Hi UCC'ers, well I got a jump start and started yesterday. 😱 Mainly because I was scared I wouldn't know how to do it. Took the chance to go for a long walk with DS. Went for shorter walk today (to help with blisters!) So achieved activities and worked out my daily calorie limit and stuck to calories 🙃 😃 feeling confident so far.
I weighed in both days, is that the correct thing to do?
Hope everyone is OK HAPPY NEW YEAR X6 -
What a great day. It included a fun walk with my friend and the dogs, lots of sunshine and pool time, some by myself with a book and some with friends and their kids. Fitted the ice cream into the calorie budget (although I did need to use a bit of my exercise calories to hit my minimum protein target. My goal is to get the protein within 2000 calories, but my backup plan is to use exercise calories to make up the protein if needed. I still stay within a good amount of calories but get a decent amount of calories with this plan.) Ended the day with some yoga, neck rehab (got a pinched nerve which is limiting my training options right now) and breathing exercises (they help me manage my asthma).7

Wish you all a very happy, healthy and successful New Year.
As I wrote in my end of 2024 post, I am looking forward to continue all the good habits I managed to establish so far, and try and improve on them: twice a week swimming pool instead of just once, getting from swimming 500m to 800m each time by the end of January. Maintain my weight between 61 and 63 kg. So far, so good, scales said 62.2 kg this morning. I hope you all had a great start to the New Year.6 -

I am just starting this team. I am working to include more fruit/vegetables in my diet. I am mostly successful at this time. I keep grapes and cherry tomatoes on hand to have as a quick snack (one or two grapes or tomatoes satisfies me) instead of relying on salty foods or chocolate. I am also stitching more, which keeps my hands busy and not available to snack.6 -
I know it will seem perverse to start a new month and a new year with a pass day, but today did include a lot of food that was difficult to track.
The day started just after midnight with the tail end of the new year celebrations! Fireworks, followed by midnight snacks and dancing!
Late breakfast, buffet lunch in the hotel. Between the two meals I had a long, wet walk, including hills.
So exercise was ticked off but not tracking or calories. Dinner in the hotel was not as calorific as yesterday but difficult to track.
First pass day.
Going home tomorrow, the hard work starts then.5 -

I’m right there with you @lesdarts180 - wonderful party last night and hosted today. Lots of friends made amazing dishes. Didn’t overdo it like I used to (half a bagel, for example), but definitely sampled such a variety that I couldn’t track.
@Dinks2422 - good for you, getting such a good start! Everyone here treats the scale as they need to. I weigh and log it almost every day, but some people don’t. If you weigh yourself daily, you will find the number jumps all over the place. I find that useful and more motivating because I have a more accurate picture of what my range is. Once I get to my maintenance weight, I won’t do it as much.
@TEXASTITCHER I also love using my hands (knitting) to prevent snacking. It’s such a great way to avoid temptation! What type of stitching do you do?
@Kathrynclimbs that looks so beautiful and like a great way to mark the new year.
Happy new year, everyone! Here’s to a joyous 2025!2 -

the only thing you need to do here is each report report whether you were successful in meeting the three UAC goals:
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes?
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? You set your budget for the daily
Did I keep track of all the calories I ate or drank?
If the answer is yes for all 3 and it looks like it is, then you are good for the day. If the answer is no for any one of the items then you have a pass day.
The scale is at your discretion.
Kudos on getting those walks in!!

@Dinks2422 Yes you did your check-in perfectly The UAC doesn't ask for weigh-ins, you can do those or not, whatever works best for you. I weigh myself every day because I'm still learning what works for me and what doesn't. I'm pretty sure some UAC'ers never weigh themselves anymore since they've been at goal weight for a long time. And then there's probably everything in between.
@nansbones7708 Your workout looks fun! Was this your first time trying it?
@Kathrynclimbs I had to google Loony Dook (Link for everyone else who's never heard of it.) When I grow up I wanna be like you!
@lesdarts180 Psst... I started December with 3 pass days in a row so I think you're still ok for now, haha.
@SafariGalNYC ZERO pressure (I mean it!), but if you'd like to do an opener sometime about your destressing discoveries this month, I'm sure I'm not the only one who would be all 👀
@DarkNightBrightDays Your New Year's tradition sounds so pleasant! I think I might have started my own New Year's tradition this year, I decided to hop in the hot tub last night and it was so nice that I did it again today 🧖🏻♀️
