I just noticed that GOAD has 263 members. Wow! Where did they all disappear to? I took a sabbatical for a number of months, but announced that I was doing so. When I first came over from WW this forum was crowded. Maybe it's like what Yogi Berra said about a restaurant, " It's so crowded nobody goes there anymore ."

Yeah I have noticed the declining numbers on the roll Call thread over the years, the daily count is down to between 5 and 8 regulars.2

GoaD’s heyday was back on the old WW board. MFP is a nice home for GoaD, but it can’t provide the steady stream of newbies to the WW program, with their questions of how to work the plan. How I miss all those who could not eat all their points, or who were afraid their body had gone into starvation mode.
As to the 263 here on MFP, most are people who signed up, posted once, and never came back. You have to admit that to an outsider, GoaD’s current look of all recurring threads seems quite cliquish.2 -
I think Phil has summarized it well - we lack a feeder system, and we’re an acquired taste. I also think we never got to the scale of active members that's needed to support a vibrant, interactive comm7nity during the day.
What’s left? The few, the proud . . . .2 -
There's a similar situation in the GoaD Facebook group - 175 members with 7-10 daily "roll call" participants (with a wee bit of overlap between FB and MFP). I wish we had been able to keep the old WW bunch in one place, but it feels like that ship has sailed. Wasn't there another group of refugees from the old WW boards ... BBB or similar?1

I like the rest of this small but vibrant group of stick arounders couldn't just walk away. I need the daily stimulus and maybe 250 plus or minus non participating members found a great home somewhere no that I would follow them anyway.
It is interesting though that while some of us know each other better than others the lure of what's actually going on with thecfew that are here actually interest me everyday. The FB group tend to be like most friends or groups and it is interesting but different from this group.
I'll leave it at this for now and I have no plans for going anywhere till my number comes up and you know what I mean by that.1 -
Weight loss and maintenance requires vigilance, meaning as Derrick says, support and check-ins, a bit of inspiration or helpful advice. It's living a lifestyle. I'm more aware of my health nowadays and what I eat and what I weigh are part of that. The few, the proud, the Goadies.0

Yes - there’s a group called Beyond Beer & Burgers. Dennis @lowbard posts in both. I lurk on BBB but haven’t joined in.0
