyone weighs in weekly on their chosen day right here in the team chat. At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win, and may everyone else get to work on next week!
We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every single week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leader board. In March we are aiming for every team to hit 50% green every week - let's do this!
To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):
If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you want a break, you can be excused for a week or two, or can be moved to the Support Team for as long as you need. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally. Don't worry! You can always come back even if you get dropped.
Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone. You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team.
In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.
Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love Introduce or re-introduce yourselves right away, and let's get December on the road!

Welcome to our December chat Mission Slimpossibles! I'm Kathy, I'm a co-captain with the wonderful @trooworld. Our moderator is the amazing supportive @micaroo4 . We're happy you're on our team!
I'm in charge of logging everyone's weigh-ins and reporting changes. The weigh-ins on Fat2Fit are a friendly weight-loss competition. Please do NOT feel you are letting the team down if you gain or don't lose anything, we are not holding this against you and commiserate and are cheering you on. Most of us have had weight struggles and understand the challenges. You are expected to weigh in weekly, please do your best to weigh in and do so on your chosen day. If you're away from a scale and unable to weigh the earlier you can let me know you won't be weighing in the easier it is for me to report it. If you would like to change your day please let me know. If you do not weigh in for a couple weeks you will be dropped from the team. Weigh in format is easiest for me to log if it's done similar to this:
Weigh in Day:

Current Weight
I've also been doing Member Spotlights. If you are interested in being a Member Spotlight we need to become friends on MFP so we can send each other private messages where I'll send you questions Chris and I put together for you to answer. I'll give you my email so you can include a photo if you'd like and will post it to the group shortly after I receive the answered questions and photo.
I've been part of this team since early 2019 and it's become an important part of my life and helps me stay on track (and stay sane). We share all the trials and tribulations of making healthier choices as well as swap recipes, do challenges, talk about life, share photos of our lives from pets to gardens, exchange workout videos, talk books and movies, and most importantly support each other. For me personally I'd been homebound for years and was very isolated and sick and having this support and seeing I'm not alone with things I'm going through has been very helpful at face challenges and growing. I really appreciate that people on here are into personal growth, I have so many people in my life who only want to talk about what they need to do instead of actually do it which I find frustrating. I'm above my goal weight right now but am working on getting my post-surgery weight off, I just hit my year since my last back fusion/fusion revision and didn't want to be too extreme cutting calories until my body recovered and back fused. I have spinal issues and CRPS (painful full body nerve disorder) and have to modify a lot of my exercise but I do chair cardio, weights, stretching, and gardening daily. I'm exchanging supplements and treatment with a functional medicine practitioner by doing her administration, file claims part-time, and volunteer with the food bank farm and run the greenhouse team. I love gardening, reading, learning about functional medicine, and going to (mostly metal) concerts when I can.
Let's have an awesome December team!1 -
Hello Slimpossibles!
I'm Mica, one of the maintainers of the team.
I am a semi-retired bookkeeper; I work 3 days a week at a plastics factory. I started my weight loss journey at 220 lbs in 2001. I reached my goal weight of 130 at the end of 2003. But I regained (not all of it) and had some up/down weight cycles of about 3 years each...finally succeeded in maintaining in my range successfully. I've been holding pretty steady since 2019. Determined never to regain.
Most of my exercise is walking. I do a short strength training workout early in the morning. If weather prevents me from walking, I have a stationary bike, a walking pad, and an elliptical for cardio workouts.I sometimes do yoga in the evenings.
I look forward to a slim December with my teammates 💙

Happy December Slimpossibles!! I’m Teresa, and I have been a member here for a long time. I live in Georgia and work for my small church as their secretary. I’m married to the love of my life, who happens to be 23 years older than me and battling dementia. Life has changed a lot for us, but we cling to our faith and each other and try to make each day matter. We also live with my mom, sister, and little dog, Maggie Mae. I’ve been battling my weight since I was a teenager, and honestly, I’m so sick of the struggle that I’ve just stopped doing anything about it. But I’m not a quitter, so I’m working on some ideas for the New Year. Stay tuned!
Good morning! It’s cold here today! Not as cold as what @laurelfit57 is dealing with, but still cold for us Southerners. Thanksgiving at my house was super low-key. I made curry chicken salad for us. However, my niece made so much traditional food that she sent a considerable amount over to us, and we ate that last night. So, no more holidaying for at least a couple of weeks. I’m tired of being full! Today, we have church and then I need to figure out how to use the baby monitor I bought to spy on Joe. The thing is way fancier than the ones I used for my daughter. Have a great day!
ICE BREAKER QUESTION OF THE WEEK: In the grocery store, do you go to self-checkout or to a cashier? I loved self-checkout before it was a thing! And I will always choose self-check over letting a cashier ring me up. But I’m also in love with Walmart bringing me groceries to my door. Best subscription ever!!

