What personal relationships have changed over time (and how have they changed) as a result of your efforts to lose or maintain your weight?

    Saved my marriage. Including the alone time. If I didn’t drop dead, I was on my way to a debilitating stoke.

    I also became an actual dad able to do stuff with my kids.

    Not a lot, to be honest. It has allowed my wife and I to have a common goal, though we deal with it differently.

    I have a negative experience.

    I have a family member who has asked me, over the years, what I'm doing to lose weight when I'm in loss mode. She seemed to think there was something magical other can creating a calorie deficit over an extended period. Instead of reading/researching on her own, she wanted me to share anything I'd read/any recipes I was using. We were part of a weekly family text for awhile where the entire group was trying to lose weight. Her texts were usually questions to others about their successes for the week and complaints (not losing quickly enough) despite the fact that she was losing at least a pound a week. She rarely was an encourager/cheerleader for me. I realized she is more of a "taker" in life than a "giver." Years later, that perception hasn't changed. As a result, I'm less open and generous with my time with her as I previously was.