Howdy,
I am Sandy from Texas. I am a retired Correctional Officer. I am married to my wonderful hubby John and we live with our two furbabies Diesel (dog) and Tigger (cat). We have two children both married and 5 grandchildren. I spend most of my days with Diesel. I am working on training him obedience. Which he is doing really well in.
I struggle with my weight. The holidays really make it difficult. I will not set myself up for failure by setting goals that I will not live up to this month. But I do have a few I want to make.
1) Start checking in daily.
2) Continue fasting 16/8
3) Choose wisely when it comes to eating.
4) ENJOY THE HOLIDAYS!!!

Took my weight about 5 times and this was the most consistent number I got.
I need to get back on track. I feel disgusting and out of shape. Dealing with some plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendinitis. Getting orthotics soon. Still plugging away daily with the dog walks but need to do better with food. Send good vibes!3 -

@sleepygirl79 Good vibes sent!
@morenin Hugs to you, it may be easier to focus on maintaining while you're adjusting to the change in medication, sometimes it's easier to remind ourselves to eat one less cookie or not have seconds than to go to lower calories to lose. With my pain I usually have to do that since the lack of control over the extreme pain makes me bingey. You'll get through this and you WILL get back on track.
@txcritter69 I'm glad to hear Diesel is doing well with training I was wondering about that!
@TeresaW2024 I'm with you I like self-checkout too though Walmart pickup is nice! Delivery is too but since I couldn't shop for so long I enjoy it. I DO seem to always need assistance when I do self-checkout which is real annoying, last time I rang up everything then put it all in my bag and the camera accused me of stealing which was pretty offensive when there's not enough room to put everything before putting it in a bag in the first place.
Hi team! Doing a quick check-in before going to my brother's, we're having a post-Thanksgiving but it's not a Thanksgiving meal so more of a hangout. I made an awesome mixed greens salad with persimmon, mandarin orange, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, green onion, and pomegranate seeds plus feta with balsamic vinegar (women will love it the men not so much). I ordered a 1964 mug for my friend who is turning 60 on Tuesday from Amazon I'll be getting together with for lunch and it's delayed and won't be here until after her birthday and shipping it to her would cost more than the mug, I called and complained and almost canceled Prime as the assistant didn't believe me that the day was different than what it currently said and wanted a screenshot (yea right I ordered so much that night I didn't do that and have never done it but can cancel all my subscriptions and current orders plus Prime). I got $5 credit for the hassle (spent 2 hours with all the different customer service reps) but I can't meet her with nothing for her birthday and money's real tight. I think all the Black Friday shipping screws things up as her gift last year was delayed too. I can't drive to her house because of my legs so I'm pretty annoyed and will probably return it. Sadly if I ordered another one it's 2 days delivery like my order originally said, grr. Started a new ab challenge, I finished last month's by myself. Have a great Monday friends.

Our beautiful friend @askewcr is our Member Spotlight, she's perfect to inspire us for December!
What made you decide to improve your health and join MFP?
I had been trying to get the weight off in a consistent way and had failed at it so many times. Finding this program gave me accountability and a group/family to be a part of.
What makes improving your health worth doing?
I want to live a healthy fulfilling life without restrictions of sickness and such.
What have you tried in the past that hasn't worked?
I’ve tried Weight Watchers, Friend groups, Zumba, Gym membership, etc.
What have you tried that has worked?
I believe they all worked but the ability to stick with it was an issue with me. Starting out fresh and new was wonderful and exciting. When the novelty rubbed off, I fell off the wagon. I feel that all of the different programs/activities work if we work them and stay with them as they were designed. The power lies within the person.
What form of exercise do you enjoy?
Water Aerobics is my favorite.
What goals did you achieve this past year?
I have found MFP and am attending Water Aerobics and the both of them have allowed me the opportunity to have an exercise program and accountability group to interface with. It’s like extended family and we all encourage each other.
Are there things you didn't do before that you're able to do now?
I’m losing weight/inches so I can shop from my own closet. When I first started Water Aerobics, I was absolutely bushed when I finished the class. I actually had to go home and take a nap. Now, I can rock the whole class and a few of us float down to the seven feet end and back. It’s amazing!
What is something non-weight related you have done or learned that you may not have if you hadn't started improving your health?
My feeling of worth has changed. I know that I am beautiful and important to my family and my friends. I am an encourager and I love deep.
What is your favorite healthy food?
My favorite healthy food is salad with Olive Garden dressing.
How did you manage to alter your eating pattern?
I have found that persistence is key. I started this program called Project Power which is a program for people who are at risk for and fully diagnosed with diabetes. There are components there that encourage eating right and accountability. I believe this was my turning point. They provide all the tools that you need, such as a scale and a smart watch, so that you are set up for success. You also get a coach and have weekly meetings via Zoom. It’s an awesome program. It’s open to anyone!
Is your family understanding about your health goals?
Yes! My husband is also a part of the Project Power program.
What is your goal for this next year?
I would like to continue to decrease my A1C and reach my goal of two hundred pounds or less.
What is your best piece of advice for those just starting their journey?
Don’t give up! Stay the course. You may have hiccups from time to time but get back on track. You’ll be happy you did.
Do you have a photo that means a lot to you or one that represents reaching your health goals you’d like to share? (posted up top)

~ Important Note about Holidays ~
Remember that a single meal, even a full day of meals, cannot derail all of your progress!
We gain weight for a million reasons over a holiday. Rarely is everything gained pure fat.
If you consume more salt or sugar than usual, your body holds onto water to process it properly.
If you are stressed or sick or sleep deprived, your body holds onto water due to inflammation.
Sure, you may have eaten more than you normally would...
But you also probably spent more time with people who care about you than you normally would.
You took a well-deserved break.
And now it's time to get back on it. You know what you gotta do, and you know you're not alone.~ Moderator Ashley (Resident Scientist and Certified Personal Trainer)

From previous month - ICE BREAKER QUESTION OF THE WEEK: In the grocery store, do you go to the self-check or to a cashier?
I go to the cashier. Much prefer to give people the work than a machine. Market basket is the best where I’m at to ensure all lanes are staffed.1 -

I rejoined MFP after a few years and I literally feel like I'm new especially with navigating the site. So I apologize in advance if I mess up something. 😊
I have been struggling for years to take care of myself, mind and body. Since 2023 I made it finally to start my journey of taking care of me. Well, all was going well until April this year when my body almost gave up on me healthwise. I'm still in recovery and I'm grateful that before this happened I had already lost about 80 lbs. I keep thinking what if I had not lost some weight when this all happened especially with undergoing a triple bypass!!!
I'm grateful to be here and able to further improve my life and well-being.
I look forward to what lies ahead on this amazing journey of rediscovery now that I've been granted a new lease on life.
All the very best to all of us on this journey!1 -
Hi everyone! A big welcome to the new team members, and welcome back to the returning members, I am so glad you are here!
I am one of your Mission Slimpossibles captains along with the fabulous @Katmary71! Our motivator is the inspiring and supportive @micaroo4 !
CHECK-IN PROCESS
Along with our weekly weigh-ins, we REALLY encourage our team members to participate in regular check-ins. It’s a great way to stay accountable to yourself and it allows the team to cheer you on and offer support as you need it. We are a community, and we are stronger together!
CHANGES TO YOUR WEIGH-IN DAY/WEIGHTS
If you have any changes to your weigh-in day or reported weights, be sure to tag @Katmary71 who handles all of that stuff. She also handles moving people to cheerleader status/or other status changes.
LET'S GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER
Please share a little bit about you: your name, where you live, and what brought you to the Fat2Fit Challenge Group. Also share anything else you would like to, including any goals for the year. We are here to support and cheer you as you go through your weight loss adventure!
MY INTRODUCTION
Hi everyone. My name is Chris. I live in Southern California with my husband, cute one-eyed pirate pug named Daisy (8 yrs old) and pug pup name Violet who is 2 yrs old. Up until my mid-20s, I was a healthy weight but then the mid-20s hit and along with that came medications that made me gain weight as well as poor lifestyle choices. I am in the process of getting weight loss surgery, I'm just waiting for the surgery date. For exercise, I like to walk with my husband and friends, however I am limited by moderate/severe arthritis in the knees. Besides walking, I do water aerobics. My husband and I love to cook, I've got 8,698 recipes saved but who's counting? LOL Seriously, I do and they are all organized, so if you need a recipe for ANYTHING, let me know! I've got everything from healthy foods to pet treats to recipes for cleaning supplies. I have about 95 lbs to lose. I am having a gastric bypass on December 20, 2024 and hope that helps me get back to a healthier state. My hobbies: reading, making artwork and crafts, photography, and cooking. I do straight-up calorie counting of healthy foods.
Now, it's your turn! Tell us about YOU!0 -
Woo hoo 2nd place by pounds and 3rd by percentage for November, great job team! @DrewsAnna @lislisa123 @bobboyardee @sleepygirl79 Way to make it onto the leaderboard! A special shout-out goes to @DrewsAnna for being in the green all four weeks!
@bruberrieb Welcome to the team! We are glad you joined. Wow, what a weight loss you've had! Congrats! A triple bypass...wow, that's a great reason to get healthy and get the weight off. All the best to you as well!
@TeresaW2024 I'm glad you had a good Thanksgiving. I hope the baby monitor wasn't too much to figure out!
@Bethanie0825 Congrats on the loss!
@Katmary71 That salad sounds fabulous. Sorry about the Amazon problem.
@askewcr Wow, nice to "see" you, gorgeous! Thanks for doing the member spotlight. Woo hoo for being able to rock teh whole class at water aerobics now!!! You are so inspiring.
Hi all. I had to use my cane again yesterday. We did a lot of walking around. We parked down by the embarcadero (down by the water) and walked around a little there and then walked up to Little Italy and walked around. Then we went and walked around in our favorite neighborhood. It hurt to be on my feet so for dinner, I just made air fryer french fries + these frozen seasoned chicken pieces from Sam's Club that are really good. They aren't breaded, just seasoned.
